Starshine smiled at him and nuzzled against him, she knew she was safe from any harm with him beside her, but still those unseen eyes seemed to drill holes into her very core.
Finally she lifted her head and asked him. "Did you hear that?" with a tilt of her head, her ears swivvling backwards. Maybe she was just hearing things, perhaps the invasion of the pale faces still filled her with fear and left her on edge.

Kanati made a face and looked around.
"Umm noo I dont here anything? Why what did you hear?" Kanati could now tell she was abit on edge which then made his attention come back to reality.

"I dont know...just...snapping twings.. Maybe a growl. I suppose im just still nervous after the pale faces....Its probably nothing to worry about." she gave a nervous giggle, and shook her head.
Leaning in she pressed her muzzle against Kanati's neck, her voice a soft whisper as she spoke into his ear. "Besides, when I am with you...I'm completely safe." With that she lightly nibbled on his mane.

Kanati suddenly felt very proud that she felt safe with him. It was very true he would fight his heart out to say her from anything even if it cost him his life. "Well ignore whatever it is I shall handle it, you just enjoy breakfest and leave the worring to me, love." Kanati was not about to let this special day be ruined by some creature of fangs.

( XD I dunno, I was thinking some sort of preditor. )
Starshine smiled as she burried her face into his mane and against his warm neck. She sighed content and lightly nuzzled up against him. Bending down she took a bit of the sticky sweet honey comb into her mouth and offered it to him as he had done to her. Smiling as she looked at him, trying to ignore those distant eyes that she felt still burrowing within her soul.

Kanati smiled and took a bite very aware of his surroundings he now felt the eyes upon him as well. This was just great what preditor could have the nerve ruin Kanati's birthday. What ever it was Kanati was going to smash it if it took one more step towards them.
Kanati nibbled of the sweet honey comb while giving Starshine this ever so loving look.

The bushes rustled again and starshine turned her eyes away from Kanati. She furrowed her brows, her ears lightly flicking back and forth. "Tell me you heard that..." she said quietly.
The air around them was very still, as if the entire forest was scared to speak. The dead silence weighed heavily upon Starshine as she tried desperatly not to panic. The bushes rustled again and then there was a growl, a hungery mountain lion, foolish as it would seem had chosen the unicorns for its meal. Oer perhaps just wanted to take a bite out of them and chase them away from the assortment of things that where lain upon the ground.
Starshine gave a shrill whinny of surprise and skiddishly jumped away. unfortunatly she was too slow and the paws of the large cat gripped tightly onto her left flank. Blood dripped down her pure white fur as she hastly bucked trying to get the beast off of her.

Kanati turned his head quickly in the direction of the sound before he could say or do anything the large cat was already leaping out towards Starshine. Kanati had tried to jump in the way but he had been to slow.
Kanati roared a whinny in anger upset with himself for letting the large beast getting it claws on Starshine. He reared with hooves flying with intention to smack the creature down.

Kanati's weight knocked the beast from her back sending it sprawling onto the dirt. Though wounded Starshine was enraged. With a vicious whinny she charged at the cat stomping at it and sending dirt spraying from her missed blows. Her golden hooves used as weapons as she bore her anger on the cat. Her flank was bleeding badly but she couldnt feel the pain.
"Kanati?" she looked around for him, moving away from the scared beast for a moment, the cat growling furiously from the ground near her hooves.

Kanati ran up along side of Starshine and nudged her back.
If the cat got up again he was going to be in between it and Starshine.
Kanati growled at the beast and stomped his hooves ever close to the thing hoping it would run if it could.

Starshine steped back letting Kanati take the lead, her back was begging to sting now and she couldnt reach the cuts with her horn very well. She turned her attention back to the beast with a very loud snort of anger.
The large cat hissed, drawing its ears back against his head. Its eyes narrowed as it looked up at the unicorns, it had chosen a meal to large and dangerous for its taste, but neither could it back down now. Rolling over onto its stomach it leaned forward and took a swipe at kanati's muzzle, hissing and growling all the while.

The cat's swipe hit its and Kanati snorted as blood dropped into his nostrals. That was enough he had given the beast a chance to run and it had lost its chance with that Kanati trampled at the beast and lunged his horn at the big cat. He couldnt beleave this had happened how dare this creature touch Starshine how dare it ruin this special day. Kanati wasnt the type to want to kill but at this point he was willing to do it to this cat.

The large cat hissed and then a whimper as the horn hit its mark. The whimper lead to silence as the cat gave its last breath before laying limp on the ground. Starshine crept to Kanati's side, scarely believening this all had happened. He was bleeding, and right now that was her only consern. She dipped her horn to lightly touch his muzzle. Her golden horn became ruby with blood as she closed her eyes, the warm healing rays that where the legend of their hertiage flowing from her and to him. Her flank still hurt, her pure white fur stained with crimson, but Kanati was her first concern and what mattered most to her. "Are you alright?" she asked him at length, drawing her horn away.

Kanati frowned looking at the body of the cat. He hated that he had killed it, but what else could he have done? He stood there in a daze for a moment as the cat's blood dripped down his horn. It wasnt till Starshine healed him did he remember what had happened.
"Im fine." he said turning to wash the cat's blood off his horn in the ocean's water before returning to Starshine's side and placed his horn gently on her flank's wound and took upon the same process in hopes that her wound would heal. The one that she shouldnt have had, he had let his gaurd down and was upset with himself.
"Starshine Im so sorry, I shouldnt have let my gaurd down. Let's go somewhere else, ok?"

Starshine closed her eyes as he placed his horn on her flank. The healing magic made her body feel warm, and a light tingling ran through her leg. She turned around to face him, her limb itching as the wound began to stick itself closed. "Its not your fault." she said to him, her voice full of compassion and care. "We both let our guards down...the cat must have been very hungery to try and attack us like that." she said softly, casting a sad look of pity at the poor beast.
