In the darkness, a single shape appears through the light. It was long and sinuey, its fur colored a dark grey. Its green eyes glowed in the light as it's long arms reached out and tapped the controls, slowly bringing the whole compound to life, releasing his brethren from their stasis chamber.
~~~
Rasa turned from the landing area, his ship parked off tot eh side with a whole slew of much smaller pelicans standing below and beside it.
"Shall we go exploring on our own?" He asked of his second.
"Sure. Why not?"
So they both left from the scene of business to search out some of the important sites, such as the coms room, the power room for the colony as well as the living quarters for whomever wanted to stay there.
Howie desided to would keep watch. Exploring was fun, but if no body was there to watch the ships and they had to leave in a hurry for some reasona nd someone or something had blown up the ships then the mission would be a faliure.
((I'm guessing that we landed, am I right?)) Jack Alexandre sliped off his pelican, walking off into the night, he didn't try to be stealthy, he just was. It helped being small and light. He had an old MA5B assult rifle on his back as he crept out onto the landing area. He naturaly stuck to the shadows, even in the hallways he seemed to be sneaking around in the darkest places - it was his nature. He looked around scanning for any trouble as the other platoons disembarked.
(( Since you're off to such a roaring start, I might as well join in and coordinate UNSC activities.. ))
The SPARTAN slowly climbed out of his assigned Pelican. He was busy checking and re-checking his equipment to ensure everything was in working order, so he was last to leave. Those who wouldn't be leaving such as the pilot and crew, simply shut down most of their systems, kept open a secure COM channel, and did a brief check to make sure everyone and everything made it down in one piece. His temperature gauge indicated it wasn't exactly comfortable out here. Thanks to the regulated temperature within his suit, however, he didn't really mind. He turned to watch as the drop parties from other Pelicans carried crates of supplies off of the troop transports. He was slightly curious as to why they'd need much of anything on this supposedly deserted planet, but didn't question orders.
He observed most Marines gathering up into their assigned squads and spreading out, the bulk of their forces being sent down to hold this landing zone for the rest of us. When you take those Marines out of the overall list of soldiers on this planet, you're left with ten or so who're actually going to investigate through the incomplete colony. He'd read the brief report on this place as they flew in, not really thinking much of the planet itself, or the signal that seemed to be eminating from this structure. It was most likely just faulty equipment that had shorted out or malfunctioned. Either way, he had a job to do.
The Pelicans had landed in a close cluster formation, not wanting to spread out their makeshift 'camp' too much. The SPARTAN shifted his attention elsewhere as a Marine wearing full black camo with his face and head covered by the usual helmet an ODST would be issued casually walked up to him, his BR55 in hand. The Marine cocked his head to the side, as he seemed to have a habit of doing, and eyed the SPARTAN. He wasn't sure why he did this, since they'd been in several different missions together, and the man should have gotten used to the sight of a fully-armored, augmented soldier. Either way, he simply issued a half salute and spoke into his helmet's installed COM system. "The investigation team's already assembled, Sir, so let's get this crap over with." He smiled slightly at his words, sympathizing slightly over how boring this mission appeared to be.
As he nodded slightly, glancing down at his BR55 casually, as if to check to see it was still there, before looking over and seeing the team he spoke of. Some of the other ODST's he'd worked with on Theta Halo were among the lucky few who got to go through this dust-filled hell. He had four ODST's total, with six other regular Marines. Most of his soldiers had BR55's, but a select few decided to go with the Shotgun. He didn't despise the weapon, but he prefered precision. As he and his team headed off and into the actually colony itself, he glanced over his shoulder at their group of Pelicans and single Pirate Cruiser. Over thirty Marines were unpacking crates of ammo and food, while others set up AP turrets along their landing zone to establish some form of perimeter. This perparation made him slightly nervous, which was a new feeling to him. He was concerned for his team's safety now, no longer thinking this was just some random abandoned and failed colony. Did the higher-ups know something he didn't? He continued to try and deliberate over how he should handle this mission as he and his team entered this strange compound.
Howie stood atop a pelican scanning the flat land. It was weird to have so many weapons along. It was deserted as far as he had been told. Why did they need all the big guns? It was just a little weird. In the breifing he had only heard that there had been several attemps to colonize the planet, but that was it. He looked down as the ODST's started their mission. He had always wanted to be a ODST, but had never actully tried to become one.
Mendez donned his helmet, looking at his HUD and checking the roster. They only had a few men left in each group, they were going to be mixed with marines. As the groups split up, Mendez jogged off to where his group stood waiting. "Hey guys, miss me?" they wouldn't have missed him, they saw him ten minutes beforehand. "Nah, actually we were goin' to ask someone where the liquor store is in this colony." The group laughed and started to walk off towards the colony. After Theta Halo, the group had become even more tight knit, after losing so many men. The man beside Mendez bumped him with his elbow. "Hey Gunny, when we gettin' to shoot somethin'?" Mendez shrugged and just pointed ahead. When we get there and it starts shootin' at you."
((It's the way my guy acts all the time. He always like to 'not be there' so to say)) Jack noted a SPARTAN, "cool" he said to himself as he moved towards the team that was assembling. "Sir!, pre mission to join crew! Sir!" he said almost appearing out of nowhere from behind the unit. He swung his MA5B assault rifle around to his front, smiling cheerfully. He was dressed in the usual cameo green of marines but it seemed to have a darker color to it, like someone had covered it in charcoal dust.
Lee Anderson jumped off his pelican and waited for it to drop the M12 warthog it was carrying. When it dropped he got into the drivers seat and waited for the other two marine assigned to his warthog, he was basically assigned to patrol the base camp. when the other two got in teh warthog he yelled to the two over the roar of the pelican "you guys ready for a ride? they never said we couldnt have a little fun on our patrol" the other two just smiled and the gunner Tom yelled back "Heck yes!!" and they were off
Furon got off his pelican and walked to the perimeter of the camp. He looked around at the dust bowl that surrounded them, and at the old colony in the distance. He noted how dull and insuspicious it looked and wondered if anything at all was still there anymore. "I bet that even the damned rats have died by now." he said to himself. He lifted his br55 to his chest and checked the cartridge to see that it was full. He pulled out a cloth and some oil and began to polish his weapon, which had already become dirty from the dusty environment. he paced back and forth as he polished his weapon and waited for something exiting to happen. His trigger finger began to itch.
((Good. Now. FOR THE REST OF YOU! It is the middle of the day. Noon. NOT NIGHT! The darkness is in another part of the world. I repeat, its NOON!))
Rasa heads down one hallway, slipping a small gadget from his pocket to slip over his ear and eye. Rose walked beside him holding a tiny PDA, so she could see what he saw.
"Nothing yet captain."
"I know this Rose."
