Tumai purred deeply as Aleu nuzzled into him, and was reluctant to let her go. It was too nice a day for her to be cooped up in the cave though. "OK my love. I'll wait here for you." Smiling as she licked him, he leaned up from where he was lay to watch her leave. She was so beautiful, bathed in the morning sun, he felt lucky to be with her. After Aleu had left, Tumai once again turned to look out over the Valley.

*With ample eyes the lioness panted and moved herself from one end of the den to the other. Her actions where very aggressive and he movement was stressed and lame. She felt an ache within her chest pull at her emotions with a soft cry she looked back into the cave. They were so small and perfect to her, how could she feel this way now? She had dishonored her mate and the pride that he loved… would he still love her?
Sitting herself down just at the opening of the cave she sighed and did her best to gather her words for when her mate returned. Aleu was so lost right now, she only hoped that he would understand.*

Tumai had been gone for quite a while. Rather than using what little resources the Valley had to spare, he ventured outside of the Valley to hunt. Over the last few months, Aleu had been getting quite "ample" in size, so he kept on hunting different prey in the hopes of finding one that didn't cause Aleu to gain anymore weight. Not that he minded her being fat, as it only meant that there was more of her to cuddle.
With the lifeless body of a hare clutched in his mouth, he managed a tiny smile as he spotted the love of his life pacing just inside the entrance to the den they had shared ever since Aleu was brought to the Valley. From that distance, he couldn't see the troubled expression on her face. Grinning, he dropped the hare and moved quicker to nuzzle her. "Did you miss me?" He called out as he moved ever closer.

“Oh Tumai...”
*The lioness groaned as her mate moved near. Her eyes softly narrowed as she let another regret filled sigh pass her chest. He was so good to her… how was she going to tell him?*
“Why are you back so soon?”
*Soon? He had been gone for a good day or too… Aleu was very bad at lying, she hated having to be dishonest with him.*
“I mean…”
*She stammered softly- how would she tell him?*
“Tumai, I can't live here anymore...”

Tumai stopped just before reaching Aleu, a confused expression on his face. He could immediatly tell that something was wrong, now that he could see her up close. "Soon?" His tone of voice matched the confused look on his face. "Aleu, what's wrong?"
At her next statement, Tumai's eyes widened, showing that he was more than a little shocked. He glanced back at the hare he had brought. "I know it can be hard at times, but we've gotten this far haven't we? The Valley is a safe-haven for the most part, where I can protect you from those that would want to hurt you." Saying that, he continued moving forward to nuzzle her. It was only then that he noticed a dramatic change in Aleu's apparence.
With an even more confused look on his face than before, he took a few steps back, to take a proper look at her. "Aleu...what happened to you?" Her body had reverted back to how it was months before, and he truely couldn't fathom why.

“Tumai… I am so sorry, I have shamed you...”
*Aleu’s head hung low as she slowly pulled herself from him and stepped aside. Within the back of the den lay five tiny bodies, softly tucked one along the other, sleeping peacefully. Aleu had given birth while he was away… and though she promised to wait for such a thing, the female couldn’t control her body; she simply assumed that the one time she and her mate shared each other’s company had bestowed this upon them, this wonderful gift of life… they had been so careful not to have this happen, but where were they to do? They were in love after all... it was hard ignorning love.
Her body softly trembled as she awaited his reply. She couldn’t think now, what would he say to her? Would be upset? She promised not to have cubs… but it happened, and she didn’t regret it. Aleu loved all of her cubs.*
“…Three boys and two girls...”
*She muttered softly, gazing at him with a distressed expression.*
“What will we do..?”

"Shamed me?" Tumai almost laughed out loud, as the very thought of such a thing seem impossible to him. However, he could tell by Aleu's uncomfortable body language and her tone of voice that this was no laughing matter, so he fell silent.
As Aleu stepped aside, Tumai peered into the cave, only to see a sight that he couldn't have ever imagined in his wildest dreams. Five tiny little balls of fluff, in shades of beige, ginger, brown and even silver. Immediatly the memories of that one night many months ago where they had both given in to their love for one another came flooding back. Their desire to express the ultimate show of love had simply been too great.
Almost tentitively, he stepped into the cave, to take a closer look. They were all so beautiful, each of them resembling himself and Aleu in their own way. "They're all so wonderful..." He trailed off, looking back over his shoulder towards Aleu. "I'm just sorry that you had to birth them all on your own." Saying that, he turned and walked back to Aleu, giving her a gentle lick on the cheek.
Tumai knew why Aleu was worried. They had promised Maji that they wouldn't try for a family until the rains had returned. After turning back to the cubs, with a thoughtful expression on his face, he wondered what they should do.

*Without any words the female softly nuzzled herself against her mate and smiled. She couldn’t be too upset… after all, they had five perfect bundles of love sleeping before them now, they had a family now, with the love that they shared for one another, and they created this perfect family.
Aleu knew that leaving them here to grow up would be hard… so until Tumai thought of what he wanted to do she would sit still and relax. The birth went smoothly and she didn’t mind that he wasn’t there at the time… in fact she liked it better, it was really nice seeing his face when he saw the cubs… he seemed so... so happy!*

Tumai smiled and nuzzled back into Aleu, happy that she seemed relieved by his reaction to the cubs. How could he have reacted any differently though? This was exactly what he and Aleu wanted, but it had simply come sooner than planned. Still, that didn't make him any less proud and excited about being a father.
Still smiling, he motioned for Aleu to join him in the den, before making his way in there himself. He seemed rather shy of the cubs, seemingly not knowing what to do, or whether or not it was OK to touch them. Deciding it was best to just leave them sleeping, he lay beside the litytle bundles, a very content look on his face as he looked over each of them.
"First things first, we need to name them." He said, smiling at Aleu as he did so.

*Settling down beside her mate and newborns the new mother smiled peacefully down at her lovely cubs.*
“Tumai… the silver on our girls… did that come from your mother?”
*She purred with this question. They were all so perfect to her… from head to paw, every last on of them; her eyes softly laced along each cub as she rested her head against her mate’s soft mane.*
“…Names…”
*She thought for a moment; what on earth would they name them? She didn’t want to give them names that she felt unfit now, her cubs would have the best.*
“Tell me then my love, what would you like to name this one?”
*As she spoke she motioned to the smallest of the bunch, a tiny female that looked exactly like Aleu, but with a gray colored pelt.*

"Yes it did." He replied, nodding airily as he did so. His mother would be so proud to see that her grand-daughters took after her in some small way. Tumai was proud of all of the cubs though, as each one was a perfect blend of himself and Aleu, some more so than others.
At Aleu's question, he focused on the cub that looked exactly like its mother, but with a grey and white coat instead of a brown one. "How about...Fedha'mvi?" Tumai glanced towards Aleu, to see what she thought of the name, before turning to the other female cub. "And could we name this one Mai?" He smiled down at both girls, hoping that both would turn out a little like his little friend Sevati.

*At Tumai’s words the blue-eyed lioness smiled softly and nodded. Such lovely names… and they fit so well. They really did have perfect cubs! Aleu beamed down at her tiny loves as she spoke out softly to her mate.*
“My sons-- Lets see…”
*She tested before gazing down at all of her boys.*
“Zarin…”
*She purred deeply at her first son.*
“..Munich...”
*She paused and smiled at her second.*
“And… Mmm… what do you think about...Tulivu?”
*She asked softly, beaming up at Taumi with leveling eyes. Her paws wrapped around her cubs softly as she nestled herself closer to them. Oh how she loved her children…*

Tumai nodded in agreement with each name, smiling the whole time. It was only after Aleu had finished naming the boys that his smile faltered a little. "Now what?" They had broken their promise to Maji, so what could they do? It's not like they could hide the cubs forever, and Tumai doubted that it was even in him to be deceiptful towards the lion he respected more than any other.
The best they could do was partly honour the promise. "We should return to the place I was born, at least until the cubs are older and the Valley is better able to cope." A solemn expression remained on his face as he spoke. He had brought Aleu to the Valley so that she would be protected, and not have to endure any more hardships. "I'm sorry." He lowered his head, feeling as though he had let Aleu down.

“Please do not do this…”
*Aleu whispered.*
“I do not want you to think that this was your doing alone… it wasn’t. Things happen my love, I respect you no less.”
*As she spoke Aleu nuzzled her head against her mate’s side and purred softly.*
“It’s fate… that’s that.”
*After trying to comfort him she sighed and thought for a moment. Maybe it would be best to go back to his birth place, this land was so dry after all, and it would be hard to keep her cubs alive, let alone happy in such a place. Moving herself to nod her head she spoke again.*
“We can leave… anytime. I will follow you to the ends of the earth if need be...”
