Remi laughed, feeling better knowing a friend was near. At least it seemed like they hadn't figured out who she was yet. They probably would have laughed if they knew. Remi dressed up in feathers and gold. Even to her that was funny.

"It's fine," she reassured Tristan. "I feel so overdressed, but my friend--she's here somewhere--wouldn't let me go outside in anything else. And yours," she turned to the other woman, "Yours looks fabulous."

At least this other woman had an excuse of liking costuming. Chloe had just showed up at the first mention of a costume party and threw the dress at her. No choice, no say. Just wear it.

"So now that I've figured out Tristan, I need to figure out who you are," Remi smiled at Natalie, though she didn't know it was Natalie. In fact, Natalie was the last choice on her mind. This woman looked so different. She still wondered if they figured out her identity yet.

Tristan looked over the two girl once more and let out a bit of a sigh. He had no idea who was who. he was really bad at this. He supposed that since he had only met both girls once it was understandable, but he still felt rather useless.

He had an idea though.

"So how's Gavin?" he wasn't speaking to either of the girls particularly, he hoped to catch Remi, which everone she may be, off guard and trick her into answering. Of course it could back fire and he'd look like an idiot, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Ahah! If Tristan was asking that, then the girl before them must be Remi. Right?

Unless Tristan was just guessing.

Hmmm... tricky situation! She'd wanted to fool everybody, but now she realized... she hadn't wanted to be fooled herself.

"Oh, thank you!" she said, deciding to respond to the girl's compliment instead. "It's based off of a song I like."

Remi froze at the question. Well, that was it, she'd been found out. Never occurred to her that he could have been guessing. In that regard she was completely oblivious.

"He's in the room with all the other kids," she gave a sheepish smile. Now she was just Remi with a bunch of feathers attached, rather than a mysterious stranger at a costume party. "What gave me away?"

The least she could do was ask so that she could make sure she didn't do it with the next people she ran into. She saw Chloe somewhere in the distance, but her 'friend' wasn't paying any attention to her. She was probably off trying to find some boy to drag home with her, or at least get in his wallet. Something like that. Remi preferred these people.

"Nothing really," Tristan admited, "It was luck really. I knew I knew both of you, because you both knew my name and I only know two girls on the compound. So one of you had to be uh, well you, and I took a chance with the question."

He turned to the other girl, who he now knew was Natalie. For once he didn't feel so bad about spending all his time in his apartment and not meeting people. It made life easy. "That means I know who you are too," he said with a grin.

Natalie stuck her tongue out. "Oh, really, now? Well, don't go spreading it around, Mr. Smarty-pants." Now that her identity was partially revealed, she dropped back into normal speech patterns.

She waved over at Remi. "Can you guess, now? If you can't, I'm not telling! Can't have my secret identity being spread around, now can I?" Wink wink.

"Mm... Gavin. I should go check on the children, actually. If you'd excuse me for just a little bit...? I'll be back soon, I promise!"

"Well then it's my fault for falling for the question," Remi chuckled. "I'm always horrible at keeping secrets, so I figured I would be found out within the first five minutes anyways."

When the other woman's voice changed Remi recognized it immediately, having met Natalie more than once. She was okay at remembering things like hair or voice, so she could more or less tell who it was behind the mask now. She might have trouble with some of the others that she hadn't seen in a while though.

Unfortunately Natalie had run off before Remi could guess. Therefore, she turned to Tristan.

"I'm guessing that was Natalie?"

"Yup," Tristan nodded, "she really went all out to try and make it so that people didn't know who she was. At first I had no clue."

He looked around the room at all the other people. Was there anyone else here than he knew but just couldn't tell. He assumed that everyone else was good at hiding who they were.

"I really wish I had spent more time on this," he said, still looking around, "I got the outfit last minute from my friend. The only thing I owned that I could have worn would have been my work uniform." Ugh, work. Why did he just say that? he didn't want to think about work. His vaction time was almost up and soon he'd be back to flipping burgers.

"Your dress is beautiful by the way, I like the feathers."

"Thank you," Remi gave a slightly embarrassed smile. She still felt uncomfortable being all dressed up for a party. It wasn't really something she was used to. At first, she wasn't even going to go unless Stephan had sent her an invitation to go with him or something. But Chloe had gone through her mail, again, and found the invitation. Hence the elaborate costume and Remi actually being here.

"Yours looks fine," she reassured him. The suit really did look good. "It's just your hair that gave you away. You should have worn a hat, or something like this."

She pointed toward her own headdress. "I'd actually let you take this monstrosity, but something tells me feathers and veils wouldn't suit your costume. That, and Chloe would kill me."

"We tried to find a hat but none of them looked right," Tristan said, "And I tried doing something so it wouldn't stick up but its impossible." He loathed his hair, he didn't know why he didn't cut it, well at least he didn't have a reason he'd ever admit to.

"I don't care al that much," he said with a bit of a shrug. He had come to the party to get out of the apartment and meet people, and what good would meeting people be if they didn't know who he was?

"You came with a friend then?"
a slight tilt of his head as he asked the question, "none of mine could come, but if they did I'd spend all night hidding with them in a corner."

"More like I came with her," Remi said. "I wasn't sure if I was going to come, but Chloe found the invitation, threw me in a costume, and dragged me here."

Getting prepared for the party had been quite a feat. Chloe had to pick the most elaborate thing she could find for Remi, under the excuse that since she never got out at all she'd have to go in 'style.' Remi trusted her fashion designer friend, and judging from Tristan's reaction she obviously didn't look horrible.

A black gloved hand somehow found its way to Remi's shoulder. "Remi, dear, aren't you going to introduce me?"

Remi jumped slightly, only to realize that Chloe had sauntered over from mingling with other people. The other woman had a long, form-fitting gown of red and black silk. Chloe had added a cat tail to the back, and fit cat ears on top of her long, charcoal black hair. Even through the mask, you could still see her eyes the color of ice.

"Ah..." Remi paused for a moment, gesturing to Tristan. "Chloe, this is Tristan. Tristan, this is Chloe."

"Its a pleasure to meet you," Tristan said with a smile as he was introduced to Remi's friend.

Her outfit amused him, or at least the cat ears and the tail did. He had thought about doing something like that. He had a pair of cat eats lying around somewhere from a halloween a long time ago. He was going to wear them and his normal clothes, at least he would be comfortable then.

He'd look rediculous though and when he had been talking to his friedn Cody about it, he'd earned himself a laugh, so he decided against the cat ears. He didn't want to look totally stupid after all.

"My pleasure as well," Chloe gave him an amused smile that matched her feline outfit. Had Remi let her go through her mail sooner, she would have taken the time to come up with a more...creative...costume, but this would have to do for tonight. At least it wasn't a business party, so it wasn't like anyone was going to recognize her anyway.

Chloe was slightly disappointed, hoping that maybe the man she'd seen Remi talking with would have been this Stephan character she kept hearing about. Alas, just this...Tristan. She looked him over briefly with a careful eye. Nah, he was cute, but not worth her time. There were bigger fish to fry near the punch bowl.

"Well I'm going to get a drink, so I'll leave you two to your conversation," she drawled, sliding away from the two to disappear back into the crowd.

Remi blinked, feeling for a moment as if Chloe hadn't even been there.

"Yeah, that's Chloe." Not much else to say.

"She seems... interesting... I think," he looked over at Remi, half sympathetic, he knew what it was like to have weird friends. He'd have a fair share of them once upon a time, way back when he was a young lad.

"So apart from being forced into a feathery dress and then dragged here, how have you been?" he inquired. He was running out of ideas for things to talk about, he wasn't very good at conversation. He tried to be social, it just didn't work out for him very well.

Remi glanced back at Tristan. How had she been? Horrible, truthfully. Scared. Frantic. She'd gotten some respite since Thorn hadn't been around recently. However, she still jumped at the slightest knock on her door and hesitated before even entering her own apartment. Fortunately she had Gavin and her writing. Nothing like throwing all your energies into family and work to keep your mind off creepy men that liked to attack you in your own home.

"I'm doing...fine," she forced a smile, trying to make it sound like truth. Things would get better. They just had to. "What about you?"

Yes, change the subject off her own life. Maybe if she didn't think about Thorn for long enough, he'd just leave her alone.
