"Well, you're tall. And that means there's more of you to haul over this window!" Diacyn jumped backwards as Iamel rolled into the room, almost as giddy as his friend. "Yeah! Forget physics! We're too cool for physics!"

He spread his wings a little, looking back over his shoulder at them. "Really? You think so?" He smiled, spreading the feathers a bit wider. "Maybe... I think they're getting bigger. Maybe I'll get tall really soon!"

Taylor, not wanting to consider what would happen when Diacyn got taller, decided to solve the other problem she was facing. "Iamel, now that you're done scaring the crap out of us... will you put your shirt back on?"

"Eh, not offensive, exactly," Taylor muttered, scratching the back of her head as she tried to figure out what to say. "It's just... I'm not really used to seeing random guys without shirts in my room. It's kinda strange. Most boys your age keep their shirts on 'cause... uh... not that that's bad, just... eh..."
Her voice trailed off as she tried to change the topic. "Shoes? What happened to your shoes?"

"Over here!" Diacyn retrieved one shoe from next to the window, holding it between his fingers. "I dunno if you're offensive, but this shoe sure is!" His nose wrinkled as he flung the boot towards Iamel.

"Eeew, I don't wanna inhale your shoes or your feet." Diacyn gratefully let the shoes go, snickering at the woodpecker's story. "Yeah, the shoes would be too heavy. But you should probably keep your pants on or my Shinee won't be able to think straight." Straight-er. Taylor's train of thought had been thrown a few loops already.

"Sitting is good. She's got your shirt," he added, plucking it from Taylor's rather immobile fingers and handing it over. "We need to learn wing exercises," he mused happily. "Then we could fly up in the trees. And have a tree fight! Like in the movies!"

"You get a TREE house? That's awesome!" The owl practically levitated again. Sure, his species of bird made nests in the ground, but he still liked being up high every chance he could get. And Iamel's own house... "How tall is it gonna be? Can I come over? Are you going to make it shiny like your old room?"

He paused for thought for a minute. "Exercises? Probably like this...." He hopped back and forth from foot to foot, flapping his wings in rhythm, and managing to look very silly in the process. "But I think if you want to do it right you need disgustingly peppy music." According to what he'd seen on TV, anyway.

"Aqua? Isn't that water? I thought that was what Dax did." He frowned slightly at the thought Iamel's... odd... brother. "Though I think he's just disgusting. Not exactly peppy."


"So I'm silly. So what?" He shoved Iamel back, completely ignoring everything that had been said about sensitive growing bones. "I can help you build it! It's gonna be taaaaaaaal."

"Stupid Dax," Diacyn muttered again. "He sure is weird. He isn't like us now, is he?" She shuddered a little at the thought of a humanoid Dax- no, a tall teenager Dax! Eeeew.

"I AM stronger then you. I can beat you up even when you're tall 'cause you're all achey and stuff." So he hadn't completely forgotten. "Let me know when you start. I'll bring a nail gun!"

"You don't HAVE a nail gun," Taylor reminded him, but she didn't entirely trust that statement. This was the kid who managed to steal toxic chemicals for her Christmas present.

Yes, Diacyn was well aware of the "no killing Iamel's siblings, no matter how much you really, really want to" rule. Besides, some of Iamel's brothers and sisters BIT. Like the three-eyed black one and the furry thing.

"Tyv and Ade? That's cute," he voulnteered, but Taylor was the happier one.

"Really?" she said happily, feeling much better now that the suicide-jumping part of the day was over. "I've got to meet them too! I could teach her all kinds of science stuff. NOT the exploding death-inducing kind," she added, looking at both of the Birds. She'd had to hide her chemistry books from Diacyn once he learned about some of the possible reactions.

"And you're not Dax's," Diacyn added, suddenly seeming wise beyond his years. "You're not anybody's unless you want to be. Or unless they... uh, beat you up and tie you up in chains? 'Cause I don't think you have a choice then." He pondered that scenario for a minute. "Nope, not even then. Because then I'd get tall and kick them until they let you out." He stretched his arms, compairing them to Iamels' long, thin ones. Oh, he wanted to get bigger fast!

"Eh? Really? Hard to tell with a name like that." Taylor scratched her nose, shrugging in an embarrased way. "Yup. Genetics. That would explain the glasses for sure, maybe the geekiness... I just wonder if he'll inherit the love of piercings."

"Diacyn, you can't rescue anyone by yourself, okay? At least not while you're little," she added, realizing that Diacyn's ideas of "owning" were completely literal. "And no beating people up. I'm sick of you talking like that."

Diacyn punched his guardian playfully before looking back at Iamel. "You cook? Whatfor? Things are better frozen... but anyway, I don't want to make you late. Have fun packing, I guess. But wait!"

Quickly, he rooted in the mini-fridge for a moment before his fingers closed around a normal (mouse-free) popsicle, which he handed to Iamel. "There. Hope you like it!" He bounced a little bit as his friend stood to go. "When I see you next I'll be TALL, okay?"

"Nice to see you!" Taylor called, waving. "Say Hi to the babies, okay? And stop jumping out of windows until you learn some physics!"
