Thats actually a hard one because not one band is the best at everything... They all have something that they contributed to metal some gave us drumming styles, others bass playing styles, guitar playing styles, better lyrics, more interactivity with the crowd at concerts, etc. the list goes on... so you can't single out one band as the best you'd have to look at it's individual attributes and what it gave to metal... to me there is no God band of Metal they all contributed something to better metal... there's my input on the subject...

I believe it is Iron Maiden, but there is no clear cut answer. It is all a matter of opinion and that is mine. I think Priest deserves a lot of credit. Sabbath invented it, Priest added to it, and Maiden perfected the sound that almost every band has tried to imitate, and EVERY band can probably trace their influences to Maiden. (EX: Trivium is influenced strongly by Metallica who were influenced by Maiden specifically Piece of Mind)

There can only be one.
Mr. Ronnie James Dio.
He's 65 and still going strong. Nobody but he should be worthy of Metal God status.
He's just that great 3nodding

I'm gonna have to give it to all of Ozzy's stuff. Black Sabbath really did start the metal genre and Ozzy continued to innovate even after Sabbath.

NILE!!!!!! Karl Sanders can shred at a speed of a billion note per second, yet it is so clear you can hear every note and middle eastern sounding parts. And George Kollias's legs when he does his double bass are faster han the speed of light. And Dallas Tolar-Wade's ability to keep up with Karl and do the vocals at the same time is extrodanary. They sometimes let the basist play. But he needs a basist when you guitars in drop A.

Hmmm... I'd say there are multiple
Black Sabbath (of course) Mötörhead (couldn't remember which o has the dots over it) Judas Priest & Iron Maiden Mötley Crue Metallica/Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax Death
Now my reasoning on choosing the said bands are that they either created their genre, perfected, or expanded upon it. I understand that most of you will disagree with some of my choices, but my decision is final biggrin Thank You

King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, the Melvins, Sadus, Slayer, Megadeth, Tool, Death, Venom, Celtic Frost (Omitting Cold Lake obviously), Manowar, Dio, Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste, Funeral, Trouble, Electric Wizard, Early Metallica and Anthrax. Thats just a few of the true greats. Oh and Blue Cheer. They actually did invent heavy metal.

Well, I do really like Metallica, they deserve to be up there, but honestly, even if they were up there, I'd still go with Iron Maiden.
