*sigh* I wish I could sign up for one... I'm normally for E/C because I deeply sympathize with Erik and would do almost anything to make him happy. But I think R/C is more sensible. So I can't join either team.

You can go ahead, there's not much to monitor on this. I'll update the thread, sorry I haven't been around much, university is evil.
Please, no double posts. And if you're on the same team try to wait for the other team to reply before posting more than 2 messages in total from your side in a row.
I will decide when the debate is over, it won't run for too long. I'm also negotiating proper amount of prize money for the winning teams. If someone on your team doesn't post at least once I will not be awarding said person with prize money if your team wins.

The reason I think Christine should have ended up with Erik is that Erik Loves her more! heart

I probably should mention the fact that Erik taught Christine everything she knows about singing. AND he threw life after life out the window(not to mention his own) just for Christine. Now that's dedication. Besides, he had a hard life. He deserves love. heart

You know you can use the 'edit' feature so that you don't have to double-post.
1. I don't think it's really apt to say that Erik 'loves her more'. He's more obsessive, certainly, but that doesn't mean he loves her more. If anything, his is just a more selfish kind of love; he kills other people so that he can have her. His own needs motivate his actions, whereas Raoul is prepared to (and very nearly does) die so that she can be happy however she chooses. So really, who loves her more?
2. When did Erik 'throw his life out the window' for Christine? I don't remember anything like that.
3. Erik may deserve love, but so do Raoul and Christine. And even Erik realized that it's not fair to make both of them them forgo their happiness together so that he can be happy instead.

I wouldn't say Erik loves her more, either. He clearly idolizes her, but treats her more as a possession than a human being.
In both the book and the musical he traps her with no means of escape. His main motive for having her there is so she can sing to him. Yes, she owes him her musical ability, but what about her? Not everyone can live in the darkness forever.

Don't just pout! This is a debate. I'm sure you can think of something to dump over our heads.

I might be able to, but I'm not in the debate. *pouts for the sake of it*
Edit: What if I were to ask to be on both teams at once?

It's very unflattering to sulk. This is a debate, you should expect that people are going to counter your arguments.
