Yotsuba
Teh Yotsy must say that she thinks she might be able to RP more often now that this subforum has been created. Before, Yotsy would start a RP with someone and then the person she was RPing with would be lost to someone else's story ._.; Or if I was RPing with Focht, he'd vanish on me. I think this might be a little scaled down to size, so I might actually be able to keep up with everything sweatdrop

On that note.... Sorry, I can't change the pace of my life for you.

Secondly, if I have any participation at all in this sub forum it will be highly limited and probably only in the OOC unless specifically asked to help.

KB,
I don't know how much it matters, But I too, like the idea of an Island, divided by kingdoms ((for lack of better words)) It leaves plenty of room for everyone to be creative, even if you're just foot solider or something of the sort.
Plus the idea for keeping races where they should be is great. It's kinda annoying when a vampire can survive in the sun, it takes away from the essence of a vampire sweatdrop
Or Angelic/Demonic races... There arent really that many... Angelic's hated Demonic's and vise versa. So to have hunderds of the mixed breed is insane ^^;
Nonetheless, I like your ideas, and furthermore approve, only as long as I can still be Teh Yotsy whee

In all essentials, KB, that is exactly what I was suggesting in the first place, though maybe I worded it strangely. At any rate, I've truely lost all contempt for anyone in this guild, except maybe you, so asking me to forgive and forget is kinda like asking water to be wet. Don't have to ask, it just is.

I've a lot I want to put down though few words to voice it in. So, here we go:
I won't be RPing very much, maybe a couple IC posts every two weeks or so, because, well, I'm in the service (go me). Sad, because I really miss RPing with most of the members of this guild.
Also I'll be the first one to officially vote KB as AI's leader, just because I hate him that much and he's obviously suited for the position.
Next, I'd like to voice my concerns for aquireing members into the AI. I'd hate to see a lot of inactivity due to the fact we can't get members past Twilight.
I'm not too horribly concerned with the guild's over all theme. I don't really remember everyone here, but through and through I'm guessing that the bulk of you can cobble decency from nothing. The only thing is, and like KB made a point of, (if we go with the whole nation thing) that if someone over powers themselves by building a huge army. I like and dislike the notion of having your IC character the "super" warrior in the army, like in video games. Like it because it gives you a sense of power without resorting to blowing up mountains with a sneeze as well as keeping you within the acceptable limits of power. Dislike it because it puts you too far above the average joe. I've always been a fan of those, "You're shot once now you're dead. Two shots if you have body armor" games.
Oh, and if you're concerned with who's going to be the AI's leader make a thread with a poll of those people who are voted most likely to be the leader. Put the poll up and see who gets voted most, winner rules.

And finally...Death to all things cute and fluffy! scream

Heswinas Annoying Ghost
Phia, you're the kind of oblivious person that makes me giggle. I'm not saying they're idiots because of their RP story lines, I'm saying they're idiots beccause they're idiots.

Oblivious? Hardly...I'm just wondering whether or not you've taken the time to talk to them outside of the guild maybe you'd realize they aren't idiots...Anyway this doesnt need to be turned into some big thing but don't make assumptions. Now onto the rest of the posts

My my KB you really got alot out of that last post o.o I do like the idea on limitations of races and such. Angel/Demon is so cliche' as is the "I Hate everything" Stereotypes that some people like to grasp onto so much. Prehaps some sort of multi-level characters as well as limits will create more interesting, created charcters, plus challenges are fun XD, I'm still a bit confused about your battle ideas and the army set-up but that can be felt out some more i suppose. Also What sorts of restrictions do you guys think should be on the races I know that there's no obvious opposing race-crossbreeds allowed but what else?

Phia: The objective of the racial restrictions is to keep a balance, one where everyone is able to match each other as long as they exhibit the qualities that would be present within one that excedes. Wit, cunning, fast, keen, strong, etc etc. It's really a matter of stepping up to the plate and acting ont he adrenaline you recieve.

I dislike the notion of things being superpowered beyond usual degrees, and thusly I plan to not be playing KB at all in this subforum. Respectively, my new character is going to be a mere human, if not a well-trained one.

In theory you can pick one of the usual races people choose, I'm just worried that an angel will swoop from the skies and rage blazing holy fury upon hapless humans. The BC shows us many wonderful creatures, races, and abilities, but I'm sure we won't miss them all that much. I'd rather have a fight of two evenly matched people, or greater numbers against a powerful foe, as opposed to having someone jump fifty feet across a battlefield unleashing a maelstrom of lead from his cliche desert eagles.

-

As for the army set up, I'm thinking that it would depend on resources, leadership, and sheer population. For example, were a nation to have their border whittled down increasingly, they would fight with fewer number in each battle. Eventually the kingdom might make a last desperate defence on their capital city walls, using an army of wounded and peasants or militia.

I've thought of things that would change the nations or their leaders in various ways, but I'm still refining the idea before suggesting it.

As for the actual tactical aspect, I would rely mostly on the actions of the leaders. Their unit types will make a difference, and either party should act their losses and gains respectively. General scores of enemies are simple, cavalry do major damage to footmen, unless they're hit be a spear wall. Siege weapons attack castles better and such, the usual. Due to the fact that I suspect each army will vary greatly (kobold armies are usually just incredibly large masses of below average soldiers) The tactics and effects will change as well. Full rules can be flushed out later, since the first portion of the event would be fortification and politics.

I'm not suggesting to remove all the fantasy races, I'm just suggesting smaller amounts of them. Perhaps bands or elite shock troops of a certain race, but generally not an entire army of supernatural creatures. A lot of this will have to do with when the map is made up, and the placement of resources and terrain.

---

Heswina: I grasped the concept of your suggestion, were merely explaining the way my opinion mirrored your own. =)

The reaction of a general or hero, or basically a king against a peasant or normal troop isn't really that uneven. Plots and ploys come and go, kings send assassins or archers poison their arrows. s**t can happen on the battlefield, even to the best. It's merely a template, a base suggestion that the general should be a visibly greater and more skilled force then the troops, just like real life. A player int he service of another isn't neccisarily weaker, in fact, an elite soldier (The lower ranked) could simply prove themselves, after which the leader would surely note the skill and success, likely giving them a reward such as a promotion.

As for the main issue of a leader, I don't think that should a problem. ^____^

---

Yotsy: I'm glad you approve of the suggestion. In any case on the note of you playing Yotsy, I'm a bit at odds. I certainly don't want to limit your experience, but at the same time I'm hoping for a new level of originality. I can't remember you being a really key figure in the larger sections, so Yotsy having just travelled is certainly possible. Basically what I'm doing is trying to stay away from having something like Tyr, KB, or Mastema fall into AI and wrecking things, causing issues and whatnot. Not only are they technically busy in the BC realm, it unevens the gameplay when those power levels conflict.

Yarr. I'm indecisive.

---

Focht: Your advertisement of your inability or lack of desire to play IC isn't really much of a boon to anyone. If anything it seems a bit destructive, but maybe I'm reading the vibe inaccurately. I'm glad we have your advice at our fingertips and such, and merely hope that somehow you manage to get inspired to play with everyone else.

---

Kai & Nox - Interesting, I hope this lasts. As for you Kai, I'm glad I've managed to catch your interest. whee

Any contributions anyone has in regards to art for the island is appreciated. I have a couple of rough designs on the subject, but I'd prefer to have a communal effort on the subject. I know we have capable artists, and people than can grasp geological and resource placement. Basically we'll probably mesh together all the best ideas, those of which we can mostly all agree on. Half of this entire project is to make untempered steel into something noteworthy.

Well, as of yet, I'm more or less planning what I myself would want to do in Absit Invidia.

My current train of thought is that my AI character is an older, grown-up version of my BC main storyline character, Halcyona. She'll be allied with whomever claims the north end of the island, as that's geographically where her mark is. Eventually, though, she may hire out her services. She's a harpy (a rather mundane mythological entity), and commands harpies and birds - aerial units.

It'll be somewhat difficult to regulate character creation, especially as we can't moderate it. Ideally, to prevent too many half-breeds from popping out of their writer's creative womb, I would want these strictures to be in place:

1. Heterosis (hybrid vigor) is never total - it is always limited by sterility, as well as at least two other weaknesses for every strength gained. (Example: the stereotypical angel-demon cross may have advanced command of both holy and evil powers, but has crippled wings, a frail, sickly body, and is impeded by errors in judgement due to conflicting moralities.)

2. The hybrid can never match or surpass the parent in a particular trait without also having a severe disadvantage at another.

3. The disadvantages are always severe. And any brilliance they may have dies with them.

Harpies, that's amusing. Someone just bought themselves a volley of arrows, and they're not on the nice side of them either. xp

In any case, the issues regarding racial drawbacks shouldn't be too bad. I figure most people know how to keep their stuff in check if they actually put their minds to it.

As for positiong, I think it'd be best to play them randomly. Makes it equal for each person who starts be it old or new, and allows a certain incentive to move upon another nation.

Of course arrows are the primary defense against aerial units, but for the most part my units won't be fighting by themselves, they're aerial support for ground troops.

I don't mind that position is random. Race homelands can be considered one of the resources of a particular kingdom.

Always a pleasure KB. domokun I'm freeing up some time soon, so I can most likely throw some art into this heart I posted a rough profile, to be reviewed, since I'd like to see what is acceptable and what isn't. I'm still rather busy with life but I'm sure sneeking in some posting time here shouldn't be a problem. heart

Seems like I miss all the times when everyone seems to be online anymore. Guess that's because I'm out of whack with this new west coast time zone. lol. It's terrbile. I keep calling home at a decent hour where I'm at and it's like late as hell at home sweatdrop I so have to get used to this.

Anyway,

KB,
In regards to me using my character Yotsuba in any RP here in AI, I highly doubt should be a problem. As you said, she wasnt really important in the BC Rp's. When I RP'd her there she didn't have contact with anyone more than Focht really. ((Wow... that's sad... )) Regardless, if anything of her current workings are problematic, I can alter anything.
Guess I'm just hard-headed, she's the only character I've ever grown attached to ^^; and she grows when I grow. lol. She's my alter ego xd But everyone who know's what it's like to really RP understands me I'm sure.

I'm going to bed, will get round to stuff here in the morning or afternoon.

Oh, and congrats Yotsy on that whole marriage thing. xp
