A faint tinge of pink flushed across the princess’s face over the compliments. It was perhaps the first time since Ashki that anyone had ever complimented her on anything- and she saved it away for another time where she could replay it. Kaanga was a creature who tried to live as simply as she could- but even she adored some sparse compliments that kept her from thinking too lowly of herself.
But to the next question, Kaanga tilted her head, and blinked in puzzlement. “Kaanga doesn't know- what are elas?” She’d never heard Daddy mention them before. Although she knew somehow that they were both talking about a group of lions. Past that...
“Did they tell you they could fix your head?”

"Nah, why would they do tha'? Mostly they tell meh tha' Ahm weird an' tha' Ah should jus' go amuze mahself." The little Firekin shrugged and put a paw on Kaanga's forehead. So she was a seer, Khepri had heard that word before, only once but she had heard it. But none the less, Kaaga was still cute being mostly white with that tinge of a blush.
"Ela' are a type a lion. Not sure where they are exactly. Jus' tha' Ah gotta find 'em." Khepri said after a moment, pulling her paw back and sighing sadly. "Supposedly they know wha' ta do abou' mah head."
Flicking her dark red tail, Khepri looked up at the little princess again faintly.
Isn't it pathetic?
Isn't she disgusting?
She's the princess, she'll crush you.
A deep sadness pooled in Khepri's stomach, of course she didn't think that way, of course she liked Kaanga. The voices were starting to get to her, maybe it was time to go and find the Ela' already, maybe now was the time to leave.

Kaanga lowered her eyes and nodded, considering it slowly. She wasn’t always the brightest of lions- but she did get the idea that running off and looking for something you didn’t know everything about might have been a dangerous venture. “You must be careful if you go looking for them– what if you don’t find them? Kaanga thinks it must be hard to find something you don’t know what it is.”
It brought her another pause as she thought. Yes- it was hard. But there was something about Khepri’s determination that seemed like she might find what it was she was after.

Casting a glance at the other female, she reached out with a fast wrist motion and put her paw right on the marking in the center of Kaanga's forehead. A soft smile spread over her muzzle. She was about to leave, but she already felt very warm towards this little princess. She was a sweety lioness, far too sweet for her surroundings.
"Ah promise. Ah know 'ow to take care of mahself, sweethart. Would ya like to come wit' meh?" Khepri asked. She didn't figure that Kaanga would, but it was worth a question. She had to admit that she had a soft spot for the other female and her speaking in the third person ways.

Kaanga frowned, and slowly shook her head. Perhaps somewhere in her there was a creature that wanted to leave- but just yet, she knew she could not. She felt too much for her homeland, even if it scared her. And she adored her brothers and sisters far too much. “I am afraid, if Kaanga were to leave, Kaanga’s daddy would not be so pleased.” She spoke lightly. “But I will not tell that you may leave! I hope you will find them. But you must be careful- you would be careful, right?” The small child squeaked, and flattened her red flanked ears.
Nervously she glanced around, as if talk of leaving was as taboo as the act itself. She had never heard of a firekin being killed for leaving- but surely, it wasn’t something they appreciated either. The night before she had been troubled by nightmares of a firekin who had babies with a rogue- the female and her cubs had been killed. It scared her to think that.

Leaning forward Khepri licked Kaanga's forehead the same way she did with every one of her family and headbutted her softly. It was a significant gesture to her family, but one that Kaanga probably wouldn't understand. Not that Khepri would even ask her to.
"It's okay sweetie. Ah undahstand why yo'd wanna stay 'ere wit yo'r family." Khepri said as she put her paw on Kaanga's forehead again. "Ah'll be careful, if yo' promise meh tha' yo'll be safe 'ere too. An' thank yo' for keepin mah leavin' a secret."
A nod worked it's way from Khepri's head as she finally made up her mind to leave. She would leave now, it was the perfect time.
"Ah hope we meet again one day, Kaanga. Yo're really a smart one." Smiling, she took her paw from the white princess' forehead and turned to walk off into the distance savannah at last.
What!?
Where are you going you twit?
"Home." She whispered out softly as she kept walking.
