Part Two"And suddenly there was nothing but darkness and light and darkness and light and...
THUD!
Something hit Raven's head hard and she didn't notice how her young body crashed down onto the asphalt of a street. Far away a pair of light was coming closer."She instinctively curled up by the curb into the fetal position as the horns blared and the lights stabbed at her in passing. A voice that leaned out the window of the truck to yell at her stupidity was quickly wisked away as it sped by; missing her by inches at high speeds. It was not long after that a little beat up car, a little curved ratty almost looking "BMW Bug" pulled up by the shaking figure. Squeaked to a stop and the lights were shut off and a leggy man seemed to unfold out. It was amazing that he fit into that tiny car!
His shoulders were broad and his sandy hair fell long, he folded himself back up to give a soft voice to Raven, however she was just rocking back and forth. Noting that there was trouble and that he would be late for his important date with Tekilite he called her.
"Tekiiii," the man stressed,
"Listen hun, I'm going to be a little late." A startled
"why?" came from the reciever as the man continued to study Raven. He noted the winged arms and his brow furrowed.
"Ah... just a poor little dicky bird by the side of the road. I gotta bring her to the hospital." His evasive answer cut Tekilite to silence.
"What?" she gasped on the other end of the cell phone after a moment.
"Tell you what, we'll start our get-together at the hospital, mmmkay?""Bryaaan. Fine, I'll see you there sweetie. I'm guessing it's important then," Tekilite ended the call and the man, Bryan, put away the cell phone.
He took another speculateive look and carefully scooped the shaking figure up. Raven fought, weakly, but nevertheless a few smacks did hurt. He kindly shushed her with a soothing voice and in moments the pair was at the hospital, checking her in for surgury. An arm was broken, and potentially also her leg.
Raven was mostly out of it as they guided her to the sterile room, but two... no... three...? A few faces swam in front of her. Tekilite's concerned look, which repeatedly flickered an annoyance to Bryan's all the while he smiled in that charming way that made Raven smile a little. It kind of reminded her of Alex.
And then there were the men and women in masks. But she didn't see them for too long as her eyes fluttered back closed as the mixed air from the plastic mask lulled her to sleep.
The three people in the waiting room were Tekilite Alanna Penwright and her twin brother, Bryan Michael Penwright, both not Raven's legal gaurdian.
Yet... And Loki, whom in a way, was Tekilite's son despite being... of an overly avian nature. (Essensially he was a human inteligent Red-tailed hawk with the most amazing markings.) The two humans had given a statement, and Bird's house was called. There was no answer. It was the dead of night! Where could Raven's guardian be? Tekilite sat down in that waiting room to wait for the surgery and in that meanwhile she drew up a letter to Eden Project for Loki to take.
This was a big ordeal.
It was over in little more than an hour. The hospital was going to keep her for a few days, to make sure things were alright. They had never... operated upon a winged-arm before and had to pluck a lot of the feathers, well her whole right arm was bare for the cast/sling. There were three pins in Raven's arm when it was all said and done. She had a hairline fracture in her left leg, close by her ankle.
For now she was asleep.
