Mwana pulled her feet up onto the branch and crouched, arching her back and baring long lion fangs. Her fur bristled in her fury and she looked at him like if he got any closer she was going to be poisoned or plagued with disease. "You sick, disfunctional commoner! How dare you harass us!" she yowled. Though she wouldn't admit it, she was terrified and extremely upset. How could something like this happen to them? To HER?! It just wasn't right! The world was flipped upsidedown!

To Mbweha, this was just one more example of how life had royally screwed them over. It brought a rough sound from her lovely throat, as she considered the probability of him dying from her glares. Unlikely- she was too smart for that. He obviously had a rock for a head- but how could he be dispatched with?

Jaden grinned, and curled his tail, noticing the conspiring look on the Fox’s face. “What a pretty face!” he remarked, rising up onto his paws and leaning his weight against the bow of the tree. “Both of you~ Surely I am not such a common man?”

“You are.” Mbweha replied coldly, and curled her tail. She was not as discriminating as Mwana- but even she had to agree this was too low. He wasn’t even their species! The nerve! But she kept her voice restrained, and her face expressionless.

Jaden grinned, and shook his head. Why could no one see that he was harmless? Blast. But he was enjoying himself.

“I would think you should leave now.” Mbweha spoke cooly. “When our mate returns, he won’t be happy, will he Mwana?”

And here was where Mwana's impulsive nature showed. She wasn't stupid, far from it, but she often couldn't control herself. And when she was angry or upset...well there was no way she could think straight. Her head snapped around at her sister's comment, "WHAAAT?!" She gaped at her sister like a fish for a long moment before the suggestion sunk in. She swallowed, trying to sooth her tossled fur and her wavering nerves, "O-Oh, yes!" Trying to make up for it, she settled back on her haunces, "You're mate...it's so recent I keep forgetting he's around. He always goes off hunting and comes back, asking you a million questions about who's been to see you. He's quite the protective brute." It seemed doubtful her lengthing explination would make up for her mishap...but there was hoping, right?

Mbweha sighed inwardly as Mwana started to panic, and pressed a paw to her forehead. This was why she didn’t open her mouth. How could her brilliant plans be received if her sisters didn’t catch on to them fast enough? “Our mate, sister.” She corrected, pressing her claw faintly over her temple. It had to be a man this slime would identify with! A male with one female might just be a push over. But a man with two! That was synonymous with power. To men. She added to herself bitterly.

“Yes. Very angry. Always howling.” Mbweha spoke after Mwana suddenly got the idea, slowly shaking her head as she did, as if she only half expected to be believed now.

But the good thing about Jaden was that he did so much lying himself that he had a hard time telling when other people were lying. He could get lost in delusions. “A mate-?” He spoke, for a moment surprised as he glanced them over.

“Well, I’m as strong as any lion.” He retorted, rubbing his chest.

Mwana didn not follow her sister's train of thought in the matter, however. A male with two mates? That made no sense to her. It seemed rather barbaric, actually. She wrinkled her nose and gave Mbweha a sharp look at pushing the point. She didn't like it and didn't want to agree with it, lie or no. Instead she vented her anger at Jaden with a glare. "YOU! As strong as any lion? Pah! You're gangly, you've got no muscles, you look as if you were a runt from a little, your coat isn't cleaned enough, so obviously you aren't flexable to reach all the spots or you're just lazy! Pah! Strong as any lion my foot!" Well...here was when Mwana's judgemental skills and bias came in handy, right? She had no problems throwing thorns at Jaden, which were all true in her eyes.

Jaden huffed, for the first time dropping the smile. Scrawny?! “Love, I think you need to get your eyes checked. Your mate wouldn’t know what hit ‘em if he came around. I’m one of the biggest leopards around- and that’s saying a lot.” he purred. “And my spots? I just strategically willed them. Are they not attractive? That’s what all the ladies say. Too many spots makes for freckles, eh?”

But like it or not- he was getting a bit concerned. The last thing he wanted was to get roughed up by some angry man and not even have Phib around to back his cred. The idea of turning tail sent his hackles up somewhat.

Mbweha continued her steady monologue, despite Mwana’s wild injectures. “They call our mate, the crocodile.”

"By lion standards you're a runt," Persisted Mwana. "And your color is apalling! How can anyone hope to get protection from someone like who, you sticks out like a weed among roses? And all the ladies? I wonder what ladies those are...your mother perahps? Your aunt maybe? I don't see any commoner woman in their right mind finding you attractive, let alone blue bloods like us!" She'd leave the mate talk to Mbweha, since she didn't approve of it in the first place. Besides, her sister seemed to know the direction they needed to go on that subject, so she'd leave her to it.

“A weed among roses? Darling, I think I am the rose.” The bright red creature purred. “But, don’t demean yourself! I don’t think you are a weed. You should have more self confidence!” A slight prickle in his nerve when the female mentioned his mother. “Oho- I have no aunts; nor much of a mother.” He did have one Phib- but, that might not be so impressive.

“A crocodile? You poor girls!” Jaden gaped. “You know what they say about crocodiles-“

Mbweha twitched her ear. “What do they say about crocodiles?”

“Nothing but tears.” He purred.

"Oh please! YOU a rose? How completely untrue! You couldn't even pass as a daisy," she snapped at him, no longer wishes for word games. He was a rat and she wanted him GONE. Gone, gone, gone! "And no family? Well then I don't know what females you could be speaking of! None would be attracted to such a worm as you!" She was not going to shut up, clearly, until he was gone.

At his crocodile comment she scoffed, "Do they? Well, a crocodile could eat you not sweat, remember that!" This was getting so tiresome...couldn't he just take a hint? Of course not! He had a rock for a brain!

“You know, this self induced bitterness is terrible for a lady such as yourself! It’s alright- I know you don’t mean what you say. The words~” He paused, tilting his head to the side and alighting his ears. “They are obviously caused by some cruel resolve towards your mate, and in fear that he might overhear you! Ah, all is clear! Well, luckily, I am quite clever enough to understand you now-“ He spoke, adding the last part in a hushed whisper, as if this Crocodile would hear.

From the tree Mbweha decided that life really wasn’t worth it.

“-So do not fear!” He purred, and tosselled the end of his tail. But as diluted as Jaden was- he was starting to get nervous about this fellow. He knew they were not actually saying the opposite that they meant- and he could only imagine how furious this fellow would be to return back home and see him heckling his lady friends!

“Ah! I’ll tell you what-“ He spoke towards Mwana, wanting to get a rise out of her one last time. “- I’ll leave if you give me a kiss.”

Mbweha rose her head. Oh god- this would be brutal!

Mwana gave him a look that said she'd clearly rather DIE then do anything of the sort. Fury radiated from her delicate stance, in ther tense muscles and her silver eyes. "How DARE you suggest something so VULAR, so REPULSIVE, so VILE-" She flared, the pitch of her voice getting higher and higher as she went. It almost got to the point where it looked like the skin beneath her fur was turning blue from using so much air in one breath.

Then suddenly she stopped, clamping her jaws shut and wrinkling her nose in distaste. She glowered at him, but shifted on her branch so that she was sitting back again with her paws before her. "FINE," She spat, "But I am NOT coming down."

Jaden kind of got the idea he was perhaps going too far as he teased the sisters, really simply glad just to have any kind of female attention, even if it was negative. Although it probably was a given- he truly was rather juvenile in those regards. Not that anyone in these great lands would have received an opinion of him that was any higher then that. He seemed content for most of the world to think he was a fool, and that was alright. It made up for it those rare occasions when females really did appreciate his advances.

So he half listened to Mwana as she cursed him, the end of his tail swirling mischeviously as he attempted to come up with the next round. One more round- and then he’d be gone. He couldn’t risk anymore.

But then everything suddenly funneled when Mwana consented. For a moment his and Mbweha’s jaws somewhat slackened, with the latter snuffing and turning her head in disgust, and the prior slowly growing a thick grin across his face. “Well, if you say so-“ Jaden purred excitedly. Perhaps Mwana was plotting something- but if she was, she clearly had not taken into account the climbing poweress of a leopard.

He lurched forward and scaled the tree quickly, popping up just below the branch she was on, and planting a rather discouraging lick across the bottom of her upper lip and nose. He retracted, rather pleased with himself- and having a slight feeling he was soon about to be far redder then he was.

Mwana shrieked as if her fur had caught on fire or a limb had been cute off. She lashed out with extended claws with a swipe at his retreating face. She felt as if she had been snapped into an alternate reality-one where things did not go as they were supposed to! He was not supposed to climb so fast, nor actually land a kiss upon her, nor actually even attempt to kiss her! No one in their right mind would dare touch her, let alone he, scum of the earth! It was unheard of, unthinkingable, and utterly scandelous. She continued to scream at the top of her lungs like a wounded bird, pawing at her face as if it had been touched by acid. "YOU PERVERT! LETCHER! ABOMINATION!"

Oh, it had been totally worth it.

Jaden half smiled as he pulled away, but in a flash, felt the sting of the female’s claws as they swiped across his face. His thought before the fall- at least he’d have a real story to back this one up. But then his neck jerked involuntarily, and with it, the rest of his body collided, and he felt his claws pulled from the wood, and he fell to the earth with a bounce and a tumble. He’d fallen out of trees before- so luckily, he half prepared himself for the rush of air stolen from his chest.

On the tree, Mbweha groaned and looked away as her sister’s shrill voice peaked. What a crummy day this was turning out to be.

Jaden, sucking in some air, wheezed and looked upwards. His voice was a bit husky- but a bright smile alighted his face despite the tracks of red on his already red face. “Ah! That was lovely!”

“Get out of here, you fool!” Mbweha snarled.

Jaden snickered and puffed his tail out. “Sure sure.” He sighed, and shook his head. He shot a sly wink to Mwana and turned. “It never would have worked out, doll. We're just from two different worlds! Don't cry for me!”
