"Oh... My... This window is so stuck." She lied.
Pulling at the catch, she pushed it back and forward, pretending that it wouldn't open. "Oh well. I must now look for a screwdriver," her tone remained bland, twitching uncontrolably. Taking her time to go and look around.
"Oh no. This might take me a while." She seemed to pause after every word; her ears flaring red.

Lethe narrowed her eyes and looked between Yani and Keir, growing rather confused herself. Both were acting very strangely... And her magic words seemed to have no effect. Oh well -- she warned them about poison apples, it wasn't her fault if they didn't listen.
Still, they weren't acting any fun and she didn't really want to stay if it was going to be so boring. This sense of a lack of comfort they both seemed to share would effect her too, unless she did something to shatter it.
The easiest way of bringing people back together again, she remembered from her stories, was giving them a common enemy. Unfortunately hags, witches, and dragons were on short hand, so...
Lethe took a deep breath, and hesitated. Would this even work? "Kay must not be princess after all, if can't open even a window."
Well, at least having them both mad at her would give them something in common. Hopefully. She wished she didn't have to think about this so much -- why couldn't they just fix it themselves? -- and squirmed uncomfortably. She didn't like this and immediately wished she'd just stayed quiet.

Yani shook his head slightly to clear it and sat foward again.
"Um...need help?" he ventured, trying to change the subject. Anything to save face in front of this toddler who was the most crafty little being he'd ever met.

She could barely face Yani, she'd just end up blushing again, or start a series of croaking and mumbling. "I think I'm alright.." She shuddered a bit and looked around the cupboards.
"Just er.. Look after Lethe.. She likes you." Her ears twitched, her tail swung nervously, it too twitching. Slamming another cupboard, she didn't even look about them, just slamming and opening. It bought more time at least. She couldn't face going back to the two.

Huh. So they were fixing this themselves, better than with her help. On one hand she felt relieved that they weren't mad at each other (and apparently not at her either?), but on the other hand.. Maybe she needed to learn more, about being part of these people, or maybe she just needed more practice. In either case, she was deeply disappointed with the results and resolved to do better next time --
"Yani can wear flowers for crown," Lethe told him, finally realizing she never answered his earlier question, "Weave them around head. Does Yani know any stories?"
--and it wasn't fair because these sorts of things worked all the time in the stories! So why didn't they now?

"Flower crowns are for girls," he mumbled in response to Lethe's helpful suggestion. "As for stories...I do. It would just take me some time to remember them."
He winced slightly at the banging noise that Keir was making but left her alone. She sounded like she needed a moment to herself or something.

Keir butt'd in, "ah Lethe, I know a story that'll get you going. Its pretty short but listen carefully. The main character has the same name as me." She grinned to herself, keeping her eyes from wandering to Yani.
"Once apon a time. There was a witch! Her name was Keir. And she was an angry witch. A little girl annoyed her, so she put a spell on her, and the little girl was never able to blab on again, everytime she did. Her jaw froze, so the girl never blabbed ever again. The end." She turned back to the cupboards and fumbled about.

Lethe stared blankly at Keir's back. "Glad Kay is not witch, then," She said finally, unable to think of anything else to say.
"Know other story..." She began hesitantly. "Of Circe! She was a ladee who make ones she didn't like into pigs. Maybe like other Keer?"

Yani was pretty much at a loss for words right now so he listened to the two girls exchange quips, to the banging of cupboards, and to the own pounding of his head. He missed the part of Lethe commenting that Keir wasn't a witch, when in fact she is.
He sighed to himself and folded his hands, interlacing the fingers for lack of anything else to do. The air had never been so uncomfortable before.

"Kay is a witch." She stated simply, "and Kay was in that story," she grinned briefly and pretended to search one of the cupboards. One leg on worktop, she pushed herself up to have a better look in it.
"Pigs?" "Circe?" "Other Keer?" She sighed simply, "see, your blabbering, maybe Kay'll have to cast the spell on you from the story? Will she?"

Lethe looked wildly towards Keir. "Kay witch? Then Kay poison Kay and Yani?" But Kay was a princess, she couldn't be a witch! And she wouldn't cast spells on Lethe, would she...?
"Kay like Lethe too much to cast spell?" She asked hopefully, slowly sliding off the couch and edging towards the side, thinking she could try to hide behind it should Keir be angry enough to try anything.

"Yes 'Kay' is a witch," she shrugged, but only twitched, s**t, she'd looked at Yani again. Glowing pink she hid her face away in the cupboard. "Kays too busy too cast spells!" A murmer was heard from the depths of it.
Cursing to herself a bit, she shuffled up onto the work space, both knees on now. At least her tail was there to keep her balance, or she'd be falling backwards. She was chancing her luck. She was just taking a bit bit too long..

...So then Kay would, if she weren't so busy looking for whatever she was looking for? Did she really dislike her that much?
The young Fa'e peeked over the couch, entrancedly watching the other Fa'e's tail sway before returning to her senses and the task at hand. "Kay need help, uhm... finding things?" Lethe asked quietly, hesitatingly and off-balancedly making her way towards the other Fa'e.

Well...if Lethe was going to help, he figured he ought to as well...so he hauled himself out of the chair and headed for the kitchen to look in the cupboards there. He knew the placement of the cabinets and he knew what a screwdriver felt like...

Squirming a little she watched her back, and hopped down. Croaking a quick, "no its alright Yani! Got it!" She slithered over to the window, this time pretending to use the drill. "Oh its opened," she clicked the catch and pushed it open.
"There.... Thats better." The cat fa'e eyed Yani quickly, "er... Em.. Yani you can sit down now. I got it."
Wow.. Well that was a rush... Yani would probably know something was up..
