I live in the US....I first watched the dub (obviously) and I just got the DVDs...eps 1-196 xd and it took me quite a few eps to get used to their Jap voices...they sound more mature...but I like the Jap VAs much better...they always are....

Another reason why I love the japanese is because I get to watch it further ahead of those watching it in english. I pity those of you.

I prefer the dubbed version, myself, for several reasons, the main one probably being that dubbed is how I first experienced Naruto - prior to the Toonami airing of it, I'd never seen or heard the show.
Other reasons are, like, let's see... I think that the English voices fit the character's appearances (not saying that SOME of the Japanese ones don't).. and I've found that, in the subbed version, a great deal of the male voices all sound, for the most part, the same. Deep, deep, deep. Don't really like that.
Another thing is that, when dubbed, Naruto seems to be a bit more lighthearted of an anime than when subbed, and that attracts me to it, as well. Can't have an anime like this being too serious, I think.
Then there's also the amount of people that, y'know, HATE the dubbed version and can only watch the subbed version, considering it 'better'. Hey, they're free to think that, of course, but such attitudes and fandom are serious repellants, for me at least. I have a thing for being non-extremist - don't HATE one thing with a fiery passion, and LOVE something else with an equal passion, I say: stay inbetween.
And also, I just enjoy watching anime in my native language, not having to look down at the words on the screen everytime someone talks and distracting from the action or faces on the screen.
And I have a feeling that, in this guild, I'm the only one that thinks like this. x3

I think subtitles are fine if you learn how to look at the entire screen and reading the words at the same time. I'm used to the dub, I just don't like the added phase in Naruto's that much. You know... 'Believe it.'
I think Lee's voice sounds meek to me though. I don't know, I think I got used to the Japanese version that the dubbed version sounds funny to me. Oh well. ^_^
I don't mind as long as I can see the episodes. Beside the dubbed does make a lot of sense too.

Japanese all the way. Their voices are better and its much more interesting. The english version is too 'kid friendly' so its not that exciting....

I like the subbed version in japanese. You need to get used to reading fast though taht way you can look at the whole screen too.
Lots of japanese jokes, phrases, and just culture gets lost in teh dubbed version, not only that but the directing is better in japanese because it is more to the creater's viewpoint.
I think naruto's vioce actor in japanese is waay better in describing naruto than his english one (probably b/c they used a girl in english.. -_-) same goes for most of the other characters, especially sakura and jiraiya.

Crimson_Chaos_Seraph I think naruto's vioce actor in japanese is waay better in describing naruto than his english one (probably b/c they used a girl in english.. -_-) same goes for most of the other characters, especially sakura and jiraiya. A girl voiced Naruto in the Japanese version, too. But I really prefer Naruto's Japanese over the English. Not that I don't LIKE the English, I just prefer the original. I think it fits better. It's cuter and a little more age-appropriate. There are a few voices in the English that I like, like Sasuke and Kakashi's. Sakura, Shikamaru, and Kiba's have their good points, too. Jiraiya's sounded a bit deep, but I haven't even seen the full episode in English yet, so I can't judge. My friend was ticked last night when they made up an hour-long Chuunin Exam re-cap instead of showing the Jiraiya episode. (She hasn't seen it yet.) Now she wants me to give her the Japanese episode because she won't be here next week. XD

I like the Japanese version better because it fits the characters more. As stated before, the English VAs for that particular show do tend to go overboard a bit. I only liked Sasuke, Kakashi and Hinata's voices in English. I actually don't mind the subtitles, I like reading them, even when a show is in English.
