-For the newcomers...or the currently lost-

Chapter 1: Destiny of the Bonded

Current Location: Zephyr

Current Characters: Seix
Sora Shintara

PostPosted: Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:38 pm

Time: Midnight

Location: Magus Academa, Zephyr

Far below, a sweet, haunting melody echoed in the empty moonlit streets. The song came from the third story of Magus Academa, one of the balconies facing the East. The pitch rose telling a sad tale of Luna, crying as she watched the state of the world she watched in the wan hours falling ever downward with the influence of the Dark Chi.

Beside him, balanced on the railing of the balcony, A young woman of Seafoam hair sat, her eyes closed, shedding a few tears listening to the sad tale. Shezka opened them, eyes the color of the ocean and just as deep, as the song ended, questioning just why he played such a mournful tune.

Seix, the weaver of the song, looked back at her. His eyes, the color of steel, were just as deep as hers, or very close. One of the after effects of being Bonded, he suspected. Eyes that appeared to see far more than the surface, that seemed to look into another's very soul. A frame of Midnight hair only made them all the more intimidating.

-"Because she is sad."- He said, not in actual words, but in a pattern of colors between their minds.-"Can you not feel it? Luna's ties are strong with our Alignment Shezka."-

-"I know..."- Her mind colors reflected the DeepBlue of the ocean.

Sora was wandering through the corridors of the Magus Acadamy, a small silver dragon perched on his shoulder, next to his scarf.
"You'r lost again, arn't you?"
Sora could tell his friend's thoughts were slightly agitated.
"I am not...... I'm just trying to find out where everything is. This place is huge......" Sora was currently wandering the halls of the third floor, as he had already seached the bottom to flights from top to bottom.

"Well, I guess so long as you don't get so lost we have to jump out a window and wander back in through the main enterance again, I'm fine...."
Sora didn't return the comment. The other day he had gotten so lost on the second floor he had to jump out a window and hike all the way around the large estate just to get back to the enterance and know where he was. It was around this time Sora started picking up on some music, which seemed sad. As soon as he tried to locate the source, it stopped. Sora quickly stopped trying to find the source of the sound and just conitinued down the hall.

Their mental conversation of colors continued well into the waning hours of the night, mainly because of Seix's inability to retire for the night. He'd gone on less sleep just fine, but he figured it would be nice to just relax for one night.

-"...You should get some sleep."- Said Shezka, a rather uncanny echo of his unsent thoughts.

Saix responded in voice this time, gently, in a range between Alto and Tenor. "I know. I can't however." He stood, offering his hand to his Bonded, still balanced on the balcony railing. She took it with a slight smile, floating (Quite literally) to the ground.

It was as if she read his mind, probably did, nodding at a suggesstion for a late night snack. Although he'd only been in Zephyr for a Sennight (That'd be a week) Saix knew of a decent place not too far from the Academa. After getting dressed one of the loner robes of the Academa, his was colored blue with a Blue and Silver Sash, he placed on his Geta sandals and stepped into the hall. His sandals made too much noise for his comfort, but the sheer amount of magic in this place made him more uncomfortable in this place, the hair on the back of his neck was almost always on end.

Sora continued his walk down the hall, still arguing with Slider. (Which of course was just what Sora called him, as he couldn't ever manage to pronounce his real name.)
"Your hoplessly lost again...."

"I am not...... Well, maybe just a little..."

"You do remember that our room's on the ground floor, right?

"Ya I know......" He let out a sigh here(Which he imagined would have looked weaird if Slider hadn't been on his shoulder.) "i guess we should get back down to our room, huh?"

"Now I never said anything about that..... After all, when else can you find the training grounds mostly, if not compleatly, deserted?

Sora smiled. "Heh, typical..... although I guess I can't complain, It's too early to go to sleep....." Sora adjusted his scarf, then turned down a stairway and started making his way to the training grounds.

Saix, as well as Shezka, whom changed into her Ocean Blue Drae form while they were searching for the main hall, had to get well away from the grounds until the unease of so much magic left and they were able to settle down somewhat. The diner they sought was still too close to the Academa for their tastes, but Seix figured he can't get everything his way. Hardly ever works that way, he figured.

He took a seat by one of the windows, not that he really noticed. A laminated, leather-bound menu held most, if not all, of his attention.

"Third time this week hun?"

The motherly voice of the waitress broke him out of his trancish state. "Same as last time, please."

"Sure thing." The waitress, a sweet person, really, very sweet. But he made a big mistake, looking up at her eyes the first time he stepped in he diner, saw something he really wished he didn't. They were soulless.

She'd been Bonded, some time ago, he thought. Someone had broken that Bond, forcibly.

Sora eventually found his ways to the training grounds, and Slider changed into his Morta form, jumping off of Sora's shoulder before he did so of course.

"Lets try something a little more advanced this time. Try seeing if you can move the energy from one particle of air to another."

Sora nodded, then pulled a pair of gloves out of his pocket ant put them on. They made his hands seem increadibly loarger than they really were. He turned his palms up, closed his eyes, and begain to conentraite. At first nothing seemed to happen, but then small droplets of water begain to appear on his left glove as the air around it grew colder. At the same time, the air around his right hand begain to grow very warm. Soon, what appeared to be a faint globe of light apeared in his right hand, pulsing softly. "That's as far as I can get it, the air in my left hand will turn solid and i won't be able to control it anymore if I go further."

"That's ok, can't expect you to get something compleatly that quickly. Just be careful how hot you heat an area, if it gets too hot it'll turn to plasma and blow up in your face. Very painful. Anyways, see if you can move it around."

Sora nodded. "Ok." He slowly turned his palm out to face away from him, and tried to move the glowing orb around. He was able to move it slowly, but as soon as he tried to speed it up more, he lost control of it and it fell apart, balancing back out with the lump of cold air in his other hand. Sora swore. "Ya I know, I'll try again....."

No more than ten minutes pass before the motherly woman returns. A medium-well hamburger and a healthy sized mound of fries for Seix, and a smaller platter of chunked steak, raw, for Shezka. One of the other reasons he liked this diner, they never forgot about his Bondmate.

Watching her as he dug in to his own food, he laughed. -"Reminds me of a River Crocodile..."- He thought.

Shezka turned to glare at him, insulted at his remark. Didn't he guard that thought? Must not have. After a dragonic equivalant of a shrug, she returned to finishing her food.

Seix finished his food not long after, feeling a familliar weight, of sorts, back on his shoulder.

-"Still remind me of a crocodile..."- He made sure to guard that thought. Shezka snorted and bit his earlobe.

Sora fell on the ground, his arms slightly burned. He turned to Slider, gasping slightly from the effort from his training. "Can't.....We try......Some close.....range?"

"Well..... I guess so.... At least you can this new ability that way.... Even if it would be more effective at long ranges....."

Sora smiled. While it was true Sora, like all mages, couldn't use his chi with weapons, he could still fight open-handed. Effectivly, too. Sora concentrated, and before long the air begain to change tempuratures the way they had before, one frigidly cold, one blazing hot. This time, however, he changed the air around his hands, leaving a thing layer unchanged as to not harm his hands, even though he still had the gloves on. Eventually he found a punching bag, and begain to beat on it, observing the effects the air had on it. He could tell it wouldn't be long before it would be worn out and needed to be replaced.

A full stomach, and a sore earlobe later, Seix set three gold coins atop the table, hoping to leave before he saw the waitress again. Just another thing about this city that made him uncomfortable. Maybe it was just being in a city making him nervous. Raised out in the middle of nowhere, that could do it. -"Really wish this High mage would tell me what I'm here for so I can get out of this damn city."- He thought.

A pattern of reds and other deep colors was sent to Shezka. The pattern she sent back was of softer hues. Reassurance, with a hint of scolding.
-"Told you. You wouldn't be so jumpy and nervous if you got more sleep."-

"...Yes mother." He replied aloud, complete with a roll of his eyes. He figured he wasn't going to get an inkling of sleep in the Academa, so he crashed in a nearby inn.

Sora stopped training, sweat pouring down his head. he was gasping between words. "I.......Think.........I'm........Done........."

"You DO look a little worn out......"

"Well.... that's obvious....." Sora took off his gloves and put them in his pockets. "I'm going to get some Ice cream..... You want anything? Oh.. Well, I guess you can tell me when we get there, huh?" Sora started walking, and a few minutes later was at an ice-cream vendor. He just got a scoop of vinella, Slider hadn't wanted anything. Especially from an ice-cream stall. He found a bench and sat down while he ate it. He could feel his muscles tensing up already. "What are we going to do for the night? No way I'm gonna be able to walk all the way back to the acadamy...."

"Well, It's your fault. I personally don't care, we could sleep on the grass for all I care."

Sora laughed. "Well, I guess the grass it is!" He walked over to a nearby park, walking funny from tightened muscles, fell on the grass, and almost immediantly started snoring.
