I dunno....the only talking animal books that I really like are the Warriors Series. I don't really know what it is about them, but I just find it fascinating.
Animal Farm was okay, I've never seen, nor do I have any intention of seeing the movie.
I've also been interested in Watership Down though....

Jackie-senpai I've also been interested in Watership Down though.... That movie gave me nightmares, so the likely hood of me reading that book are very small.

I will not read J.R.R Tolkein's LoTR trilogy. I've read about 1/3 of the first book, and was like "ok, not gonna read anymore."
Which is odd, for someone who absolutely loves fantasy novels.....
Oh, well.

I refuse to read all the gross romance novels and Slave Dancer. We had to read Slave Dancer in eighth grade and I hated it for some reason.

junkpile The Bible, The Book of Mormon.....I had them crammed down my throat from birth till I was 18. That, or anything from Gene Roddenbery I SMITE YOU!!! GENE RODENBERRY IS GOD!!! Sorry. My inner trekkie escaped. She was quickly rechained. I will read anything if: A) It has words that appeal to my mature state of mind B) Is funny C) if the back sounds interesting I love romance novels, too. The ones I like are Siloette (I totally spelled that wrong) Bombshell books, which are about women in places the are generally man dominated. VERY good reads. You just flip past the sex scenes.

There are several YA/teen books I refuse to read simply because there is no time to read them. I mean, Artemis Fowl, A Series of Unfortunate Events (which I dislike greatly anyway), the Uglies, and what not. There are so many books that are even better written for adults, and I don't want to waste my time reading YA ones when I could be reading something better.
I also refuse to read those preppy books. I mean, where it fits the stereotype of preps, or "popular" people, simply because I never fitted in that norm. I mean, nothing against actual "preps" or whatever, but I just don't want to read about those kinds of characters.
I'd rather not read romance either. I mean, romance that is part of the story, for instance, Clay and Elena's relationship in Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series. I don't mind reading about them or reading those kinds of scenes if its part of the story.
However, full out corny romance, I'm not interested in. Unfortunately, I've wasted a lot of time reading what I didn't know was actually romance. For instance, the Smoke Thief by Shana Abe. I suppose it was okay, but seriously, I'd rather read many other things that are millions times better.

I'll read almost anything put infront of me. Well, I'll read the first few chapters and stop reading it if it isn't interesting. I don't like smutty romances, though. Or most historical fiction. Fantasy and Sci-fi are by far my favorites and I hardly touch nonfiction books, they just don't interest me any.

Actually, some teen books are just as well written as or sometimes even better than books for adults. I hesistate on reading adult books as they tend to be crude and dirty. I highly recommend reading Artemis Fowl. I refuse to read A Series of Unfortunate Events with every fiber of my being.

I will not read anything that won't appeal to me. I am a very picky reader, yet those books I do choose to read have a big impact on my life.

That sounds about like me. I mean, I'm a fantasy freak, but fell in love with Ender's Game. To tell you the truth though, I don't think I could ever bring myself to read a romance novel, or a truly boring book. I'm crazy about the study of religion and philosophy, though, and am quite the history buff. Still, I want to write fantasy, the genre to which I love dearest and hold nearest my heart. -LD P.S. If you are going to use Latin in your signature, at least make sure that it is legitimate. Seriously gonk

Normally I am highly picky, and I always read the back of the books to check the summaries. I also flip three quarters through the book and read a random page or two to see if the writing is any good. I also stay away from anything in the teen fantasy section, teen books such as harry potter are too far below my level or reading that they just put me to sleep. (I don't mean any offense to harry fans!!) The only time I go lax is when I do not have time to browse for a good book, and am desperate to read something - anything! Which is what made me read the Inheritance Series, which was a good pass time. 3nodding

A book I refused to read? The Harry Potter books, well for a while anyway, got really bored one summer and picked it up, it was pretty good actually.
I don't like the whole talking animal thing.
And another thing I really hate, is the whole turning books into mangas, like with Shakespeare, people are just getting lazy.
Well besides that I read anything thats interesting, im mostly into Fantasy though. Oh and one more thing, don't really like the historical fiction either, prefer the actual history.... I like history.
