simply put, my parents raised me christian, but i didn't personally come closer to christ until earlier this year. i was in a deep depression and started talking to my aunt more, who was really religious, and i got really in to praying which helped me out. she died a few months after that, now jesus has one more angel up there with him.

I came to Christ through a small church after a long history of attending a very large, Catholic church. While Catholic, our family never seemed comfortable in such a large church. And all the traditions and prayers and all those things just turned us away even more. After years of attending a Catholic Church, we stopped. But not long after that, we began looking into other churchs. We found several and tried them out. None of them were right for us at all. There was something that we couldn't connect with. So we stopped going to church.
It wasn't until several years later that my parents saw an advertisement for a Marriage Workshop at a very small church. My mom and dad, seeking to strengthen their relationship with the help of God and other families, took up this opportunity. Little did we know that this church was the perfect church for us. It was only about 30-40 families at the time (now it's only 40-50, so it's still very small)
There was a Youth Leader in this church by the name of Jerry. This man made the love of God and Jesus so real to me. It was because of his wisdom and guidance that I accepted Christ through my heart at Acquire the Fire 2001 in Houston, TX.
But shortly after this, Jerry was at a Seminar in Chicago. There he suffered an Aneurism and died.
I am thankful that he was in my life long enough to bring me to Christ. But he wasn't there long enough for me to get to know him (Jerry) on a more personal level. This I still regret, but am still pursuing Jesus and God as much as I can in my daily life.

I was/am raised in a christian home and I have had 2 experiences that have brought me closer to him.

When I was little I'd always hear of this jesus guy. And when I was about 2 or 3 (yes I still remember) I asked my mom who jesus was. She told me everything, like she was waiting for that day to come. By then I was pretty close to god, but I was still too young to really understand.

The other time was probably when I was in 6th grade and I had the hardest teachers that practically crammed thing in your head. I had a lot of trouble because I would get really good grades and it felt like people would look at me and think that I was perfect or something. I mean, here's a girl who's religious, follows the rules, never says bad words, gets good grades, and is nice to people. One night I started crying, at first because I was sad, but then I started to think, who could help me? I knew right away. I then really though about my faith, I cried again, but this time it was because I was happy. That is when I really surrendered to god. blaugh

I always like thinking back on it. 3nodding

Same goes for me, I was raised as a Christian and accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was about 6 or so, but have often be incorrectly view as being the perfect Christian (doesn't swear, is always extra nice, helpful, etc.). Only in the past few years I have begun to really seek God with my whole heart. heart

I became a christian at the age of 5. I was raised in a christian home, and i went to a vacation Bible school in the neighborhood after school with my sister. I had always noticed that my family seemed to be happier than most families on my block and I wanted what my parents, brother and sisters had. I realized what they had was Christ in their heart, so at the tender young age of 5, I understood everything I was doing and the concept of it all. I have been a christian ever since, and have seen many miracles in my lifetime by Lord God using me as His vessel. heart wink

I came to accept the Lord into my heart when i was about 5 years old. I grew up in the traditional Christian home with my parents and my brother. I went to VBS over the summer, and my Grandma would read us stories from the bible whenever we came to visit her on weekends or the summer. Also, when i was little, i went to sunday school...the tradition of the presbyterian church. I went through the 6th grade, and then found that I could join a youth group after that. 7th grade, i drew away from sunday school and youth group, but I started taking classes to get baptised. Late of my 7th grade year, I was baptised in the church where i grew up, and became a member of that church. In the summer after my 8th grade year, i joined a youth group and the worship team, and I found that God had given me a truly AWESOME and AMAZING voice and talent. I have found God through worship and through tradition, but I believe that He has been with me no matter what i did through my walk with him since I was born

I've grown up a Christian. My parents had brought me to church and we always went. But when we moved to California we sorta got offtrack from churches and gave it up for a while.

Well I was in college and one of my friends in my Anatomy class said they're holding this food party kind of thing. Well I always go to a church once to give them a chance (especially if it's one of my friends). The thing is it's an Assembly of God (Pentecostal) and I heard they speak in tongues and raising hands and getting really funky with their worship.

Well I went and I found out "Hey this isn't too bad". I was really majorlly impressed from the first day of their choir! I mean the church choir sings wonderful songs! They're fast paced and excellent! Well I went to the service and went to the thing afterwards. Then later I called my friend and I went to the night service. Then I told her I was like too bad your choir director wouldn't let me into the choir practice tonight. Well my friend we got to the church and she asks the director and the director says "Come on up". LOL!!!

I learned the songs we had to learn that night for the service and I was in the choir for the night service. I guarantee you that was a really strange night and I thank God for it. I've been in the choir ever since and it's now been one year and this has been one of the best years I've had!

Well, I was brought up in a baptist church until i was about 14.... then my mom and dad were seperated. and my dad wasn't allowed at our church... so he went to this AOG church. and up until then, I had never been exposed to pentecostal religions... well... I must have went on a good day cuz the spirit was doing all kinds of stuff there.. and it freaked me out.. so i went back to my church with all kinds of questions and wanted to know about it. they all kept referring me to the same scripture.. but their answers didn't satisfy me. I knew staying at that church I'd never find my answers. So... I began searching. I made it up in my mind when I started searching that I wanted to know more about the gift of tongues, what it was, and why only some people got it. Along the way, I also decided i wanted to know Jesus for myself. I didn't want to know him through my teachers, parents, or ministers at church. I was often reading my bible. You know how abraham is called the friend of god, and david a man after god's own heart. I wanted the Lord to testify of me like that. I wanted him to really consider me a real piece of work.. just for him. Well, the church that owned the school i switched to for high school was a COG one. and I went there for like... from half of my freshman year to half of my senior year. I did learn a lot there. I'm not saying I didn't... but, I was always feeling like I didn't fit there. And... I wasn't really finding that spiritual something I had left my previous church for. So... I went searching again my senior year. Then, these girls from my school who went to this apostolic church were telling the girl who sat next to me about a play at their church called Messiah. i was listening, and so i was like, "well can i come too? i wanna see that." so, I went. and their youth pastor greeted me and remembered me from a time i went to one of their lockins with some of my friends from school. and he said if i wanted to try their sunday school out i could call him for a ride and i did. and, that morning when i walked into their hallway... this strong feeling of peace and love and acceptance met me. Then, I knew that even if i didn't know why yet... this was it. This was the place i'd been searching for. So.. i kept going... and on mothers day, may 9th of 2003, that night, I got the gift of the Holy Ghost... heart whee whee and then went back that wednesday night to be baptized in Jesus' name!!!! whee whee and it was just soooo awesome... and all these people were there rejoicingn with me.. and it was just sooo great. I will never forget that for as long as I live. It felt sooooo good to finally find the answers I was after for so long.

And, it was so great because i had been in a private school learning scritpures to memorize. And, the gift of the Holy Spirit helped me so much; the HS became my teacher. He started revealing to me understanding about all the things I had been learning. And, also with that, he gave me a love of the bible and to be in the word. heart

and.. now here is am ... 12 years later.. He has been my one true friend... the only one to have stuck by me through some of the worst times in my life that have happened in those times.

Because I believe it is important for all of us to hear testimonies of our walk in christ, I have stickied this thread.

I was raised Christian but I didn't really come close to Christ until after a car accident that could have taken my life when I was 13. I immediately knew what I had to do. I found him that day lying in the middle of the street.

Well I was also raised in a christian family and accepted christ when I was young...
but I knew exactly what I was doing. When I was 13 I asked a bunch of questions tho and I had some doubts, but that did not last for long because I asked God my questions and He cleared everything up for me. my whole life has been a very slow and long process of growing in christ. The summer after I turned 18 I really wanted to strengthen my relationship with God and I accepted the holy spirit and learned the difference between loving God and trusting God. He's blessed me all my life and I will forever be grateful... heart

I was the first Chrisitan in my family. Ever since the whole 9/11 ordeal, I was scared that something like that would happen to me. I went to see friends that were going to church and asked them to take me to church. They talked to me about how life is everlasting and how I could have everlasting life in Christ.
