Aoki was relieved to see that they'd arrived just in time to see the first egg crack. She looked around for a familiar face and saw G'dor cradling Will in his lap. He looked tired and tense and it was obvious he'd had a hard night. She pointed up towards him, "Can you let me off near G'dor? He looks like he needs some cheering up."
Lyedarith landed as near as he could and Aoki hopped down. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him fiercely, "And it seems like only a short time ago it was me down there with you."
Now we are the older ones watching the new lives starting.
"Indeed." Aoki sighed, "Go on up with the others, love."
Once Lydarith had found a place among the other dragons, Aoki hurried over to grab a seat beside G'dor, "Morning. What a time for a hatching huh?

((Is so exciting!))
Dashing into the grounds, Feather yawned again... she'd been up most of the night wondering about the eggs she'd been given yeaterday evening. Hoping she wasn't too late, she slipped off the light sandals she'd used to protect her feet on her run across the bowl and joined the other Candidates, white-robed and hopeful.
Looking expectantly at the eggs, she noticed a crack in one of them... Without warning, the dragon within suddenly spilled from the shell, and she could only stare...

G'dor jumped slightly as he was addressed. He had been lost in his usal train of thought again and was completely caught off guard. Will meowed in protest, looking between G'dor and Aoki with a soft purr. G'dor rose a free hand to his forehead, clearing his face of some of the white hair that had fallen into it before looking over to Aoki with a shy smile, "Aoki... pardon but I didn't see you coming."
His eyes rose as Tarnith once again appeared among the dragons- it was easy to pick him out. K'elt wasn't here so he was the only bronze up there. Even then Tarnith had a terribly impressive build. With a bit of a proud smirk he returned his gaze to his friend, "I'm not really one for hatchings. I was right in the assumption that if I came to one that I'd meet one of you here." He chuckled, "We've not spoken to eachother in a while... I kind of feel isolated with all that's been going on." He turned to watch the sands but didn't seem at all thrilled like pretty much everyone else, "One big event after another. Next thing you know the senior queen will raise."
It was a bit of sarcasm but it was also unmasking part of why he looked so concerned for Aoki. He was never really direct with his feelings. If someone grew offended by them he'd at least have the grounds to say that he was just implying sarcasm.

Viant looked to where the bronze flit had indicated and beamed. he waived at his sister
"T'thia you made it!"
he turned and scanned the dragons for her bronze not finiding him he figured she hadn't learned how to go between yet. now knowing his sister was watching he was able to hapily turn back to the eggs and pay attention. Viant caught glimpses of other candidates running in to place out of the corner of his eyes.

(coming in from Open thread)
K'elt pelted full speed into the hatching area, and moved quickly up into the viewing stands. He saw Aoki and G'dor, so he moved to join them. "Hi guys! Sorry...I'm...late (breathing hard from running while still tired). He plopped himself next to G'dor, and craned his neck to see what was going on...already the first shells had cracked and new hatchlings were emerging. Garanth took a place with the other dragons, humming a deep bass note of welcome.

((Hopping over from Benden ^^))
Berylaith popped from between and wheeled quickly, avoiding another random dragon in the air as the agile green came in for a landing.
Kasira gasped and grabbed onto the straps for a moment. Careful!
I knew where I was going... Her dragon's voice was tinged with mock annoyance, amusement clear underneath it.
Kasira shook her head and laughed as she hopped down to the ground and wandered toward the small group forming of older riders.
For her own part, Beryl took a couple of quick running strides and launched into the air again, quickly finding an unoccupied perch where she could see down onto the Sands.

((J'ran is just an NPC, he's Faerra's brother, just here for the hatching))
Arriving from between, a large, dark bronze dragon lands gently, depositing his rider to the ground. The rider, a young man of perhaps 19 or 20, dismounted agily, noting the difference in temperature all at once. Coming from Ista, it had been boiling there, almost unbearable, here it was nice, not hot, but nice. The rider looked up as the drgon had started the customary humming, telltail of a hatching. He smiled, recalling his own those turns ago at Ista. Yes, it was the most wonderful feeling in the world, and he hoped that Faerra may too experience it. It is different here than it is at Ista. Not as hot.
Yes, I noticed that, it is a rather nice change. Now where is that girl...?
On the hatching sands, she is a candidate after all. Where else would she be? Galuth's voice was amused.
J'ran just smiled at the bronze, he didn't know what sarcasm was. Shaking his head, he watched as Galuth rose up, finding a good place on the ledges where he could watch the hatching. J'ran hurried to the stands, taking a seat as he scanned the sands for Faerra. He smiled as he saw her in the white candidate robes, looking slightly nervous. It was understandable, but being her brother, he found it somewhat amusing. she was always so assertive, and forward, it was different. But, of course he gave her an encouraging smile as she turned to the crowd and met his gaze. Good luck to you he thought silently to her. _____________________________________________
Faerra shifted in the sands, watching the hatchling as it emerged from it's shell. How wonderful! It was amazing being this close. She smiled to herself. The green orbs moved upwards a a shadow of a dragon moved across the sands. As it landed, she saw it was a bronze, though very dark...could it be? It must! She would recognize Galuth anywhere! So that must mean...turning her head, she ocne again scanned the crowds, looking. She didn't have to look far, as she saw J'ran's face, the familiar smile encouraging her on. She felt a grin leap across her face. So he had come. She knew he would. Still slightly nervous, she turned back to the eggs, though happy that her brother was here. It gave her encouragement.

G'dor smiled over to K'elt as he came to join them, looking back down to the now purring Will in his lap. The small kitten had curled himself up in his owner's lap, kneeding at his leg with his little paws and looking up to him with his eyes half parted- a contented feline smile on his pink lips. It was comforting to see the little creature so calm and content even with all the noise around him. Will had been an unexpected asset to his sucessful thread fight. Not a thread had scored any in G'dor's minature team of four. Will's senses were sharp- felines had a sixth sense and were in tune with nature and it's workings. He knew before hand when the thread was falling. His acute sense of smell, hearing, and sight had aided in the battle. Will was generally a silent feline but when thread grew near his scream was enough to even compare to a dragon's trumpet simply out of the sheer shrillness in his voice. The panic and warning to both himself and the other three he cared for thick in the creature's tone. But he was calm- a normal feline just might have scrambled, throwing claws everywhere and spitting in protest. Will never raised a hair off his back.
G'dor carried much of the same traits. Though everyone around him was exctited and full of joy and fond meomory, he was lost in his thought and very calm in doing so. He was never one for large gatherings and aside from his own, this was the only hatching he had attended. Even then his reasoning wasn't for his own interest in social gatherings. He was loanly and hadn't seen his friends in a long time. He hadn't had anyone to be with when the young rider died, no one congradulated him on his fight against the thread, and no one would speak to him about his concerns about his future. It seemed selfish but that was part of why he didn't mention any of this to the others.
He glanced to K'elt, smiling a bit, "Good flight, K'elt. I couldn't think of anything better to represent all that being a bronze rider should be than your performance in the air."

K'elt grinned. "Garanth flew thread wonderfully, but I need to learn when to duck..." He held up his threadscored arm to prove his point. "We did a lot of practice with quick manouvers, and going between in short hops. After....well, the training accident...It just seemed prudent to do so. Garanth has gotten that nailed now, so I completely trust him going between. You and Tarnith did great too, and I could swear I heard Will once or twice, howling like a banshee! You did well too, Aoki. And don't think I did not notice you protecting Garanth's six once or twice there...thanks. As for that threadfall, well, I hope they are not all like THAT. From what the older riders that I spoke with have told me, that was a pretty brutal fall - particularly as it was supposed to be 'routine'. I guess 'routine' is a relative term." K'elt decided to change the subject, it was depressing him to think about it.
"I must say, this clutch of dragonettes has great timing. This weyr really needed a boost in morale, and nothing does that like a hatching - except a gather. So, is it too late to take bets on who impresses? " K'elt's expression turned to his cutomary smirk, with a little raised eyebrow to add some question to the expression. I could ask the hatchlings, if you like...some already know who they are looking for, not by name or face, just by their feelings... *No! That would be cheating!* K'elt laughed out loud at Garanth's actually taking him seriously.

((I've got three NPC's I'm going to use. So far they are Simeon (Nevaeh's father), Shakina (Her mother), and Abigail (Nevaeh's baby sister).))
Coming out from between the brown dragon quickly landed letting off the three passengers he had been carrying besides his rider. The brown quickly took off heading for an open perch with the other dragons that were now watching the hatching.
Simeon took off at a run with his wife Shakina in hand and their baby daughter Abigail in her arms. "Hurry we are late as it is. I want to see Nevaeh in her most precious moment."
"Simeon please slow down you're scaring abigail." Simeon stopped and turned to face his wife. "Alright." Simeon said taking the baby girl from his wife hands. "Let go." Again they started up the stands finding a seat close to the middle by a few people Simeon knew from his younger days when he once lived as a holder of this very Weyr.
Shakina once seated began searching the young candidates looking for Nevaeh. It didn't take her long for Nevaeh's dark hair and skin really stood out among the candidates. Shakina waved finally catching Nevaeh's attention. Simeon smiled as Shakina pointed out Nevaeh after she had found her and he too waved to Nevaeh. "She looks beautiful."
____________________________________________
Nevaeh was enchanted by the beautiful dragon who stood in front of her and the other candidates that were still arriving. She could hardly take her eyes from this beautiful young creature but something was telling her to check the stands. It just felt like there was somebody watching her from there only her but who would want to watch her.
Finally she turned her eyes from the baby dragon and scanned the stands. There she saw them up close to the middle of the stands her mother and father both where here to watch her. She smiled up at them as they waved to her. Quickly she waved back at them smiling a happy smile.
Today was the happiest day of her life not because she was a candidate for the most beautiful and respected creatures on Pern but because now she knew that her mother and father cared enough to come she her at one of her finest moments she will ever have. This made her heart soar.
((Aww... How sweet huh? Hey Tara are you going to tell us what the little dragon does soon? The suspense is killing me!))

Aoki bushed at K'elt's words, "It's really no big... but I did mean to ask you G'dor... did you get my message through the dragons? It was wicked crazy for a minute and there was thread going for both of you. I knew you'd be able to duck it, but K'elt... that would have been nasty. I was so nervous the rest of the fall... I wanted to see if you were okay, but I haven't been able to find you lately."
"I don't know the candidates well enough to bet on who'll Impress... but I'd say Naeyrn might have a chance..." She watched the candidates standing on the sands and grinned, "Hey guys... do you remember? The hatching was the day we met! We were all getting ready to go eat and the eggs started to hatch!"

He didn't remember getting Aoki's message. Everything had gone so quickly it was hard to tell heads from tails half the time. Of course, he could remember the screaming of his feline companion and he was grateful that it was very much like the call of a banshie. It had saved him from one too many close calls. Seeing the threadscore on K'elts arm wedged a bit of guilt in the pit of his throat... perhaps he hadn't fought as hard as K'elt had. He had come out without so much as a clump of ash in his hair and K'elt had been schored. He opened his mouth to say something to that reguard but they changed the subject back to the hatching. He didn't want to say that he was uninterested in the hatching at hand... so he addressed Aoki's statement first, "Yes... I recall our own hatching very well." His voice was probibly almost too soft to hear above the excited mutterings.
"And... I havn't met any of the canidates, I just don't speak to anyone I suppose other than the both of you."

Kasira wandered up toward G'dor, K'elt and Aoki. She caught the tail end of their conversation about the Fall and winced slightly. "I guess Beryl and I got there a little late... sweatdrop " She looked a bit embarrased. "We were out at the lake and had to go back to the weyr to get all our gear..."

((vv Can you guys refrain from putting what the dragonets do? I need to rearrange the order of the hatching now. And you don't impress until I actually put "Impression occured". ^^" Hatchlings may interact with you but not Impress k?))
The hatchling stumbled out it's prison, falling nose first into the sands. Clumisly it managed to get up keening softly in pain. The small dragonet stumbled foward a few paces, before it's wings overbalanced it and it took another ungraceful dive to the sands right in front of Neveah. Briefly it struggled to get to it's feet.
At the same time, a loud crack resounded. On a medium sized egg not too far away a round a crack curled up into a circle. That circlular peice of shell suddenly fell outwards. A small snout pushed it’s way through the hole in it’s egg, getting stuck. Faint whimpers drifted across the sands as the dragonet tried to pull back out of it. Almost audibly, the sharp shards of shell scraped across the dragonets mouth. Blood oozed from the scratches looking almost like a small feline’s whiskers. With another resounding crack, two holes popped out at the bottom. Struggling the hatchling, put it’s clawed feet through the holes and attempted to move out towards the candidates.

Gail was watching the hatching intently when familiar voices drifted down to her; she looked up to find Aoki, G'dor, and K'elt in conversation. She slipped out of her seat and climbed the tiers towards them seating herself next to K'elt. "I was wondering when I'd see all you guys." She said cheerily rearranging her skirt. She turned to G'dor and chuckled. "Sorry about dousing you in thread ash, we got a bit close, but no harm done, eh? And K'elt, thanks for saving our hide; I kind of panicked when the thread surrounded us like that and Xaith didn't know what to do... But here we are, all safe and mostly sound... So, does anyone know how many eggs there actually are? I've heard many accounts from other riders; there are many bets going around. It seems that many think Glith is hiding some..." She shrugged and turned to watch another egg crack open, it was a rather large egg and the dragonet seemed to have trouble getting out. "I wonder if we all looked that frightened when we were down there." Gail mused, chuckling.
