political themes, that what a hippie is, unless you're refering to the stereotype of everyone being a drug assict and all they do is want to have "freedom sex"
and the beatles were by far better than grateful dead.

roguemeanies and the beatles were by far better than grateful dead. No. scream The Beatles only lasted ten years. Grateful Dead are still together, even after their frontman died. The Beatles were more well known, and more influential on music as a whole. But just because they were the most influential band ever, doesn't make them the greatest band ever.

phriedphishphan roguemeanies and the beatles were by far better than grateful dead. No. scream The Beatles only lasted ten years. Grateful Dead are still together, even after their frontman died. The Beatles were more well known, and more influential on music as a whole. But just because they were the most influential band ever, doesn't make them the greatest band ever. I totally agree. I would proudly chose the greatful dead over the beatles any day, and the made such a great contribution to the hippy movement as a whole. The dead Rock and the actually dead aka garcia shall live in our peaceful hearts as the awesomest dude ever.

Enlightened Ghost ninja I dont think I've hear the greatful dead... Theire so hard to find If you type their name on Kazaa or Morpheus you'll find about 10,000 files. xd They're the band that orginated music "piracy"...

the Beatles have won me over, but i don't really know much about the other bands that have been mentioned (i get the impression that most of them are American, correct me if i'm wrong)...
i like the beatles because of their optimism and hapiness and brighness- their lyrics inspire me to lead a life by what they say like "Let it be" and "with a little help from my friends" biggrin

I have several bootlegs that I recorded myself at Dead concerts in the 80s. It was such an awesome vibe, to have artists that didn't care about selling albums or having people record their music for free, they just wanted to play some good tunes, have a great time, and spread their messages throughout the people. After all, they made much more money from their merchandising than they ever did off their albums anywho. xd
