*pops up*
Well, here's how I see it. You do recall that all the characters are able to do some really trippy stuff during all their limit breaks, right? Tifa summons Flipper to unleash a new brand of hell upon her foes, Aerith has the naked cherubs and their healings powers (Great Gospel, if you're wondering which one), Cid with his jumping and dynamite sticks, and Cait Sith murdering his opponents with a slot machine. Nevermind the fact that Cloud's repeated slashing with the sword is insane (and should have broken his back, if not dislocated something by now).
When a character does a special attack or is in combat, it's probably considered an extreme situation for them, in which they are able to do things that they normally wouldn't. Everyone becomes a grasshopper (where as Cid is the King of Grasshoppers), and everyone uses their own mad skillz to smack the enemy back and forth across the battlefield.
If characters like Vincent can change their shape as mad men like Sephiroth summons chunks of rock from the sky to fulfill their alien mother's wishes, then why not have them all jump around like crazy? Although Final Fantasy VII does have it's own realistic aspects to it, it's still a fantasy/fictional genre, with magic and monsters and whatnot.
Cloud, during his Omnislash limit break (from the game) actually does quite a bit of jumping, similar to what he does in Advent Children. Same with Yuffie and Tifa. In fact, your characters will perform physical feats that you or anyone around you would not want to try at home. sweatdrop It's just a game, and a fantasy-sci-fi themed one at that. It's not like, let's say, Metal Gear Solid, where the creators are actually aiming for realistic fighting.
Cid probably still jumps the highest, as I'm sure he's always practicing from his airship at home. razz
If it helps, just think of the arthritis that all of them are going to experience once the cartilage in their joints deteriorates enough from all thsi jumping. xd They won't even be able to stand, much less jump, at the rate that they're going now.
That is, unless there's some super special treatment in their world that repairs the damage done to joints. ninja

I've got it!
Cid used his lancer jumping abilites, and everyone else had mime and copied him. Also they had a quadra-magic in the slot next to it, thus making them jump even higher!
or
They threw eachother! A whole chain of people throwing eachother... that would look mighty wierd!

Not that hard to understand. Think of this in matter of powerlevel = ability.
Cloud and the gang, in FF7 the game had powers normally based around their level. When you were high level you had good materia, or just didn't need it. When you were low... well.. you didn't have much. Advent Childern is 2 years after they not only saved the world after Sepiroth literally became a god, but imagine all the power they gained after that?
Non the less, the physics on how they can do all those crazy moves is new. According the DVD extras, they wanted anything to be possible. In the game oriignally, it was only possible within the limits of both the game, and.... Well... The fact there needed to be more story. After all, imgine how much story we would of lost otherwise?

Those are possibilities.
I just don't think that leveling up would make you be able to do that. sweatdrop

it'd doesn't matter that the movie follows the law of physics it's just gotta look really cool, or something like that

Taylor_Highwind Okay...you all know how the physics in Advent Children were crazy cool and how everyone can jump fifty feet in the air and run on the sides of walls?
My brother and I were talking...and well...how come when they reached the Shinra Building in the first disc of FFVII, Cloud didn't just have Barret launch him up and let him fly to the top? Instead they ran up the staircase (or...went through the entrance).
A little strange, eh?
Also...since EVERY character can jump freakishly high, doesn't this kinda make Cid's ability like...die out? He's supposed to be unique for his high jumping attacks and whatnot...but if everyone can do that...he's not that special anymore. sweatdrop
It'd be like Vincent turning his metal arm into a gun like Barret's. neutral
Anything else you've noticed that changed from FFVII to Advent Children?
Discuss...^_^ LMAO.. I never noticed.. I laughed so much when I first saw thta part..it's like they were all leapfrogging. But. I guess..since Bahamut flies around..the Movie staff..wanted everyone to get to it. Still... I would've loved if you could just hop to the top in the game. xD

Leveling up represents expanding the boundaries of a person's capabilities so since by the end of the game they were at a high level then they became capable of jumping higher... though they were around a structure which would mean that they were probably jumping several times instead of one high jump... except cid who perhaps only had to jump once... biggrin

Quote: Blasphemize Because the game designers unintentionally contradicted themselves. I don't think they contradicted themselves. Like others have said, in the special features one of the creators said plain and simple: As long as it looked cool they did it. I love the way they did Advent Children.

The fight scenes were just too unrealistic to me...sure they probably weren't in FFVII, but they weren't outragiously wacky either.
The fight scenes in AC didn't make me go squeal and everything. sweatdrop In fact, I didn't find it as cool as most people did.
