Rinu-Yasha Twonk Pirupi You know, Twonk. That might be a good idea to fix the problem of Conan. One of my other favorite anime is Detective Conan/Case Closed, FUNimation has it, and they not only changed the names, but while the German dub's in the 300's(Or, so I've heard), we're at 80.. Been that way for a LONG time too. And now they're re-releasing all the conna DVDs at freaking 29 bucks each. But, if FUNimation went byebye, another company, like Geneon, could buy it 3nodding And another company would have to buy thost Lupin movies too, like Geneon.. Uhh.. I like Geneon 3nodding And then they'd acually pronounce the names right! YAY!!!!! And maybe Jigen wouldn't call Lupin boss! YAY! 3nodding I like Detective Conan as well, although on that I don't remember the voices irritating me. But then Cartoon Network did the same with that as they did with Lupin and put it on at like 4 in the morning or something and I never got to see it. I think I might just buy the mangas instead of the DVDs... That's way too much money. sweatdrop Geneon is awesome. It's just a shame they can't get more good animes to dub. I agree with Twonk. I like the voices; just some of the motives differ then in the manga. (I know, I have all but the latest volume... sweatdrop ) I don't like the name change, but I like the actors. Just not whoever does Jimmy. He has no emotion! gonk Example: Conan was looking for clues, this time, he had to find out about the word "Oro". It turned out to be hte Italian word for gold. Cono's face: eek Jimmy's voice actor: Oh. It means gold. He said it like "oh, wouldja look at that? it means gold. Very interesting. I wonder what's on channel four?" The DC voices never used to bother me, but I like watching the Japanese version now because I realized some of the puzzles are more complicated. Which is cool. Their releasing still is f*cked though. Also some of the phrases they used are weird, like 'jacked' and 'cramped your style'.. I think Geneon is putting out box sets of Lupin, I've seen them on Amazon, but I don't know if they're genuine. But the official site's hardly updated, so it's hard to know. They don't have so many fakes on Amazon though. EDIT: I have to admit the DVDs with the toys are awesome though 3nodding

roothands Are the Funi subs any good? The subs are fine,it's the dubs that make your ears bleed. If you're thekind of person who cares about geting as close to Japanese without actually learning it, FUNi keeps the suffixes untranslated. i.e. Lupin-san Fujiko-chan Instead of: Mr. Lupin Fujiko dear (Or Fuji-cakes, or some other endearment.)

It's so nice to I'm not the only one who absolutely hates F--....FUNimation. (wouldn't really be appropriate to put what I actually call it) I can't stand them. I've watched almost all the Lupin specials only because I'm addicted to Lupin. To be honest I much prefer the Italian dubs.(even though I don't speak a word of Italian) =P I have the green jacket series in Italian, as well as First Contact, Cagliostro, and Twilight Gemini.
I can't really say much here that hasn't already been said. A lot of my opinions have already been mentioned and discussed. Out of the three different English dub companies I've seen, I have to say that Geneon is my favorite. I could do without the modernization of the pop-culture references, but I'm pretty flexible with stuff like that. It's things like name pronunciation where I start setting off sparks.

Usually, I'm not really crazy about perfect name pronunciation, but they're COMPLETELY off! D= Try, why don't ya?
I've only heard a little of the Italian dub, but I only remember Jigen's voice really.
Some of those 'modernizations' and stuff seem a bit out of place, but they never bothered me a whole lot. Other things like 'Curious George' instead of just 'monkey' are fine by me as well. I don't think anything Geneon did with their dub, even some really awkward lines ever bothered me the way the FUNi dub does.
