I thought that New Moon was better then Twilight. I guess its just more my type of book.

i liked New Moon, but i have a theory about 2nd books in a series of books. This doesnt apply to all series, but i have noticed this.

2nd books are usually the least enjoyed, but have some of the largest quantites of information concerning future books.

ex: Harry Potter. the second book was and will probably always be my least favorite, yet it held BOUNDS of info for the future (aka the diary. and Tom R.)

ex2: the redwall series, Mossflower. my friend who read it, couldnt get through it and said it bored her completely, yet it also had TONS of info concerning future books.

so i figure, like some have already said, that this is giving info/ setting up for an even better future book. even though i loved it all the same (Twilight was better..........it had more heart Jasper heart .)

sorry about talkng about oter books, other than Twilight& such. needed examples.

New Moon was a bign dissapointment I agree but think about it. She had to set us up for Eclipse and stop the action for a little bit. The ending was the best my favorite part was when Bella was sitting on Edwrd's lapp crying for those who wer screaming and who had no idea what was to become of them. Wierd I know but its the truth. It's the first time she really did not like the thought of being a vampire, even fi it was for only a breif second.

Yah i have heard that the second book is always the worst b4. I dont know i guess that is just how it is the 2nd book always stinks. But i did really like the beginning and end of the book (expecially the proposal) I have read twilight mutliple times all the way through but i just havent been able to read the middle of Ne Moon again stressed

i thought that there were the occasional exciting parts here and there but it really dragged on without the cullens. just interesting parts like when Laurent almost attacked bella and edward was talking to her in her head and stuff like that. (i was so confused as to whether he was watching her secretly and really talking to her or something. tho i found out it was her wishful thinking) i really liked the beginning and that part where edward compares bella to a comet in teh sky really made me go....EEK! whee

other than that it WAS sorta dull. it was kinna confusing and then it wasn't as impressive when they went to meet the Volutri. jsut like...oh, i see...the ending was like WHAT?!?!?!?! THAT's IT?!?! ARRGHH! scream lol

there are a lot of loose ends but i guess that's what's gonna make Eclipse so cool!

Well, I wouldn't say it sucked, just that Twilight was better. Stephenie is a brilliant authoress, and it only took me two days to read the book because it was really good. I liked reading the relationship between Jacob and Bella, but personally I just kept waiting and waiting for when Edward was going to come back. (Yes, I'll admit, I was watching spoiler videos and such before reading the book...I had been waiting for too long anyways xx'; wink

It needed more action. I spent the entire time waiting for Edward to come back and when he did, things did start to pick up pace. Twilight was more of the development of the relationship and whatnot but it lends excitement to the actual chase of the seemingly unatainable. I didn't quite like Jacob and I think Bella has grown slightly aloof. That's just my opinion but I still like the books.

I kinda agree with you .... it was not as good as twilight, but i think it needed to happen ... there needed to be that "absence makes the heart grow fonder" type thing. and i dont even like jacob all that much ... which maed the middle even more painful...

i'd just say the middle was LONG ... not bad ...

mrgreen

yea I agree with that "absence makes the heart grow fonder" thing. I think that it needed to happen because we needed to know that Jacob was a werewolf. And the thing with Victoria.

okay after reading something stephenie wrote on her site i kinna have a 2nd opinion. whee

yea i thought hte book was pretty bad the first time i read it. i was like WHAT!? that's it?! i mean i know what happened was IMPORTANT to the plot, but it's a little better once u go through it the 2nd time. basically this is what happens when we first read it right???? sweatdrop :

"When the advanced reading copies began to fall into the hands of my fans, I asked people read New Moon twice, promising that I would explain why later. It's later, and this is why: the first time through New Moon, I've found that readers are so anxious about the absence of Edward that they can't settle into the middle portion of the book. They skim and speed read and flip ahead until, at last, they find him again. However, at that point they've missed the main section of the novel almost completely. On a second reading, knowing that Edward will return to the story at the proper place and time, the reader can slow down and enjoy the wondrousness that is Jacob Black."

--Stephenie Meyer

plus a light kinna went on when i realized that the whole point of the story (besides setting up eclipse) was to truly confirm that edward and bella really belong together. they're always saying to eachother 'you're too good for me emo ..' in twilight, right?

it didn't SUCK, but i think twilight is better.
1, because i like edward and i didn't like not having him there
2, because i prefer vampires to werewolves, and
3, i really don't care if bella likes motercycles. it bored me.
the last 200 or so pages ( from where alice comes back) were really good. i like the Volturi, and i liked the suspense. and i like alice heart
i'm hopng eclipse will be better.

Ironically, I dislike New Moon, but love the two examples you listed. My favourite Harry Potter book is the second, and I enjoyed Mossflower much more than several other Redwall books in the series.

I couldn't read New Moon a second time. I just couldn't.

I did want Edward to come back when I first read it, but I gave it a chance because I KNOW that you can't constanly have Edward and Bella together all happy and stuff, it makes for a boring book. What I really disliked was the complete personality change regarding Jacob. I loved Jacob's character early in the book. He was funny, nice, cute, and had his flaws and then BAM!

"I'm so angsty and and angry all of the time because I'm a werewolf and you'll think I'm a freak even though your ex is a vampire who drinks blood. *b***h b***h* (excuse my language), *whine whine*, I'm your typical 2D angry charatcer!"

It was then that I began to really hate the book. And I hated it sooo much. And then Alice came back and then everything got better what with the Volturi (who were absolutely fascinating!) and the suspense with Victoria and all.
