The girl watched her, fidgetting. "They've been there for a couple of days, gradually getting lighter. I dunno what's going on, but I feel fine!" She gestured with her hands for emphasis. "And I'm scared to ask them because then I might get dragged back to the labs..." She looked down, ashamed that she feared them so much.

"That's understandable... I wouldn't be keen on the idea, myself. But if you feel otherwise fine, that's probably a good sign. Sorry I'm not more help." Cass laid her head down on her body, the effort of staying upright beginning to tire her. "I've been reading about snakes for the last couple of weeks, not lizards." With the pictures covered. But still.

"That's okay." Amaya gave her a tiny smile before watching her rest again. "You could climb back up if you want. I was looking for a tree to bask in too - if you don't mind me joining."

No smile--her mouth was just not made for that anymore--but Cass's voice was warm. "Not at all. I'd like some company."
She turned back to the tree and climbed the trunk with little effort, spiralling around as she did so. She returned to her original branch, let her tail catch up with the rest of her, and settled herself, comfortably draped over the limb like a coil of rope.

The green iguana smiled - as much as her muzzle would allow. After Cassidy had made her way up and settled, she followed. Her huge claws dug into the bark, easily hoisting her up higher until she reached a branch a little higher and off to the side of the snake woman.
She lay down across it, tail drapping over the edge and limbs pulling back to rest on the branch. Her arms crossed under her snout and she rested it on top.
Mmmm, sun.

Cass watched Amaya climb up, part of her instinctively wary of sharing "her" tree with anything big enough to be a threat. But that was silly; it was Amaya. Iguanas didn't eat snakes, right? She had no idea. But still, just Amaya.
Strange, and scary, how this sort of thing changed the way you thought.
Also strange how Amaya still had vestiges of humanity in her build and manner. Was that normal, or was Cass's predicament usual? She wasn't really sure she wanted to know.
But there would be time for that. The sun was warm, and the weather seemed promising.
