Quote:
The Nameless One sat and admired his work for a while from the throne in the dark room. He was sure the child couldn't see him, possibly a good thing, he wanted time to reflect on what was sitting in front of him. A spawn from a medusa, could be such a deadly creature to have in the city. He had dealt with the monsters in his youth, it was hard to fight them with your eyes closed. But now...

He stood from his chair and gradually began towards the medusa Rosin, and reached out with a hand, snatching all the snakes that lay limp on the boy's head. There was a shock, a jolt and knowledge flooded a mind of one and many. Knowledge of where he was, who he was, who was holding him right now and life as he saw it.

" You maybe expiriencing shock right now,... this is understandable given the circumstances... but when I speak, I do not wish to repeat myself"

The Nameless One held tight to the snakes in his hand, their minds suddenly active and on instinct wanting to lash out at their captive. With but a though, they seemed to calm.

" You.. are very unique... and you have a quality about you that is... well.. annoying... allow me to demonstrate"

He let go of the snakes and made his way in front of Ladon, the name he had given him, and reached beneath his flowing cloak. But a moment passed when he pulled out from beneath it, a white rabbit and held it by the ears. The Nameless one then pointed the shaking creatures eyes to look at the boy in front of it and it immediately froze and turned stone grey. The Nameless One dropped the rabbit statue to the floor and it shattered into pieces.

" The eyes on your face... bring with them a terrible fate to the ones that gaze upon them. So unfortunately for you.. there will be a law only for you to obey.. and given your physical aspects, this should not hamper you in any way."

The Nameless one reached his hand into the darkness of the room, and later returned with a long black cloth. He stepped behind Ladon and began blindfolding the boy and tight enough it wouldn't slip.

" This law shall state, that you are never, to remove this blindfold unless I have told you to... It is in your best interest to obey this."

A light suddenly penetrated the room as a door opened, with a shiney black man shaped figure standing there.

" First, get him roomed and get him some food.... and Ladon.. Happy Birthday"

And with that, he disappeared into the darkness.

Darkness, it all began with the darkness, pressing in all around, intolerable, suffocating, darkness he could feel. He couldn’t think, thoughts as sluggish as treacle, running purely on instinct. He was alive and for that moment, that was all. But suddenly there was contact, contact and knowledge that flooded him like intolerable icy fire, ignorance burned away at it’s contact, leaving logic and forged thoughts behind it. He could think. He could hear the voice, that voice he could no more disobey than his own emotions. He would listen because the voice would not repeat.

His vision was messy for now, so many un-coordinated eyes, instincts and thoughts seemed to create a world of broken mirrors, each one reflecting the other. He listened intently however, nodding, his mind now alive with knowledge craved more. As the rabbit was produced, he reached out a pigment splotched hand a fraction, wanting to touch the beast’s soft white fur. But too fast he felt it, that moment when it’s gaze met his own bottomless eyes and he knew it was doomed. It made him hiss through his fangs at the sharp rush of adrenalin that lanced through his veins. He could only watch the rabbit freeze and shatter on the floor in surprise. He could not fully grasp guilt at the moment but nevertheless felt disappointed that the animal was now no longer fuzzy but instead shards of stone on the floor.

He looked down at the floor as he was given his law, one that he knew he would follow strictly, he did not wish any more things to petrify at his gaze. He held still obediently as the nameless one blindfolded his eyes, the multitude of reptilian ones he possessed taking over fully. He could only nod dumbly as the man vanished from his view. He would do as he was told. The darkness was no longer his place to be. As he followed the construct, moving in a serpentine slither, he tried out his first and only name quietly.

“La..Ladon.”

He tried to focus on this name, feeling the vowel sounds and learn it by heart, but inevitably his mind would wander. He couldn’t forget the broken rabbit.

Something was waiting for Ladon in his room, big glassy eyes tranfixed on the door in wait of his arrival. It had been here a while, told to wait here by the darkness that moved, to wait for the snake boy.

The fox toy lays still and quiet, for it is the king of deception and cunning. It only moves as the wind brushes along its fur.

Congratulations! you found a candy!

This toy is no ordinary toy, its alive, but never acts like it. When Ladon sleeps, the plushie is out wondering the city. And when he awakens, there's always a trinket, some candy, a toy, something the fox has pilfered and brought back for his new serpentine friend. You will never see him move, only when your back is turned may he be gone in a flash.

When Ladon got to the room (eventually, his coils quick to get the hang of slithering) he looked around himself, the many snakes that moved around his head providig his vision. He saw the world in a dizzying blur still, a combination of taste, heat and vision, multi-faceted thanks to the many eyes he looked out via. There was little to the area it seemed other than the typical funishings, but to Ladon, all this was new and facinating and he explored around while the construct moved off to fetch him some food and water.

He moved around the room, occaisionally reaching out to touch a surface here or even have one of his snakes give it a flick of the tongue there. It was all so new and wonderful. However, after a time, the boy froze, having spotted something small and furry nearby. Looking upon the plushie, he knew it was a fox, one of the masters of animal cunning, but that it was stuffed and by definition, inanimate. Nevertheless it didn't stop the feeling he got that the little thing was watching him. He wasn't afraid of the gaze, rather subtly amused.

Reaching down, he picked the little red fox up in a colour-patterned hand and took a closer look at him. He liked the little fox and immediately, in some childish way, classified the plushie as a comforting thing, a friend of sorts.

In a graceful movement, he coiled himself on the floor, nestled in the midst of his scales, the fox - which he had decided to name Rufus - cuddled close. Then he simply waited patiently to be brought some food and water.

Quite a while had gone by and Ladon was getting more and more adventurous, going out when he was allowed, to explore. All the while getting more and more adept at using his many eyes to see what he was doing. He had gone gradually from meek and submissive to asserting himself on the world around him. He was convinced he was special somehow and had to prove this to anyone who would listen, even the constructs who simply dismissed the boy's claims and went about their business.

He was restless though and wanted to do something more interesting, something that he'd never done before. He eyed the door and pondered.
