Haha, I hate how they pronounced Lucrecia's name nad Nibelhiem!
I agree with Jhay-R on the pronounciation as well!
"Luu-kre-shi-a" or something. Not "Luu-kretz-ia".
And "Nii-bell-hee-m" not "Nibel-hyme".

Hmmm i think if Sephiroth did have a second name it would be a bit of a spoiler.Although if they gave him a second name it should be Masamune named after his sword.Think about it Sephiroth Masamune sounds pretty cool although id prefer him with no second name mrgreen

I wonder, a last name is usually given for title such as doctor, and professor, it may very well be that we don't know Hojo's first name at all and Hojo is simply is last name used for his title.

Useless Bob Actually, Sephiroth Hojo may be right. I'd need Strawberrie here if I was to be completely sure, but I know that in Japanese, the last name is the really important one, and sometimes, a person is adressed only by their last name and an honorific. Now, assuming that in translation, they would have cut the honorifics, Hojo could be a last name. As far as pronunciation goes, I just go with whatever I first thought it said. I started the game at age 6. Don't count on me for pronunciation. Actually, the taking on of the father's last name only goes through if the father is married to the mother (unless at a later age the child chooses otherwise). While Lu did have Hojo's child marriage was never something that came up. So unless Hojo and Lu did legally marry Sephiroth would have inherited the Crescent name.

I'd go with Crescent, since that was Lucrecia's sirname and she is his mother. I'd just go without the sirname though, since Sephiroth sounds a lot better by it's self. I dont think she and Prof. Hojo were married though, so theres no chance if Seph's sirname being Hojo!

Could be different in Japanese, but as far as I know, we only know Hojo by a last name and title only. So Hojo as a last name for Sephiroth seems to make a tad more sense than Cresent...even though the latter sounds TONS better.

I know plenty of kids who had their father's last name in a similar situation.

I know plenty of kids who had their father's last name in a similar situation. Children in the situation of having the father's last name only happens on three situations... 1: The father has sued the mother for custity and the court named the father primary caregiver. (If Sephiroth's last name is Hojo a reason along these lines would be most likely) 2: The child chooses his father's name when deemed old enough to make such a decision. 3: The mother decides she wants the child to have the father's name. (Most women do this because when signing the birth certificate they do not know they have a right to the name)
