Vudeux nodded softly and closed his eyes. His world swamp between darkness and blinding light. Time had no meaning, for he felt as if the throbbing pain of his wing had been there for ages.

Hoove beats in the distanced broke through his mind like the crashing waves around him. Vudeux realised that he had once again sank to his knees and with effort he stumbled to his feet. Was that the mare returning? he wondered, his eyes squinting into the distance and trying to make out the strange ever changing shapes that swam in front of his eyes.

K'jatu barreled twards the hurt stallion the woman onher back hunkered down against her shoulders andholding on for dear life. It was only when K'jatu skiddedto a stop did thewoman have an opportunity tosee where the horse had taken her. She slid off the mare's back unceremoniously and looked at the wounded stallion.

K'jatu siddled away and watched him anxiously, "I brought one of the two legger mares..."

The woman slowly approached the winged stallion taking account of the broken bone. She would need to set the bone... She didn't know if he would let her do that... She wandered aroundhim, speaking ina soft soothingvoice, "I'm here to help." She found a flat peiceof drift wood and brushed off the sand. She would use her clothes for banding if she had to, They could always be replaced.

K'jatu simplyworried, frettinga nd spinning in aggitated circles.

The stallion nodded his head at the ever moving shape of pale sand that at times looked like the mare. "Thank you." he said softly before hanging his head and sighing. How helpless he was now, in this moment. How his pride had fallen, and how he hated those two leggers.

His ears went back flat against his head as the two legger mare cooed at him, her soothing tone was hardly that...his fur lightly bristled as he feel her walk around her and he shook his head. The chains around his neck lightly chimed, forever a reminder of his past.

Shadows of his past dnaced through his mind, grim imagry of what had once been, and all that he was running from. He snorted softly and although he knew that keeping his wing was hinged on the two legger helping him, it made his stomach tie into a knot at the though of her touching him. Waves of pain washed over him, as the surf touched his hooves....

Shame, and sarrow at the fact that he may never fly again...and the fact that he had taken a dive in front of a mare and had required her aid and that of a two legger. What sort of stallion was he anyway...how scandilous.

The woman removed her skirt, biting at the edge with her teeth and Tearing the supple sude intolong strips. She knelt beside the stallion andlightly brushedhisnose, allowinghim a moment. He might be wild, but he was inpain and shedidn't want to startle him by touching him without any sort of warning.

Then, taking the driftwood, the woman set it on her lap, and began her work. It would be excruciating business, for she pushed loose featherout of the way tosee how the bone set beneath the skin, andfinally set to straightening the broken limb.

She pulled the tip ofhis wing ever sogently so that the bone would not scrape against itself, as she lined the two fractured edges together, andwith the driftwood, splinted the wing, firmly tucking and then tyeing the wing to the straight peiceof wood, and then binding it close tohis body so that it would be supported. If she had her way she would have wrapped his whole side just to makesure the bone would stay as she had mended it, but now timewould only tell.

Sitting back heavily in the sand, the woman let her face sink toher bloodied and sand covered hands. She needed to catch her breath.

Meanwhile

K'jatu curls up in the sand close to the stallion, whickering worriedly, but she had nothingtosay other than "I'll stay with you." She watched him with deep worry washed over her expression.

(( surprised I think I found a side of 'Tu that no one has ever seen before. ))

The dark stallion gave a loud screaming nicker as his bone was set back into place, His tail lashed against the sands and his hooves pranced in pain, throwing up the grit in mounds. His head shook from side to side, but he reamined where he was, fighting the urge to flee the two legger whom had caused him such pain, for in truth it had been himself as the cause.

His nostrils flared and his chest heaved, loud grunts escaped him as she begn to splint and bind his wound. Such a fool he had been... he should have been keeping a better watch on his footing... in truth he'd always been a little clumbsy on the ground.. he was a stallion of the air...

His tail again lashed at the sands, sending a spray in all directions. His world continued to swim in front of him and cold swet began to bead on his dark body misxing with the blood and grit that was clinging to his fur.

All at once the sharp pain seemed to dull and his stomach slowly settled back down out of his chest, he could breath again without the pain. His eyes opened and although he was groggy he could see the world with more clarity.

With a strain he kept himself on his feet, to sink into the sand now would mean death and he couldnt allow himself that respite. His eyes lingered on the two legger mare, covered in sand and his blood. Although weak, he did manage a small whicker of thanks to her....

Turning his head his indigo eyes fell upon k'jatu...how long had she been by his side? He couldnt rightly remeber. "Thank you.." he said, his voice cracked with dryness.

It was funny... had it not been for this accident, he probably would have left the strange mare after their race. Now the stranger was staying by his side and making sure everything was going to be alright. He owed her a great dept, for she had brought the two legger to him... "Im Vudeux." he said... realising that they hadnt so much as exchanged names.

((Heh, indeed, She's actually talking and not being snarky XD))

The mare offered a quiet nod, contemplated for a moment before replying, "I'm K'jatu." She offered a wan smile, still tinged with worry, "Couldn't just abandon you like that." She paused and seemed to nod again, "You're welcome."

She looked over to the two legged mare and siddled nervously. She had taken the woman a long way from the village, and yet the woman had done them a great service, but for the life of her, K'jatu could not think of a way to repay her efforts. She walked cautiously to where the woman sat and whuffled her hair softly and whickered a soft noise of thanks before returning to Vudeux's side. She didn't know how much more help he needed, but she felt it was best to make sure that he was alright, really, and didn't need her before she went and did something like running off.

This was certainly a different morning than she had anticipated.

Vudeux nodded his head and chuckled, his hair falling limply in front of his eyes. "yes...well thank you for staying...you dont have to." he said, his voice straited.

His world again sank into darkness, the stallion over whelmed with all that had come to pass that morning fell into a deep sleep. The healing sleep of someone who needed it.

Hours later, his eyes fluttered open, the gentle rays of the moon raining down upon him. Startled he looked around trying to get his barrings. "where am I?" he asked before the mornings events smacked him hard in the face. He looked over at his shoulder, bound tightly with the strange strips of cloth.

It was a funny thing, for the mare lay some paces away, lounging idly, but as she heard him speak her ears flicked forward and she offered him a small smile and nod.

The two legged mare had since been returned to her village, but the creamy colored horse had remained on the beach for the most part unmoving, with him. She flicked her tail lazily, "I know you said I could go, but I didn't think it wise to leave someone who is hurt to their own devices. If something had happened, I would not have forgiven myself."

Vudeux nodded a bit and managed to walk up the sand a little ways. He was still sore, but he could more easily get around. He knew deep down that he could eat, but his stomch squirmed at the very thought of food. Water perhaps would due, but not from the sea. From the air he would have easily found the streams, but his vantage point from the ground was drasticly differnt.

His tail lighty flicked in agitation with himself, he felt helpless and weak. He turned to the mare and nodded to her. "Thank you...would you like to come with me to the stream?" he asked her, rather than ask here where one was...she'd already helped him enough.

She chuckled, "Certainly, but you're going the wrong way..." She let her mirth show, but it wasn''t completely unkind.

"This way..." She pushed herself up from the sand and shook herself out, walking slowly twards a small inlet that would lead them eventually to the fresh water that supplied it. She looked over her shoulder to make sure he was following her. She felt a little awkwards, but in a good way. At least he didnt chatter on terribly, and she really didn't mind the day watching him. It was at least more exciting than standing around a feild all day wondering what exactly to do.

Vudeux inwardly cursed himself, his clever plot to seem quite less helpless had failed. He hung his head as he walked behind him, slow and lumbering.
It would figure that he had chosen the wrong way, where it not for the mare he would be out here wandering helplessly in search of water...then again if it wasnt for the mare he wouldnt have had a race. But he couldnt blame thi accident on her. As hard and cold as he may be, living on his own...he couldnt not blame her...now if she had left him alone to die in that god forsaken hole, then he could have cursed her name into eterinity...but she hadnt.

His tail flicked against the sand on his legs, brushing some of it off as he walked. His side was sticky and incrused with dried blood, sweat and sand. This was a stallion who was looking very sorry indeed. His pride and ego dashed upon the waves that caressed his hooves as he ran.

He didnt know what to say to the mare or if he should let the subject die. She had helped him, he had thanked her...what more was there? He rolled his eyes, social situations where not his forte.

K'jatu turned to watch him curiously. For once, the silence almost made her want to fill the space, but she efrained from speaking with better judgemnt. He was probably just tired with his past ordeal, and she was used to the quiet, just not used to people being quiet whan they were aound her.

She simply led him twards the stream, with the obvious statement, "Here it is as soon as the stream was visable. The sounds of the ocean in the distance and the small sounds of the stream were rhythmica and she parted from him by a few paces to dip her muzzle into the water, drinking slowly, although she was greedily thirsty. No use giving herself a stomach ache by drinking to much too quickly

The dark stallion nodded to her, enterinally gratefull for her acts of kindness during his darkest hour. His hooves stepped into the shallows of the stream, sending little ripples out into the water only to be washed away by the current.

Slowly he moved his head, the dull ache of his wing a constant reminder to take things easy. His nuzzled touched the cold water, and he nearly gasped. So cold it was that it sent a shiver down his spine, a shiver that turned into a sparp pain as it hit his wing. A sotf "Unf" escaped him, a sound of unexpected pain. He sighed and closed his eyes...this was all going to take some getting used to.

The mare sighed deeply and finally spoke up, "You know..." She glanced sidelong at the stallion and flicked her ears forward inquisitively as he drank and made the sound of displeasure, She frowned and let the sentance drop off and stared. So much for polite behavior.

((XD))

Vudeux barely heard her, and finally broke from drinking his fill. Moving away from the stream he settled himself against the rough bark of a tree, leaning against it for support. "what was that?" he asked looking over at her.
