VampireNekoChan It might just be my city, but all the people I've talked ot at the various highschools have that one overdone play. You know the one, every teacher loves it, students can ace any exam on it cause they know the answer. That play. And that play seems to change from class to class. Now generally it stays in the drama department, but not for our class at our school. No, for this graduating class (my class) our 'That Play' is taking over every aspect of school. That play is 'The Glass Menagerie'. A few years ago in english (or french, can't remember) we had to read and analyse a play out of this book of plays. I chose The Glass Menagerie cause a) look who wrote it zomg and b) I'd heard lots about it. So I read and analyse it. The next year what do we go see in our drama class but The Glass menagerie. Next, I have to act out a scene from The Glass Menagerie. And then nothing last year. So I thought I was free. Not to be had my darling dears. No, this year in english we start the Great Gatsby. Excitement. Then we stop after the first chapter and read/write an essay about the play 'The Matchmaker'. We finish that and I think we're going back to our novel. Nope, today our substitute told us we were reading and analysing another play. Low and behold it's the one and only, ever stalking me, The Glass Menagerie. Sorry for the rant but have you ever had that one play that just stalked you through school? Or anywhere else for that matter? Ya, we read the glass menagerie in theatre 1 its just an easy acting starter and stuff and its really simple to understand

There hasn't been one at my high school when i was there. But a couple of classes before us did Fiddler in Jr High and High school. And the Same with Into the Woods. Funny. Doing a show twice. EEP.
With my class, we would have to much bitching if we did the same thing over. As high school students we have alot of say in what we do.

Over done in my school? Nothing that I can think of... but we've only been putting on plays for the past ten years.
However, it seems to me that my school is somehow a trend setter. I mean... we did Grease, three months later- four other schoools put on a show of Grease! The next year, Once Upon A Mattress - two months later... three other schools within an hour of my school are also doing Once Upon A Mattress!
Aye-yae-yae!

Beauty and the Beast. It's freaking everywhere. When I was in it there were three other local theater companies also putting it on. Come on that's ridiculous!
In the name of one acts I'm so freaking tired of seeing Driver's Test. Okay look it sucks (in my opinion) so stop using it.

no if there has to be one really overly done show it's the musical GREASE. I bet almost every high school that does a musical uses it.

Two years ago, my high scool did 'Leader of the Pack,' the high school in a neighboring town did 'Leader of the Pack', and the junior high wanted to do 'Leader of the Pack'. They decided to do Grease instead............ xp

It's ridiculous that we do these things. I had a couple choices for monologues for this university i'm auditioning for. Can't do any of them cause they've started to be overdone.
Oh well, at least knowing that other people go through this is of some comfort to me.

[ Amputated Freckle ] Annie and Oliver are both reeeeeeeeeeeeeally overdone shows : P .:.Shocks is speaking.:..:.I totally agree as is "Little shop of Horrors" and "Grease"
most over done play HAS to be "Romeo and Juliet" rawr
damn you Will Shakespeare!!!
If I have to see another adaptation with that overly done bad impression of and english accent I shall very well go insane!.:. .:.Shocks has spoken.:.

ROMEO AND JULIET, GREASE are so!!!! overdone, why? there are other plays out there! Why not the importance of being earnest, it's in modern english, has no singing and dancing, and it'd funny! There's hardly a cast too, or set to create!

For some reason Seven brides for seven brothers is like the most popular play in my town. Some how it's shockingly good, I don't think it's that great. It was kinda boring to do.
