And then suddenly, Hein arose without a single scratch on him a la GM style~!

...was what he would've preferred. It would've been a great change of pace as opposed to the splitting pain in his side that he experienced with each step he took. Needless to say, pain was not fun. And those people that were into pain and got off on it? Well, Hein had a thing or two to yell at them about.

Grabbing onto a tree for support, Hein began to hobble to and fro, incapable of laying there any longer while he waited for men to help set up an outpost by the river. It would allow them the perfect vantage point to pick off anyone from across the waterway, but that'd be a hopeless dream if there were no f'ing miners to help with the construction.

Leaning heavily against the tree, Hein hid himself behind a bush, sliding down into the foliage as he rested there, waiting as a less than happy camper.

Blazing Plains ->

The APC rolled up by the river as it screached to a halt, the gunner up top swivelling around to spot or enemies before the hatch began to open with a hiss. UGH soldiers began exiting the vehicle, moving to surround it on all sides as they crouched down and readied their weapons in a defensive formation.

Ji Long would move out of the vehicle, followed by Fourteen as they would crouch down and look around as well.

For now, all there was to do was locate the missing person.

And then he was out of the APC, stretching out his legs and just basically preparing himself for whatever would await them. He looked around, obviously spotting nothing that the soldiers already hadn't.

"Alright, well."

He looked back to Fang, dusting himself off.

"Where we headed now?"

He took out a map as he began speaking, "We're in a vulnerable location; there is little to no cover at all. And on top of that, the one location which may provide cover, the ruins, is already garrisoned by the enemies."

"Fourteen, take a look." he ordered before continueing as the man turned his goggles on and peered through the scope of his rifle to scout out the surrounding area a distance away.

"First, we have to locate Hein Griever to acuire information on out enemies." he started to lay out his plan, "As one of the people which had been defending the dam before its fall, he should know the strengths of our enemies as well as information."

It was very easy to see what came next. With information, a plan could be laid out, and with it, tactical advantage. Both the UGH forces and Athan Cole were neither a part of the event to protect the dam, and as such, the opposition had no information on them, whereas with eyewitness reports from the defenders, they had information on their enemies.

Ji Long would have his communications guy radio out on the same signal Griever had made his requests on, looking to get a hold of the man.

Athan's brow furrowed. So they were going to be waiting, a pity that he was going to be held stationary for a little while longer. Regardless, he decided to not let it get the best of him. After all, what was the purpose in getting frustrated?

"Sounds like a plan. Hopefully the guy's still around here somewhere."

His shoulders were pressed up against the APC, his head turning to look at the lake that the river dumped into. Out of all the places he had seen and visited while visiting the mining camp, this by far seemed the most desolate. He could make out the ruins just down the river, but what was that Fang said? It had already been garrisoned by enemies?

"Hm. Enemies, you say?"

Taking a look at the aftermath of the destruction of the St. Francis dam, the river more or less formed a natural barrier between the two shores of the river. What remained of the dam however, would form a bridge upriver, along the region of the Rocky Lake.

This bridge would be a strategic strongpoint.

"Secure the bridge." It was a definate order. He turned to communications to have back-up sent to secure the area and build entrenchments around the area as well as palisades. The Skinner mining company could easily provide the wood for the occasion, seeing as their base of operations at the moment was a logging camp.

((The Rocky Lake doesnt connect to the other side of the river, so I'm assuming the bridge is located along the Sunrise River at the mouth of the Rocky Lake.

*Edit: Nevermind. Seems the bridge connects from the Fuel depot to the Lakeside ruins.))

Several of the soldiers would remain in the location to search for Heil as the rest would board the APC again and head for the ruins of the Fuel Depot, where one side of the bridge would be located.

"Eh, that works too."

Athan reached up, tapping his forehead with two fingers in a makeshift salute before he moved away from the APC and began making his way downriver, towards the makeshift bridge.

Even though there were no enemies visible, he was running to the designated area. Every now and then he would check over his shoulder to see if he was being tailed, but it was more of a habitual thing than a necessity.

The bridge connected to the ruins, and since the fuel depot seemed to be fairly barren when they passed by it, that would seem to be the only real thing to worry about.

While the rest of the APC loaded up, Athan was going to the ruins, in an attempt to either secure the entirety of them, or just the bridge in particular.

Whatever resulted in the most chaos, more than likely.

"Alpha 2 to Alpha 1. No signs of target 'Hein Griever' on the eastern bank."

"Alpha 3 to Alpha 1. Seeing no signs of target from southern bank."

"Alpha 4 to Alpha 1. I'm see-wait...I think I've found him. Location is the western bank, the only noticeable landmark being a large tree...you're sure we're looking for a guy though, right?"

"Um...yea Alpha 4. Hein Griever. Male...why do you ask?"

"No reason, sir. Just...he's cute."

Hein had rolled out of his cover at the sounds of the APC rolling in, but he had been too weak to call out or anything else. Thank God almighty that he had found him though. As he lay there looking up at the UGH soldier, Hein offered a small smile and a weak question.

"...heh...what took you guys so long?"

"Apologies, sir. You weren't exactly helping on your end either."

"...touche...koff..."

"Medic!"

The group of 5 UGH members, 4 soldiers and 1 medic, were huddled around together. The medic, a young boy about Hein's age, was busy dressing his wounds while the 4 soldiers idled by, their hands at their guns as they waited for any signs of opposition. As the medic finished the last of the bandages, Hein nodded once, the motion stiff, but still thankful for the treatment as he turned to the 5 men.

"You lot weren't at the dam when it happened, but these Shades aren't playing around...they've got quite a lot of abilities that we've never seen before. One being the ability to create barriers to stop bullets. This isn't a conventional war anymore. But that just means that we're gonna have to be a little creative."

Stopping for a moment, he closed his eyes as he tried to remember those that he had seen at the dam. That information had to be dispersed asap. It was a do-or-die type situation after all.

"Their barrier-creating abilities rely soley on a white mage. She's been saved on several accounts by other individuals from her faction as well as a Guardian. Her stature is fairly small, and by her physical appearance, it can be assumed she is of Asian heritage. Shoot her on sight. Do not hesitate."

"The second individual for notice would be a halberd wielding idiot. This man exhibits both unnatural strength as well as above-par speed. His halberd increases his range of action greatly; therefore, we must act with intelligence. At range, it seems he is able to use some sort of explosive energy which he concentrates in his free hand while holding his polearm in the other, a deadly combination of both long and close-range capabilities."

"On their side is an archer as well. Like the others, he has exercised magic-level capabilities. One of the skills that I experienced was an enchanted arrow of ice. Laugh now, but just by being grazed by it, I nearly had my skin burned off. He shows no other threat in close-range, and was even so stupid as to charge while using long-range equipment. This makes me assume that he has no capabilities outside of long-range attacks."

"On the whole, the Shade faction seems to rely on the arcane and the archaic. Their equipment is outdated compared to our's, but that should not mean we should underestimate them. That'll get you killed. Watch for their magic capabilities, and show them what technology does to old-age idealism."

Turning to the medic, Hein thought for a moment before speaking again, orders coming from his mouth like water.

"Medic, request your CO for permission as to whether or not I can take you boys for a few rounds of 'King of the Hill'. At the same time, relay all that information to them as well. As for you soldiers, make sure your equipment's in order. We're gonna be in for some work if we meet any of those guys that I saw at the dam."

"Alright men. We'll be moving west to the Crescent Plains, claim the area, then double-back and head east to the Blazing Plains. That 'light source' is kicking my curiosity, so we'll head up to through Bright Forest to that Lite and Easy Cave or whatever it was."

"Yes, sir!"

EDIT: "Actually. Screw that plan. I suddenly got a kick in the a** from some omnipotent God that referred to himself as the The Almighty Jello. And he told me to get my priorities straight. We're heading to the Lightless Cave."

With that, the men began to move out towards the Blazing Plains.

He followed the river on dragonback, flying low. He could hear the sounds of gunfire already.

It would start slow from the Crescent Plains embankment.

Shades were doing a bit of scouting along their side, before starting to move large amounts of dirt to the edge of the river. Once one pile was made large sticks were dragged along and pointed outwards to the other side of the river.

They were setting up preventative measures should anyone feel the need to go around, or swim onto the fortified plains.

More holes were dug and booby trapped in key locations as well. Mostly were the river didn't move quite as fast.

Lastly, any bits of dam that were heavily in their territory were broken up, getting rid of any extra "bridges" to the other side.

This left only the one from the Blazing Plains to the ruins, as it was too far upstream to risk.

There were ten shades in this area.

Five of them were currently carrying tools and would take at least a turn to get combat ready.

Four were pawns, equip with swords.

One was an armoured overseer, equip with a great axe.
