NOdding softly, Shalafi's gaze slid towards Amalthea as if the blind Feien could actually see her. "Between the two of us, we should be able to handle things. If just ONE of us can learn the spells, then we can teach the other, yes? It might make things easier on us, since we can only rely on ourselves for this."
Normally, he wasn't so pessimistic, but Shalafi had to admit that things looked rather bleak for an ice feien trying to learn magic. Even Yeande couldnt' help him, as much as she wanted to.

Amalthea nodded, slowly. "I've been practicing Chilly Spray, like I said... I tried freezing water a lot, since it works with cold and water combined, and I can do that with Chilly Touch... I just can't produce the water, or call the water, or whatever it is. I'm not sure what to do, maybe that's part of the problem." Her wings vibrated briefly, then subsided. "For a while I was trying to freeze water in midair, really fast-like, but I couldn't do it quick enough when I tossed the water up, and nobody else would help me..."

"Maybe I could splash some water up and you could try it that way?" Shalafi brought his chin to rest in his hands then, frowning as he thought. "We can't MAKE water... we're not water Feien. But I bet if I help, you could get it easily, and then you could teach me. If we can get Yeande out of the sink long enough, we could practice in there.... I can either toss water up for you, or turn the tap on really softly and use the sprayer on the side. What do you think?"
He was going through the methods in his mind, trying to figure out the best way to go about this. Obviously, if Amalthea couldn't concentrate fast enough to do it all on her own, hew ould HAVE to help, and he was more than willing.

"Yeande in the sink?" Amalthea blinked. "Is the sink dark? Sosi-human said the other Feien here was darkness..." Water was alright, though. So long as it was cold water. "We can try that if you want," she conceded. "It might work. Or help." She gathered up Rakuen's bag and eased the gem into it, then half-folded, half-crumpled the grimoire note and shoved that in too before standing up.

"She's got another element since she merged with the gemstone. Now she REALLY likes water too, to the point where she'll deal with the sunlight from the window in the kitchen just to be in the sink." Grinning, Shalafi moved to get to his feet as well, pointing off to his right. "The sink's over there, however I don't quite know how to get there yet without someone there to direct me. Could you fly over to it and call for me?"
Sometimes his blindness was a hinderance... however, Shalafi was VERY glad that he'd managed to get over most of it.

"Um, sure, okay." Though Amalthea's skin crawled at the thought of sunlight, she was loath to show it in front of this other Feien, even if he couldn't see. She picked up Rakuen's bag and jumped into the air, wings beating powerfully, the feel of magic tingling around her. She flew to the sink and landed carefully on the side, so as not to slip on the damp porcelain. "It's over here, Shalafi," she called, waving one arm at him before she remembered he couldn't see that.

The moment he heard her voice, he took off and winged his way over, leaving a couple of feathers behind on the countertop. Landing was an easy matter, he knew enough to know where the counter was... he just hated falling in the sink when he overjudged it. "Hang on a sec.. Yeande may like the light, but I sure don't. Youko said that may have been what blinded me wh en I was a bloom." Padding over behind the sink, Shalafi batted around with one hand until he caught the cord to the window blinds and yanked on it to close them abruptly. Almost immediately, a small furrball about the size of a mouse jumped nearly four inches into the air.
"Watch it!!" Blizzard shrieked, landing in a gasping heap of fur. "I'd tell you to watch what you're doing, but..." Shrugging, the cat moved to rub around the ice feien's ankles, purring softly. "Who's your friend?"
Scooping up the momentarily irritated cat, Shalafi chuckled. "This is Amalthea. We're going to learn magic together, because we're both the same kind of Feien. Amalthea, this is Blizzard, she's my pixapet cat."

"A cat!" Amalthea stared at the cat. "I have one too! His name is Mister Cat!" Wow, she did have a lot in common with this Feien, aside from the whole not-being-able-to-see thing. "Mister Cat doesn't talk though... maybe he can't talk? Is your cat magic?" In her excitement, Amalthea took a step backwards - and fell into the sink. "OW! Um, I'm okay," she added, quickly, so Shalafi wouldn't panic.

Shalafi stepped forward at the thud, then seemed to breathe a bit more easily when Amalthea spoke. "What happened, did you slip? The sink edge can be a bit slick." He set Blizzard down, then crawled into the sink as well, moving to stand on the metal bottom.
"I am a pixacat, my dear," Blizzard said, curling up on the edge of the sink to watch them. "All of us CAN speak, some choose not to."

"Oww..." Amalthea rubbed her tailbone. That was a bruise, right there, or would be soon. Ick. "I'm okay, I'm okay..." She looked around suspiciously, quickly. Was this 'Yeande' in the sink? Didn't seem to be...
She tilted her head at the Pixacat, still rubbing at the sore spot, making her hands colder automatically in order to soothe the pain. "You can all talk? Huh." That hurt, somehow; was Mister Cat deliberately not talking to her? No, that was silly... but... well, she'd think about that one later. "I guess we found the water, anyway," she said, focusing on Shalafi. The talking Pixacat was too confusing right now, so she made an executive decision to ignore it until it made more sense. "Do you wanna start...?"
((I do want Amal to meet Yeande soon. n_n She has lots of questions for her. No rush though.))

"Sure!" Shalafi was relieved that she seemed to be alright, at least. He'd hate it if a new feien came over and got themselves killed in his sink. He moved to the faucet, pushing on the lever until a thin trickle of water came from the spigot, then moved to let it run th rough his hands slowly. "Okay. I'll splash some up in the air, you try and freeze it." He waited until he had two full handfuls, then tossed the droplets up into the air as high as he could manage.
Yeande, meanwhile, was currently flying her way towards the sink itself. At first, it looked as though a miniature fountain were there, the water arcing up towards the window. Lifting a brow, she edged closer, then smiled softly as she saw the pair 'working'. Staying quiet, she simply watched for the moment.
((It's okay. biggrin She might run into Ankou as well, not sure.))

Amalthea held her hands up quickly, pointing them at the water droplets and trying to focus the tingle of magic towards the water. It felt like pushing against a brick wall. The water splatted into the sink. "Well, foo... that didn't do too well," she sighed. "Try again?"
A few times later, the water had only frozen when it got really close to Amalthea's hands, and that could have just been Chilly Touch anyway. "What am I missing?" Amal all but whined, feeling frustrated. Even another Ice Feien wasn't helping... "Rakuen, what am I missing?" she said in the direction of the gem, which was still on the counter above the sink.
Then she noticed... "AAH!" She burst out of the sink, narrowly missing the faucet. "Who are you?!" she said to Yeande, flustered, snatching the bag away from the other Feien protectively.

"Y-yiiiiiiiiiiiii!" Shalafi startled at Amalthea's sudden move, his feet sliding out from beneath him and sending him to land in the catch-all at the bottom of the sink drain. "Amalthea? Are you alright?"
Yeande, meanwhile, lifted one brow and stood with her arms crossed over her chest as she regarded the smaller Feien. "You must be Amalthea," she said simply, tilting her head to the side. "My name is Yeande. And you really should be a bit more polite when running into a feien in THEIR home."

"Um. Um. Sorry." Amalthea flitted back a little bit. "I'm okay, Shalafi. Um. Sorry," she told Yeande again, still hovering over the sink with Rakuen's bag clutched to her chest. "You just startled me. S'all. I'm not used to seeing other Feien a lot. And you were near Rakuen... um... you're the one that joined with a gemstone, right? Um..." Amalthea finally shut up, turning bright red and feeling unpleasantly warm. She really wanted to dart into the sink, maybe all the way into the drain to get away from Yeande - well, the other Feien HAD startled her! It wasn't her fault! - but she stood her ground. For Rakuen's sake.

"Okay!" came the rather soggy call from the drain. "I'll be fine, just have to pull myself out."
Yeande nodded softly, raking an appraising gaze over the girl and the gemstone she held so protectively against herself. "I did. Which means that you have nothing to worry about with me near your stone. I can't merge with another, it's useless to me."
