"Jesus, you really do know all sorts of people." Her eyes had gone a bit wide. "Ohh, I'm not sure I even wanna ask."

"Trust me, I wish I hadn't been a part of that drama at all. Political intrigue has never, ever been one of my strong points. And organized crime, or whatever it was, does not appeal to me either. I'm not going to think on it anymore."
Through the trees Nar catches the quiet gurgle of the central fountain and makes for it, breaking through the trees onto the dark lawn. All the late-spring insects seem to be out, mobbing the street lamps with an unintelligent tenacity. He pauses to watch them before continuing to the fountain where he sits on the rim in the cool mist. "There are lots of people I wish I'd never met. I'm sure you know what that's like."

Iden shook her head, rubbing her brow. Still tagging along after, she perched herself on the fountain's edge next to him. "Yeah, I can think of a few. Ah well, at least it's not lots."

"You've not lived so long, or you probably will have met lots." He swings his feet, gazing around at the cultivated forest and meadow around them. "I'm just glad the episode is over with. Things have been calmer lately. Maybe because I haven't been around much."

"I guess it helps a bit that I tend to keep away." Pulling one leg up, she wrapped an arm around it, steadying herself with the other. "Oh? Where was it Kesin was complaining about being left, anyway?" She'd really been wondering, ever since she'd heard the bird moaning about it.

"Left?" He sneers, bearing one of his long fangs. "He won't talk to me. He's all irritated about something. I didn't leave him anywhere; he just disappeared one day. Did he says something to you?"

"I don't know, I just remember hearing him complain that you'd left him far away." She shrugged. "Other than that, he just asked me for food, spouted some things in Spanish, and had it out with Ri."

"Spanish?" His eyes narrow for a moment, and then widen in sudden realization. He claps a hand to his head, disbelieving. "Spanish!! You can't be serious!!! He must have followed me down to Guatemala. But how? I took a plane, for crissakes!! You'd think I would notice him. Well, no wonder he's so pissed. How in the world did he get back, I wonder? I guess I'll have to ask. But who's Ri?"

"Guatemala?" Iden couldn't help but laugh, and had to catch herself quickly, to keep from falling back into the fountain. It all just sounded so crazy. Certainly explained things, though. "I was wondering why the hell a magpie would be asking for a tortilla. Oh, Ri's the little fluffy thing I had with me that day, the one who likes to hear himself talk."

"Yes, well, as I recall, he knows Romanian, so I wouldn't be so judgemental of my magpie's spanish if I were you." He gives her a funny look out of the corner of his eye. "He must have done an awful lot of begging... and stealing, to get himself back up here. But I wonder how? I'll have to ask Chac if he saw him around. I don't now where else he would have picked spanish up from, though, and I certainly haven't left him anywhere that he might learn it, unless he hitched a ride to Guatemala with me. Hmmm..."
He pauses for a moment, and takes in a deep breath, letting it out in a long sigh. "Well, this is very nice, but I'm curious to see where you live. Would you mind if I came and took a peak?"

"Hey, don't look at me! Anything he says that isn't in English is Drac's fault, not mine." She chuckled, then hopped off the edge of the fountain.
"Not at all. Err..I need somewhere with a door first, though." As crazy as that sounded.

"Yes well.... I see..." He stands up and looks around. there are doors everywhere, of course, but not so many that they can readily use without people getting worried. "I guess we should go back to the shop, then. It isn't all that far. Unless we find one on the way." He starts to meander back the way they came, looking for some door that doesn't belong to a house or a shop that's closed, but also isn't being watched in some capacity.

"We won't be opening it, or doing aything to it, really. As long as no one's watching, any door'll do." She wandered after him, pulling the necklace out of her pocket again and swinging it until it was wrapped around her fingers.

"Oh? Not open it? In that case there are plenty of doors hanging about. Let's go here." He hops across the empty road to the storefronts on the other side of the park, looks up the street one way and down the other, and then motions her over. "Nobody around. We can just use this one."

She trotted over when he motioned to her, then nodded. Grinning a little, she reached out with her hand, the one she'd wrapped the necklace around, and took hold of his. "You might wanna close your eyes. Makes it a bit easier, that way. You won't get quite so dizzy."
