There is a warning on jestiferjames now, so it is being dealt with. I shouldnt see any more quoting of his post from page one or any reference to it at all from here on out in this thread. If I do, your post will be deleted. Clear? Good.

so... uh... how bout we lock and forget this topic, eh? We'll put it in the rumor's and misconceptions topic, if it's not already there, kay? It's pretty much going no where now that everyone's agreed, and the rascism isn't that appealing. So I'll let this sun-dry in the forum for a bit before I lock it, just incase any mods should want to leave this open.
*Holds keyblade steadily and awaits for locking ceremony*

okay ^_^good enough!
*puts away keyblade*
It's the worse when people spell her name wrong. It's straight forward that it's Aeris, seeing as her name was mentioned many-a-times, unless you changed her name.
There was a topic before which explained Aeris' name in finer details, but that was a while ago. Kinda off topic, but still releavant!

I'm fairly certain it was originally Aeris, but it was altered due to translation errors. I live in Japan, you know....I understand what they're talking about. I'll let some other fans figure that one out....I am 100% positive it's Aeris, though.

Yo, you can delete my post if you want but where do you people get off calling me a racist. everything i said was half joking for one thing. I was simply pointing out that japanese is a different language and therefore things are indeed pronounced differently there than here, so why sould we have to change something over here that has been working for years just because someone decided it was closer to a language most of us don't speak. i find it hard to believe anyone could take a statement like "if you say aeries your a commie" seriously. if i offended anyone i am truly sorry and i cry your pardon, but if anyone thinks i actually believe its un-american to pronounce something the way you want then i'm sorry but you are a moron. i was simply using a faux flag waving redneck approach to the topic as a light hearted way to express that i feel strongly about something. i was born in 1989 and just about everything i like is made by asians. i would have to be at least 40 years old to be the mongering half crazed vietnam vet you all make me out to be. lighten up people.

Good apology. You have to watch what you say around here, as, unless youre well known in the guild, anything and everything you say can and probably will be taken in a literal sense. And on topic, for the record, it was originally spelled Aerith, but there was a mistranslation. This mistranslation lead to us in America and elsewhere in the world to have Aeris instead of Aerith. The mistranslations also lead to lines such as, "This guy are sick," among other popular screwups within the game itself.

And dude above Shuyin, just look. Never joke around with two things, weapons, and racism. Man, look, anything said like that can be cosidered racism. Though you think it is a joke, there are and have been people that say that and mean it. I'm just lucky that the school I go to has a large Asian population, so I don't see it as much. BUT, there are people out there that will make fun of anything about the Asian culture to make themselves feel big, or simply because they hate them for some reason. Like, my teacher, a Filipino as well, was called "Rice Paddie," because Asians eat rice. He was also called a c***k, a racist term for Chinese people, because he was Asian and playing 'War' with some white kids in his neighborhood. And I was made fun of like hell because I had an accent, people called me the stupid asian kid and sh*t for years until I lost it. *sigh* Sucks, you know? Because they have called me a c***k, a Chino, and a Communist p***k for my accent, and many other things I wouldn't say here... No matter how small it may seem, racism can hurt, Bra. Don't even joke like that, because some people can take it pretty hard like myself and many others of the guild. It's all I gotta say.... Jhay-R

Well my own personal feeling is that I say it Aeris and believe it to be so, although her name can be Aerith to some, but I go by her name that is in the instruction manual that comes with the game which is Aeris, so thus I call her Aeris. And yes trust me it says Aeris in the book, lol, not sure if anyone would question that or not lol =)
