Aiodhan looked slightly disappointed that he had missed meeting said werewolf. He had a liking for big and vicious things, mostly because he was a big and vicious thing himself when given the occasion.

"So? When he bites you, you bite him back," Amyla yawned, trying hard to cover up her weariness. "I suppose that would be a bit difficult, but you could always kick him instead."

Dekko grinned at Aiodhan's expression, shaking his head slightly. "You aren't missin' out on much, friend." He looked over at Amyla, shrugging. "Well, he's got giant teeth for one. I'm thinkin' if he bit me, it'd hurt a lot."

"Yea, it would..." Sheva said, nodding thoughtfully. "But then, you'll never get Dek to kick him. He 'doesn't kick friends.'" She rolled her eyes

"Huh, she wouldn't like it much if I kicked her." Dekko muttered to Aoidhan.

"Maybe not. But still... I'd like to meet something with a bit of ferocity. The most vicious things in my house are Erin and Kayce when they start fighting," Aiodhan said, glancing around to see if Kayce was still in the vicinity. She was... even though she was halfway up a nice tall oak tree. "Mmm... wouldn't recommend trying to kick her. Females get very unhappy when you harm them, and while they might not have much in the way of brawn, they can blow your eardrums out with screams," he muttered back to Dekko, nodding emphatically. Yes, he had learned that one the hard way too.

Amyla smirked a bit and took Caleb from Aiodhan's grasp, cradling the cooing, giggling boy against her chest. "Size has nothing to do with it. It's the force behind the action that counts," she replied, giving Sheva a wink. "He is worried about the friend biting and serious injuring him, but he wouldn't ever kick back in self-defense?"

"I'm sure I share whatever experience you've had with women and screaming." Dekko said with a nod. Oh yes. If there were a contest for the shrillest and loudest screamer in the world, Sheva would top it with little effort.

"Oh, well he-" Sheva turned to Dekko, and blinked. "It rather seems as if they've started their own conversation." She said with a smile. "Well, you haven't seen Karyon's teeth. When he gets mad, he'll bite just about anything.

Aiodhan raised an eyebrow. "She can scream that loudly?" he queried in the quietest whisper possible, eyeing Sheva.

Nodding in agreement, Amyla gave a shrug. "Well, let them talk. I think poor Aiodhan feels overwhelmed by the estrogen levels in the house. He and Caleb are the only males. We have four other children, all females. And... well, one more in the making, I suppose you could say," she said with a rather abashed look. "That temperamental? I don't know if I could handle him, then. Aiodhan is cranky enough!"

"Oh yes." Dekko said, dropping his voice down to a husky whisper. "You've not heard true screamin' until you've heard Sheva scream."

"Oh, I know the feeling. There's too much testosterone around where I live." Sheva agreed with Amyla with a smile. "And congratulations." She said, thinking back to the time when Karyon had been a normal wolf. She'd had one litter of puppies with him, a litter of four. Two, however, had been stillborn, and the other two had been taken by hunters. After that, she'd near swore off having children altogether. Until Dekko had tricked her into the clinic. "Well, yea. He can be a mighty scary beast, that he can be."

"Oh, I think Amyla could give her a run for her money," Aiodhan whispered back, occasionally glancing at the females to make sure they weren't listening in. "And when she gets really mad, she gives the silent treatment. I think I'd take screaming over the damned silent treatment. She won't acknowledge me or look at me or speak to me or refer to me at all, and it's scary. She only did it to me once, and I hope she doesn't do it ever again!"

Amyla had the good grace to cringe. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Don't you ever want some female company?" She blushed a bit and managed to get out a thanks. "I don't think you'd care about him if he was nothing more than a vicious beast, though. He has to have some good in him too."

"I don't suppose we'll be able to find out who's louder..." Dekko said disappointedly. He peered over at Sheva. "She gets mad at me all the time. Just not enough to give me the silent treatment. Hope she never will." He shuddered at the thought.

"Well, of course I do!" Sheva said with a chuckle. "It's the guys who aren't fond of females." She rolled her eyes. "Hm... well, I suppose so. He's good-looking, for one. And really, we were together before he was a werewolf. He was a good wolf... Curse the man who made him a lycan."

"Probably not. We could try to scare the living daylights out of them, but I'd like to keep all of my anatomical parts, thank you," Aiodhan said, giving his head an emphatic nod. He would not put it past Amyla to give him a swift kick for giving her a near-heart attack. "Yeah... silent treatment is to be avoided at all costs."

"Oh, I see. Well, if I were you, I'd just tell them to shove it and adopt a female child or two so that the numbers were a bit more even. But I'm just difficult that way," Amyla laughed, trying to imagine herself in a house full of males. Nope, that wouldn't be pretty. "Who made him into a lycan?" she asked, curious and a bit concerned.

"I'm like you, man. I feel compelled to live the rest of my life with both my wings in the right place." He agreed, looking down at Sheva, who, despite being so much smaller than him, was actually probably a much fiercer fighter.

"If they'd listen, I would." Sheva answered with a grin. But really, it was her own self-confidence that had flagged when two of her pups had been taken by hunters. She'd not planned on having children again after that. "Oh, well... I don't know, really. I wasn't there. But I know for a fact it was this man who stuck him in a faulty machine. Now he's just a giant wolf who can walk and run on two."

"Wings and tail!" Aiodhan said emphatically, waving around his spade-tipped tail. He eyed Amyla, knowing full well how dangerous she could be.

"Ahhh. Well, you could just adopt a child and let them whine until they get over it. That's how I got Aiodhan to agree to Kayce," Amyla chuckled. She frowned a bit, then, wondering perhaps how and why a person would turn an animal into a lycan. "That doesn't sound like a very courteous thing for him to do, changing him into a lycan like that. I wonder if there might be some way to reverse it, or do you like him better the way he is?"
PostPosted: Sat Aug 12, 2006 7:18 pm

"Oh, definitely, tail." He nodded. And perhaps that was the bad thing about his tail. The long hairs were easy to be pulled out.

"Well, let's just say the guys aren't the only problem." Sheva said with the smallest of smiles. She shook her head. "Oh, he was a much better wolf. You'd think his brain would've gotten bigger when his body grew, but I don't think it did. He's quite stupid as a werewolf." Sheva sighed.

Aiodhan nodded and then fell silent for a moment, glancing back and forth between Sheva and Dekko. "So... how did you meet her and the werewolf?" he asked curiously.

Amyla raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" she asked, wondering if the she-wolf wanted to elaborate. "Well, just because someone grows doesn't mean their intelligence grows with them," she said with a meaningful sidelong glance in Aiodhan's direction. "That is a shame, though, that it happened to him. Is there any way to reverse it, or maybe to help his brain catch up?"

"Well, seeing as pegasi live much longer than the average wolf, I knew Sheva's mother as a youngling. Fine creature. Wonderful mother. She had two pups, Sheva and another female. The two were weaned and halfway to adulthood when their cave came under attack bya pack of rogue males. Sheva's mother managed to escape with her sister, and she didn't get the chance to go back for Sheva, so I took her in. It was just as well that she'd nearly learned how to hunt." Dekko said, nodding, thinking back to that fateful day when he'd flown to the cave to visit Sheva and her family, and the place was overwhelming with the scent of male wolves. Then he'd found the white pup in the hollow of an old oak, and had brought her home with him. "Who knew she'd grow up to be so sassy..." He chuckled. "Anyway, she met Karyon (the werewolf) when she'd grown, and he was still a wolf back then. They had a litter of four a few years back, but two were stillborn and the others were taken by hunters at barely a month of age. After that, she almost swore off having pups anymore."

"Well, there was this thing with a litter of puppies I had a few years back..." She said vaguely. "I guess I see what you mean, but you'd think that brain would grow just to fill the empty space up there." She said with a short laugh. "If there was a way to do either, we'd need the help of whoever turned him into a werewolf. That man wouldn't do that for us. And besides, I don't think we'd be able to get the information anyway."

"But sassy is good!" Aiodhan had to interject. It was true. He liked Amyla's sassiness. Not always, of course, but it was usually quite... refreshing. He did have the good grace to cringe as he heard of Sheva's lost pups, his wings and shoulders drooping noticeably. "Oiiii... Amyla and I know that feeling. She must have had upward of a dozen miscarraiges before we finally managed to have Caleb. Still, to have them liveborn and taken... can't say that I blame her for not wanting to risk it again." He eyed Caleb where the infant boy was resting on Amyla's hip, chewing on the ends of her hair. "But it is worth the risk, I think."

Amyla was no mind-reader, but from what she read in Sheva's tone and the vague bits she picked up from Aiodhan and Dekko's conversation, she came to the logical deduction that the litter of puppies did not survive. She sympathized. Deeply. But if Sheva would rather not talk about it, then she would leave it for now. No sense poking into raw wounds; not at a first meeting, anyway. "I don't think it's the brain growing so much as evolving. Maybe it just needs an extra boost of hormones or something," she suggested. She was a doctor, after all, though psychology wasn't her specialty. "I have medical knowledge enough that I wish I could help, though complex machines and magic and elaborate formulas are a bit beyond my realm of expertise. Are you sure there's nowhere else to get information from?"
