le tigre is currently touring. the closest they came to alabama was nashville. surprising; i would've thought they'd go to atlanta at least. they're going to chicago on the 10th. and my dad might be going up there for something completely unrelated. and so there is a [slim] chance that i could see le tigre. biggrin
has anyone else been keeping up with the tour diaries? i loved jd's photoessay about kathleen and jo drinking coffee.

I love Le Tigre and Bikini Kill and Kathleen should be giving great respect for the Riot Grrrl movement but I have been pretty disappointed in her and the rest of Le Tigre lately what with them selling Le Tigre items at Hot Topic and helping Paris Hilton. I get wanting to get the word out and spread your message but to compromise your ideals and look completely hypocritical to do so; I definitely don't think it's necessary.

I've been a kathleen hannah fan for a while now, I think she's awesome, she's the one who first really got me into feminism (though my dad likes to take credit for my feminist beliefs: "it's in the family! Your great grandmother was a suffragette! She got the women's vote! etc") She's got a very raw energy that I really do appreciate, though I was disappointed to hear that le tigre are going to work with Paris Hilton of all people. Let's hope that this isn't the begining of the end.

paris hilton = bleargh.
i just got two more kathleen hanna solo songs, "i wish i was him" and "rockstar". the former is good, and the latter is an amazing spoken word that i strongly recommend obtaining if at all possible. i'll send it to anyone who's interested.

Are they from the Kathleen Hanna solo project or Julie Ruin? Which by the way for all of you looking for Julie Ruin, you can get it off Amazon.

I saw Le Tigre play infront of the washington monument a couple days ago, they were amazing, so full of energy. Kathleen Hanna said "I think its kinda funny that we're a feminist band playing infront of a phallic symbol, that thing needs some balls or something." I actually talked to my friends about spray painting balls to it...made me crack up.
The only thing about her that I don't approve of is that the new Le Tigre album "This Island" has really strayed away from the feminist/political roots of Le Tigre, and also Kathleen Hanna's use of cocaine. I hate to see good people fall for drugs.

i don't think le tigre is quite as good as kathleen's other bands. (yes, i am totally on a first-name basis with her. in my world.) they have some catchy songs, but many of them stray from their feminist roots. le tigre is still really good, though.
i was so disappointed to see le tigre shirts at hot topic. i really don't want them to become a commercialised band and for everyone to buy their shirts having only heard "tko" or "deceptacon". thankfully, at the hot topic here, they've stopped selling their shirts. they probably weren't bringing in enough money and had to be replaced with nirvana or nine inch nails or some other shitty band. good.
