Alright so I am a hardcore fan, and, I really don't see why Final Fantasy VII appeals so greatly. I mean, yes, it is a good game. But there are better ones. It is hard to choose out of such a wide array of great games, but I think FFX is much better, even if the voice actors aren't as good as you would have hoped. The storyline is magnificent, and the graphics are amazing. I don't understand people who say it is just a pretty and cute game, that they didn't care about gameplay.

Also about FFX-2, what does everyone have against it? I thought the battle system was fun and the plot nice too, what is so bad about it? And what is so good about Final Fantasy VII?

FFVII appeals to people (Fans of the sereis or not) because of so many different things. The story (if you hate it, fare enough), the characters, even the materia system which I was a big fan of and still am. Their are other reasons but I imagine some of them might be private reasons for others so I can't say.

I don't think any other game has had this many fanboys/girls. You ask almost anyone who has played FFVII who their favorite character is and about 60% of them will say either Vincent, Sephiroth, Aeris, Cloud or Reno. These characters are almost everywhere. People dedicate online profiles to them. They cosplay as them every chance they get. They try very hard to mention them everywhere they go. I'd say that was some serious fanboy/girlness right there.

FFX-2 had a brilliant battle system. I liked the fact that your characters weren't just lined up in some straight line like the other FF games. The battles looked and felt more intense with this new layout.

The storyline on the other hand... Well, I felt that it kind of lacked to get my attention. Ok, replace kind of with very much actually. I couldn't stand the whole Charlies Angels feel to it. That's what really drove me nuts. Also the fact that you couldn't change party members. Sure they had dress spheres but deep down they were still the same person and I found it hard to ignore that. So other then the story and the characters it was a nice game.

FFX. Again good game, bad characters. I'm sorry but I would like nothing more then to see Tidus's and Brothers heads on pikes.

FFX all the way. The battle system for X-2 was ok, but i favor the old callis battle system.

Okay....I have to say that I really didn't find the storyline to VII all that gripping or surprising either. Actually it kept losing my interest and I would go off to another game for a few days before i would even think about playing it again. So I can say i am not the biggest fan of FFVII....

....But it was a much better storyline then FFX-2. Honestly the only part of that game I enjoyed was the song, 1000 Words. And that just because it is a good song.

FFVIII's storyline kept my attention right until ...well...almo0st the end when it really slowed down. So at least when it bored me I really didn't have far to go after that.

Personally My favorite in terms of story is FFVI. I have always just loved the storyline of this. Really to me it seems more like all the character really have their own story and they all come together. But maybe thats just me.

Now off that topic. Stor Ocean: till the ends of time. Great game. I passed it at least a year and a half ago...and just went out and bought myself a copy yesterday.(First chance I have had to buy it).

And the Xeno games. Yesa also great, the first caught my attention so much i was through it before I even noticed I was at the end. The second one though threw me for a complete loop. After playing the first I started right in on the second...well...it depressed me that changed the characters voices so much and their appearance(Momo looks like she aged 6 years in maybe a week). And a completely revamped battle system. I still haven't been able to get very far in it because of these chances....just waiting for the memories of the first to dull so I don't compare lol.

there is a LOT to X-2 that people don't understand. A lot of people are taking it for face value and it kinda bothers me. It was more than just a fashion show . . . it was all about Yuna becaoming a stronger person than she was and trying to find out how to get along without other people there all the time. She was learning to be independant in this game and she was also trying to show people that she isn't a tool and that she can't be used by other people anymore. THAT'S what X-2 is all about.

I thought Yuna was a very strong person all along... As for not being used and all, I think she's already she already showed that when you fought Yunalesca. She did lean on other people a lot, I guess, but that doesn't have anything to do with a lot of people's problems with X-2, and if showing that she could be independent was Squenix's main intention, I think they failed anyway. confused

Indeed... and I'd just like to add that if Yuna was what FFX-2 was all about... it probably would've been much worse. At least they added more than just a character development to the story, even if it was a lameass adventure. call me pessimistic but I really hated that game

Final Fantasy doesnt have the best graphics compared to X but the games gives me more control in my characters to wherever they go and whenever i can go and it tells alot of its history of each character.

2nd, the Last BOss Sephirothm I cant say it in words, but his giving me this DOOM feeling rather than Jecht/Sin.

3rd, FFX has a whole lot more movie than control of the game. which i didnt like much.

4th, the story is too short for me.

AGAIN! this is my opinion. and id like to argue in a civilized way. OK?

Hm... I actually agree with your second point. I'd never connected it before, but now that I think about it, when I was fighting Vegnagun, there was that 'Ohmigosh I can't lose' feeling, but Jecht just didn't have that.

Your other points I don't agree with, but they make sense, at least.

I enjoyed FFVII a lot, but one thing I didn't like about it was that I was confused about 80% of the time. Still am as a matter of fact.
FFX was an absolutely superb game in my opinion, as is FFX-2. I enjoyed the stories and the voices really didn't bother that much... except for Tidus' once in a while.

What you said about FF7 I would have agreed with you on greatly when I first played it years ago. The graphics are weak but the story line and all of the side quests (fighting the ultimate weapons) really turned my outlook on it around. As far as FFX-2, I also really liked the battle system and the overall point and story of the game but it just seemed like a weak continuation of FF10 because it was an awesome game. When you compare the two Id have to say I like FF7 more because of the story line, more characters to play with, the music, and the funner side quests. Its not like FFx-2 is a horrible game it just has alot of downsides that alot of FF fans do not like at all.....and one Im sure most guys dont like how girly it is because even I dont like that part about it lol cheese_whine

FFVII... I think part of it's appeal comes from those who played it at the time. It is an amazing game, but now it's old and the graphics and such are obsolete. I played it a couple years ago, and while I love it, I was not as hooked as, say, FFXII. If I had to guess, I think some of it is people like my friends who played it when it came out and were impressed for the time.

It is still a game with a wonderful story and beautiful music, though.

As for FFX-2... Well, it's not a bad game, but, it's not very, er, FFish. It's also too drastic a change from FFX, and I personally have issues with its, well, 'eye-candy'...

And just because this has been kinda casually mentioned in here...

God, I love StarOcean... whee Probably one of my favorite games of all time...
