Hmm. In terms of approval - I'm not sure I can give it quite yet.
My major concern is that this would be the reincarnation of a fairly normal human, and while she did have the supernatural occurance after death... I don't think that's enough. :/
Don't get me wrong, it's a neat story, but there's a few things that give me pause, including what could she ascend into as an Ancient? I like her personality, I like her powers, but the way the folktale is tied up into the moral of "do bad things and it'll get you no matter what" - the magic is more a case of the moral expressing itself, than any supernatural ability of the girl's own. So while I think it's a neat story, I'm don't think it's appropriate for Fa'e as the game stands now.
Please don't take this personally, though - I really liked how you built out the base story, and I'm completely positive that you could take a more suitable tale and weave it out into something awesome. I'd be happy to help you find something if you want help, and to re-review that when the time comes, okay? heart
