I know what you mean. If I ever bring that up it's to make others more comfortable. Example being, I was trying to get my friend to join GSA. I told her she didn't have to be gay or anything, quote unquote. But yeah, I'm bi and I have to admit I am sort of proud of it. I try not to bring it up in places where it doesn't belong though because that's annoying.

I come from an extremely conservative area, not to say there arn't any homosexuals here, but the general populace is some thing far beyond homophobic. If you even mention the possibility of Gay Marriage you're instantly gay as far as most everybody is concerned, with the exception of the thinking few.

I still don't understand how communities like that can exist outside of Aumish Wisconsin! gonk

It's pretty substiantial, hell even racism is pretty prevelant, the N word is used pretty regularly, as well as any strange array of anti-homosexual comments.

Yes or maybe some just want to make a point that there are straight people that support gay people. Why it should still matter, I dunno.

But my friend is like that. She's okay with me being gay but she hate the fact that gay people use the rainbow as their symbol. She says that she cant wear rainbows because of that. So I asked her why it matter and I told her that she shouldn't worry about what other people think about her if she wears rainbows. She knows who she is and what other people think shouldnt matter.

But she's hard headed and still doesn't wear rainbow stuff. =_=

I think if we were only defending ourselves noone would pay attention sweatdrop lol. It's nice when straight people back us up, and I think they say they're straight so that we kno we're not alone 'n junk, not that they're scared or something. Did that make sense?

NEwayz, about the rainbow thing- idk how THAT got started but I like wearing them whee . I understand we don't OWN the rainbow but using it as a calling card is fun. I love the pretty colorz lolz whee . Plus I guess it makes it easier to get dates ya kno? See a girl you like "Hmzisshegayidk? AHA-! RAINBOW! Excuse me Miss, can I buy you a drink?"
lol

That made plenty of sense, and exactly what I was pointing to. whee

Ah yes this is true. But still. A straight person shouldn't be afraid of wearing a rainbow just because they might be labled as gay. It really shouldn't matter. And if you wanted that situation, you can just go to a gay bar.

Yeah, I can see the situation from that angle....thanks for pointing that one out guys!

.....I came close to going into a bar in London, but my teacher wouldn't let me. It has glass walls, blue neon lighting, and it was full of hot guys!
The name of this bar you ask? "GAY". pirate

I actually have a rainbow belt and a rainbow ring I wear sometimes. When people ask if I'm gay I just say "Why, does it turn you on?" or something like that. It's funny when I'm with a girlfriend and people ask whee People shouldn't be afraid to wear the rainbow just because "Oh my god, people might think you're gay!" SO? How many people think you're a loser? (not to get derogitory(sp)) Let people think what they wish, the people who really matter will find out the facts before jumping to conclusions.

I myself try not to make the statement "I'm strait" too much. I refrain from using it unless confronted by the harcore Antis or when I get hit on redface , but it can really change the atmosphere in a room. It can set others at ease because they know you're not alone and it makes the Antis relise that gays and straits will stand side-by-side to defend gay rights. That and it's nice to see old the guys squirm razz

Yeah I like women, but I'll a kiss a guy to change the mood in the room. I can hold hands with a guy or a girl, doesn't bother me. Big guy hugs, sure why not, love is love. No one should be afraid to express who they are or how they feel. Never let symbolism keep you from wearing what you want or narrow minded people's opinions keep you from being who you are and expressing what you wish to express.

Because people misread ancient texts a long while back, some were intentionally mistranslated MANY different ways MANY times a lot further back, and not enough peopel nowadays uses decent critical thinking skills to think from the other side's perspective to understand what's going on. burning_eyes
