( ;p i only did it so people could get the true feeling of how insane Vynn can get. heh. but hey, may as well :3)

arrow Deep Space Battleground; Optional BGM: Insecurity - Xenosaga Episode I OST, Disc 2

The deckplates beneath Vynn's feet stopped ringing as the turbolasers ceased fire. All that remained of the last Zilart ship now was an unidentifiable mass of blackened debris and organic material. That was just one more thing he disliked about that race; a fully-mechanical ship's debris sometimes seemed like a work of art to him, a memorable photograph of a battleground. But the half-organic, half-machine amalgams that were the Zilart ships looked to him like space litter.

With a sigh, he turned away from the bridge viewports and walked back to the communication station, where William was apparently in dialogue with another craft. During his brief bouts of insanity, Vynn frequently lost all regard for everything except the destruction unfolding before him, which was why William was his second-in-command. Whenever these situations occurred, William was able to quickly and flawlessly take over the command duties.

"You need not fret over the Zilart battle, Captain Eyanami," William was explaining. "As we speak, our vessel has just finished mopping up the last of their convoy. The threat they pose has been removed. As mentioned, we have deployed a number of Ession mines in this area to interdict any Zilart fleets. You should be able to detect them on your sensors as you near them, and they will ignore you unless you attempt to enter hyperspace, or pass them while in hyperspace."

Stepping up beside his XO, Vynn laid a hand on William's shoulder, that touch indicating that he was back in his right mind and could take over. With a nod, William stepped out of the holocomm transmission field, allowing Vynn to take his place.

"I apologize for any inconvenience we may be causing you, Captain," he said. "I am Captain Hano of the Assault Star Cruiser Intrepid. Might we be of any assistance to you today?"

"All Zilart unit's destroyed!" A 100-series piped up.

That was music to her ears. And such a relief on her and the rest of the crew because everyone seemed to be a little more relaxed now. And the young man before her seemed to be in a cool mood then ever until a man seeming to be a little older then the first stepped in and introduced himself as Captain.

"I Thank you for taking time out to discuss the current situation with me. You see, The Ethrinill is a little damaged from an..." She paused for a moment, "An accident I would rather say. And our destination is Second Miltia. We didn't expect to be stepping into a Zilart battle this close just after one a few hours earlier." She sighed sort of heavily, "As a Captain yourself, I suspect you know my feelings on the current situation. We are limited with man-power. I have a favor to ask of you." She paused for a moment and felt a little more shaky, but she had no choice. With the threat of the Zilart and Gnosis in this region of space, she didn't want to risk her ship and it's crew alone.

"Captain Hano, I request your assistance. We..." She paused again.

"I would be indepted to you."

He waved off the comment of being owed a favor. "Think nothing of it, Captain. We would be happy to escort you to Second Miltia."

He turned to the side for a moment and called out, "Peewo, transmit the deactivation code for all the Ession mines that are in the path of a direct hyerspace jump between here and Second..." He then paused, realizing that the Eldridge was probably not equipped with an independent hyperdrive the way that the Intrepid was, that allowed the craft to jump into hyperspace without the use of a column gate.

That's not to say, of course, that his ship still couldn't use them. "Sorry, transmit the deactivation code for all the mines in the path of a column jump between the nearest gate and Second Miltia."

"Aye, Captain," answered the principal weapons officer, abbreviated PWO or 'Peewo.'

Despite the fact that he knew he wouldn't be told, Vynn was almost tempted to ask what cargo the Eldridge was carrying. He quickly shook off that thought, however, and gave the other captain a game smile. "At your leisure then, Captain Eyanami."

(and i probably should've mentioned this earlier, but William is actually older than Vynn. William's going on 50. rofl )

(Ahh well, I'll keep that in mind)

"Unfortunatly Captain." She began, "We cannot gate-in at this time. Part of our hyperspace drives were damaged in the incident." She leaned down for a moment running her fingers gently across the smooth glass panels before her. A much smaller holographic screen appeared before her detailing information in the repair status of her ship. She sighed, it was down to 2 1/2 hours. And with the lack of man power on her ship things only seemed slower.

She looked back up at Captain Hano again, "May we borrow extra man power on your ship for our repairs? Of course, I extend my invitation to the Captain as well, so we may talk about the plans to Second Miltia just in case the repairs don't go smoothly."

Hikari stepped backwards she was being paged again, she could feel a slight vibration in her back pocket. And without seeming to be rude she pulled it out and continued to let the Connection Gear vibrate in her right hand. "Is that okay with you, Captain?"

Vynn nodded again. "Of course. We'd be happy to lend you some of our technical crew." He turned toward a nearby crewman. "Lieutenant, get word down to engineering to assemble a specialist team to assist with repairs to the Eldridge's hyperdrive, then scramble AMWS squads four and six to provide sentry duty in case we get any more visitors."

As the lieutenant nodded and left, Vynn turned back toward the holotransmission. "We'll be over in just a few minutes, Captain. Intrepid out." He then nodded to the comms officer, who cut the transmission.

With that done, he turned toward William and scratched the back of his head. "Well, what do you think?"

William regarded the captain smoothly and looked at a datapad in his hand. "Our records indicate that the Eldridge is aligned with the Kukai Foundation, but currently on loan to Vector for a cargo transport assignment."

Vynn nodded. "So their story checks out, since Vector runs most of their show out of the division headquarters on Second Miltia now." He smirked. "Vector. It's been a while. I wonder if anyone would recognize me. That doesn't matter. Take over here. I'll head over with the engineering crew and see what's going on. I doubt they'll let me see their secret cargo, but I may learn something if I keep my ears open."

"Understood. Good luck."

A few minutes later found Vynn in the passenger cabin of a Theta-class shuttle making the transit between the Intrepid's ventral hangar bay and the main hangar on the Eldridge.

The communication line ended, and for an odd reason Hikari sunk to her knees with a deep sigh. "We're safe..." She quietly whispered to herself, but loud enough for only Rose to hear. She turned around in her seat and eyed her carefully. "Are you sure you're okay, Hikari?"

For a moment Hikari wanted to shake her head 'no' but she swallowed her pride and nodded. "Despite the lack of sleep, I'm fine..." She lifted her Connection Gear with her hand turning it on, a light blue holographic screen appeared with a star shining on an e-mail she had recieved during the conversation with Hano. "I'll have to check it out later..." She murmured to herself.

"The android we found?" Rose replied.

Hikari nodded after finishing her e-mail, and remained seated on the ground. "Apparently, it can be revived... Shion Uzuki sent us one of the android's former bodies, all we have to do is move the data from that body to the next."

"But no one on the ship has any real Vector knowledge besides you, myself and two others down in the lab." replied Rose. Of course this was true, but Rose was needed on the bridge more then ever and another member was needed for the dive inside of the unit named KOS-MOS. But she couldn't trust anyone with this sort of task.

"I guess I'll be diving in alone." She replied and grasped ahold of the rail that lead up to the main decks console and pulled herself up with ease.

"But you're..."

"I'll be fine...by the way, turn off the G.S. for now... this way the team can reach the hyperdrive panels that are malfunctioned. I want you to command the ship in my absence, for now I must go play host."

Rose sighed turning away from her Captain's stern watchful eye and proceeded to release the Gravity Simulator. She reached over pressing a small red button on the panel, and began to speak calmly. "Attention all passengers, we are currently stopping for repairs for the Ethrinill's Hyperdrive. We are also disengaging the Gravity Simulator for the mechanics team. All available and uninjured A.M.W.S. units and A.W.G.S. units please dispatch for on duty patrol."

After ending the call, Rose turned around to find Hikari gone already.

"Hikari..." She sighed.

"Captain!" Suits of light blue and orange halted when she stepped into the hangar. They saluted her, and she quickly saluted back not wanting to waste any more of their time. "Mathis!" She called out to an elderly blonde headed male dressed in what seemed to be a military suit. He turned his head towards her and smiled jumping up slightly and floating towards her.

"Yes Captain?" He replied.

Hikari stared him down for a moment, her eyes nearly on fire she pulled back her hand and quickly slapped him across the face, his face remained turned away from her. She couldn't think of anything to say to this foul man that she hated above others.

"If..." She began quietly.

"If you ever put this crews lives in jeoprody ever again..." She lowered her hand slowly, her nerves nearly calming but not quite enough, she knew that some people were staring at there angered Captain, but she cared not. "I'll be sure to jettison you out into space." There eyes met once more as he turned his head back towards her with a bit of a smile, "I mean it."

"But isn't that considered murder my dear?" Mathis laughed.

Hikari turned away lightly stepping into the air and began to float away, "Not on my ship..."

Vynn sat in the farthest seat, in the farthest corner of the passenger bay that he could find. He had settled into that seat at the outset of the journey and not moved since, not looked around, or spoken to anyone.

It was another of his personality traits that his crew was used to. In battle against the Gnosis and Zilart, he tended to temporarily lose touch with his sanity, and after the battles, he would withdraw into himself, becoming unresponsive and picking up a forlorn expression.

Most of the crew reasoned that his frequent and violent mood shifts were a result of something the Gnosis had done to someone or something he had strongly cared about in his past. That would explain why he took such pleasure from their destruction; a desire for revenge. It also explained his post-battle attitude; no matter how many Gnosis he killed, it would never bring back what he had lost.

They all sympathized with him; there was no one in the galaxy who hadn't lost friends or loved ones to the Gnosis. None of them ever tried to comfort him, though; not only was it against ship's etiquette for a crewman to try and comfort the ship's captain, but they were all familiar with the kind of pain he had to deal with, and they knew that pain like that just couldn't be put aside with a kind word or gesture. It was something their captain had to come to terms with on his own. And in the meantime, he was still an exceptional commander the rest of the time.

"Beginning landing cycle," the pilot reported from the cockpit of the craft.

Like a light switch being turned on, Vynn came out of whatever hell his mind put him through, and returned to commanding officer mode. He glanced around the bay at all the technicians, some of whom were securing their harnesses, others actually connecting them for the first time in the trip.

"Okay, gents, you'll probably be looking at an old-school column-dependent hyperdrive." This earned some snickers from the technicians. "So just keep that in mind, and be on your best behavior. Just because our ship could fly circles around theirs doesn't mean we get to act superior."

Outside, the downward-sweeping wings of the shuttle had folded up into their landed configuration as the landing gear deployed. With a grace born of years of practice, the pilot expertly guided the shuttle into the hangar and down on a cleared patch of hangar deck big enough for the shuttle, then lowered the ramp and began the power-down sequence.

As protocol dictated, Vynn was the first one to come down the ramp of the shuttle, but he paused at the end of it, not yet stepping onto the Eldridge's deck.

"Permission to come aboard?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 07, 2006 5:59 pm

Hikari turned her head quickly, to see a man standing at the entrance of the vessel that had landed there. She forced her best smile and manuevered her body through zero gravity with ease, to greet him. "Permission granted. Welcome aboard Captain Hano. I trust that your crew knows how to fix a non-column-dependent hyperdrive?" She crossed her arms.

She turned looking at her crew that were merely gathering up the necessary tools and equipment. "Alright, they're here. I expect your messes to be cleaned up when your finished. Got it?"

"Yes ma'am!" Her crew saluted in unison.

Turning back to Hano, she nodded. "Come, we have much to discuss." She beckoned to Hano.

At the mention of their hyperdrive not being column-dependent, the technicians exchanged glances with one another, then burst out laughing. "Can we fix an independent hyperdrive?" one of them asked. "Our ship's the very one they field-tested the independent hyperdrives on!"

Vynn turned around and booted the loudmouth right in the stomach, knocking the man down. "Shut your traps and get to work. You're not getting paid by the hour."

Shaking his head, he turned back toward the ship's captain. "Techs. No matters at all. Well then, Captain Eyanami, lead the way."

At their laughter, Hikari smirked knowing very well about her own technician's plans for them. She shook her head and pressed her foot against a nearby crate, "This way." She replied without laughing. "We shut off the gravity so the technicians could reach the damaged parts of the ships. Also it will save their energy without having to climb latters." She lead him through the doorway and into a hall where they traveled quite a ways down and then turned into a room on the left. She opened it where two or three other people were inside minding their own business at a rather large meeting table, used for the Hangar's Staff.

"Please, have a seat." She said directing him with an extended hand towards the large table.

Vynn really didn't care for zero gravity. He was perfectly capable of functioning at one hundred percent while freefloating, but that didn't mean he had to enjoy it.

With a practiced grace, he pulled himself along at an appreciable speed by gripping various protrusions along the corridor. Once into the room, he pushed off the doorframe with his feet, grabbing onto an empty chair and vaulting in midair before pulling himself down into it, and idly wondering if it came with a seatbelt.

Hikari sat rather comfortably, she placed her hands neatly in her lap and looked in Hano's direction. "First off, I must give my apologies for asking you for help on such a short notice. I am sure you were probably busy with your own venture as well. And that I appreciate you coming on board without a problem to repair the Eldridge." She raised her hand and placed it gently on the panel beside her and unconsciously selected a small blue circular button just at the right hand corner, revealing a holographic 3D model of the Eldridge.

"We took damage to quite a few parts of the ship due to a certain someone bringing onboard a live Zilart without our prior knowledge." She sighed heavily looking at where the holographic image had pinpointed several of the problems on her damaged ship. "When it got out, somehow it managed to call for more Raikart hidden in surrounding areas. It was a mess."

She left the image up for Hano to review. "I want to discuss with you about what we should do in case of a Gnosis Gate-In or Zilart Gate-In. I most preserve the integrity of both of our crews. Also... as for payment, I will have Vector send you your reward for stopping to help us."

arrow Briefing Room

Leaning forward to rest his right elbow on the table, Vynn cupped his hand and stared into the holoimage of the ship, studying the indicated damage areas. He leaned back after a moment, and gave the other captain a wry smile.

"There wasn't much to interrupt us from. We've had a dead trail for our primary mission for months now, and we can accomplish our secondary mission, wiping out the Gnosis and Zilart, anywhere."

He glanced to one of the red zones, what he assumed would be a good spot to store live cargo, but made no comment about how little stock he placed in the kind of biotechnicians who thought it was a brilliant idea to capture those little bastards alive for study. As far as he was concerned, the only thing about them that needed studying was how to kill them, and he got plenty of that kind of education on the battlefield.

"I'm not too terribly worried about an ambush. We've got this region of space literally webbed by Ession mines, so they'd be dragged out of hyperspace before they even got close to us, and we'd have plenty of time to react. We've also got a Hilbert device on the Intrepid capable of projecting the Effect out almost an entire parsec."

He didn't bother to mention that he'd managed to get that kind of range by utilizing the specs of KOS-MOS' Hilbert amplifier.

"And if they do get in close, with a real battle fleet and not a little dinky convoy that you saw us playing with, then I'd get serious and take my own ES out after them. I personally designed it using live battle data against the Gnosis that I've been collecting for twelve years now. Simulated tests suggest I could wipe out a quarter of a fleet the size that ambushed the Woglinde on my own with that ES, and real battles have shown those numbers to be not that far off-base."

It was a very serious business he ran, making Gnosis and anything related to them one with the universal afterlife, or "one with the Force" as some of his crew joked.

"Rest assured, Captain, any threat the Gnosis and Zilart pose is minimal. As for payment from Vector? Well, I'm sure they'd have some information we would find useful."

Oh, yes. That was without a doubt a given. If anybody knew anything that would help Vynn find her, then Vector knew. He almost, almost regretted having quit the company ten years ago, when word was handed down that the KOS-MOS project was being scrapped.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 08, 2006 4:58 am

"Your kindness is appreciated." Hikaru began, but before she could speak any further, her Connection Gear began to vibrate once more. She sighed pulling it out, the holographic screen appearing at once and she closed it just as quickly.

"My 2nd in Command is Rose, you can find her on the Bridge. She's the only one on this ship with red eyes and pink hair." She sighed standing up and gave him a smile for an apology. "I'm sorry I have to cut our meeting short, I'm needed else where it seems..." She extended her hand to him, "I'm sure there must be something else I can do, if you're crew is looking for anything to eat there is a nice area beside the hangar where they can recieve refreshments and such. Captain..." she softly said and bowed slightly to him.

"Perhaps I'll see you later."

Hikari turned then pushing off with an easy foot once more to allow her to excelerate through zero gravity. The halls were emptier then usual and she kind of felt lonely without the usual crew members bustling about their work. She sighed as she floated along and turned another corridor towards the shuttle that would take her to her destination. She halted in front of the shuttle, "Destination?" The panel asked.

"Containment Area A" replied Hikari. The door opened up, and she pushed herself inside by the use of her hands. Then the door closed behind her.
The ride was short, for the Containment Area's were next to the Main Hangar. And only high-leveled accessed users could make their way to that certain area. Hikari had remembered setting it that way the moment the partially destroyed android was found.

~Music: Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht - Disc 1: Awakening

The shuttle came to a halt, and Hikari immediatly pushed herself out towards the door at the end of the hall where she pressed her palm against a panel, "Handprint access confirmed." The door hissed open, and a sea of mist sort of pooled out. She entered, the door hissing once more and closing behind her. Hear it was chilly, in this small hall and through the next door she passed with a single eye scan. And was allowed to pass through once more.

"Captain." 4 men and women saluted her and she replied with a salute back.

"I apologize for not coming earlier... we've stopped to recieve repairs on the ship. How is she?" Hikari floated above the sides of the railing and down towards a black maintenance bed labeled 'Iron Maiden KOS-MOS' she placed her hand upon the module and sighed. "She's warm..."

"She's been acting that way ever since the new body arrived." A much older man then the rest stepped forward. "It's as if she knows she will be awake once more. Good thing Chief sent us the body, she will be happy to see her awake."

At this Hikari could not help but smile, for some reason she felt happy that she was going to help bring someone back to life that someone charishes. "KOS-MOS..." she softly replied.

The elderly man's smiled faded, "Are you sure you're ready to dive though Hikari? You really don't look so well."

Hikari looked towards the man shaking her head, "I'm just fine Togashi...please start the system."

It took a moment for Togashi to decide but he shook his head and flung a VR headgear towards Hikari, she caught it with ease and proceeded to place it on her head.

"Everyone to their stations! We may not have as many people as last time, but we can do this ourselves. Proceed with the operation!"

Hikari turned away from the others one last time looking towards the black maintenance bed once more, she closed her eyes sighing and allowed zero gravity to take ahold of her body, and opened her eyes once more to stare at the ceiling while Togashi shouted out orders.

arrow Eldridge, Ship's Corridors; Optional BGM: Here He Comes, Xenosaga Episode II OST - Disc 1

Whistling a little ditty, Vynn idly pulled himself along the corridor, looking for the nearest lift/shuttle toward the bridge. As he did so, he occupied his mind by taking in details of the ship, and trying to determine who had been responsible for designing and building her.

He got about as far as figure out that she wasn't a Federation design before his own Connection Gear began to demand his attention. Nonchalantly, he pulled the device out and glanced at it, wondering just what required his attention.

What he saw shocked him so completely that he missed a turn in the corridor and smacked headlong into the opposite wall. But even through that, his eyes never left the Connection Gear screen. It was displaying a program that hadn't seen use in ten years.

The special program he had secretly installed in a functional OS twelve years ago was online, and it displayed only two words, in red, against a black background: "
SYSTEM START"

He turned his head away from the screen and rubbed his eyes, thinking that perhaps all the stress had finally made him snap. But when he looked back again, the words were still there.

"I don't believe it..." he muttered. "You are still alive." He grinned widely as he opened up another program in the Connection Gear, shooting a call to his XO back on the Intrepid.

In a second, another window popped up, displaying William's face. "Yes, sir?"

The grin on his face was now as wide as the drive units at the rear of the Intrepid. "William, we've got business." Then he transmitted the display of the special program.

Shock registered on William's face as he saw what Vynn had been seeing, but he quickly managed to school his features back to neutrality. "Is this for real?"

"Very much for real. Operation Broken Angel is still on track. Alert the specialists."

"Yes, sir."

With that, Vynn turned off the Connection Gear and returned it to his pocket. He then stared off through the near bulkhead toward space. "Found you," he whispered. "This time, I won't lose track of you. I swear it, KOS-MOS."

His resolve strengthened, Vynn continued pulling himself along toward the bridge.
