[Third August]

[Nova]

"I call this family meeting to order!" Nova said wearily, tapping her fingers on the table. The noise continued. Luckily, she had brought reinforcements; a little vial she had 'borrowed' from Dua. She brought it down hard on the table with a 'bang', and the room fell silent.
"Thankyou" she said softly, sarcasm in every syllable. "Now. As I am -sure- the rumour has circulated, I -have- booked an appointment at a Maternity Clinic -" she held up a hand, as discussion threatened to break out again. "I'll be going there in two days, okay?"
"Mum" Lilith looked furious; Nova's teenaged daughter was not happy. "You mean I'm going to have a brother who is -younger- then my SON!?" she said fiercely, her voice almost a hiss.
"Half-brother, dear" Nova said calmly. "And may I add, this meeting isn't for people to raise objections, although you can if you want to. I don't plan to listen. It was merely to let you know. Now, as I'm sure you're all aware, Assael might take a bit of interest in the new arrival, which is why we're going over this. You all know the precautions to take, but I hope you don't mind me going over them again..."

SS Nova
The young-looking woman strode into the clinic, trailing a rather large grey wolfhound after her on a piece of string. Red hair spilled down from a messy bun, and her light sundress was marked with what looked suspiciously like blood - although that was with genuine reason, being as she had been feeding the meateating horses; they were incredibly fast, but a pain to feed. Sometimes being a throwback from greek mythology was a pain.
Looking around, she settled herself on a hard chair, legs crossed, one foot dangling. The grey wolfhound - which, coincidentally, answered to the name of Lina - slunk after her, seating itself with a thud, and then lying down, head on paws.
The wolfhound whimpered, catching werewolf scent. She nudged against Nova's leg, licking her hand and generally acting pathetically.
"Shut up, Lina" Nova hissed, pushing the dog's head down with a hand. "I'm not even sure if you're allowed in here, and I don't want to have to tie you upoutside!"Nova watched the new arrival with some interest; a bit centaur - she was sure. She liked centaurs; uncomplicated creatures, although a bugger to get out of the house.

MoonRazor

Karyon's head jerked up with a snarl at the sound of a whimper. His head swung around, catching sight of the wolfhound, bloodred eyes narrowing. A dog... He hated dogs.

"Be quiet, Kar." Sheva snapped with a growl. Karyon went and leaned against the counter, and she half smiled. "There you go..."

SS Nova

If you hadn't known better, you could have sworn the grey wolfhound was snickering. Nova nudged her with a toe, muttering dire threats.

MoonRazor
"Sorry about him, miss." Dekko apologized for the black werewolf, turning around gently, so as not to throw Sheva off his back. "You have a pretty dog." He added, looking down at the wolfhound. "Are you in here for the same reason everyone else is?" He asked with a smile. Of course, he was Dekko, so he was always smiling.

Nurse Faithful

Seakin looks over at the lady with the wolfhound beside her. He wasn't bothered by the fact that the creature was in the clinic, nor with the fact that there was something that looked and smelled a little like blood to him on her dress. He smiles softly, "Miss, you can come over now." he nods gently.

SS Nova
Nova inclined her head to Dekko, then made her way over to Seakin, tugging the reluctant wolf hound behind her by means of the piece of string. She smiled at him, holding her hands behind her back.
"Thankyou. I believe I have an appointment...?"

Nurse Faithful
Seakin nods and clicks something on his computer, "Name please."

SS Nova
"Nova Shining" she said softly, stepping on Lina's paw as she tried to scoot away.

Nurse Faithful
Seakin types that in and grins as her file pops up. "Here we go. You do in fact have an appointmant Miss Nova." He looks up, "If you'd wait just a moment longer, Doctor Kana will be able to see you." he nods and picks a pamplet up, handing it to her along with a clipboard. "You can flip through this to learn more about us and I'll need you to fill out this consent form."

SS Nova
"Thankyou very much" she inclined her head as was her habit, turning away from the desk. She tugged Lina behind her to sit again on the chair, going carefully over the consent form. In her long association with Assael, she had learnt to check all legal documents very carefully. Eventually, she pulled a pen from the pocket of her russet coat, signing with a flourish. She had read the pamphlet a while ago, before she came here - the idea had appealed to her.

Nurse Faithful
Kilikana steps out of the hallway to the right and smiles, looking at his father at the desk. "Anyone to see?"

Seakin Sr. nods. "Yes, Miss Nova Shining."

Kana nods g, Nova?"

SS Nova
She got to her feet, giving Lina a sharp reprimand to 'stay, or else!', then walked over to the desk, hands shoved in the pocket of her coat.

Nurse Faithful
Kana smiles and turns to head back down the hallway, "Follw me please."

Seakin Sr. takes the clipboard from Nova, smiling gently. "Thank you."

SS Nova
Nova started, then smiled shyly, not being used to this sort of situation - she was rather more used to 'damage limitation' in the midst of her family. She ducked her head, then wandered after Kana, glancing around.

Nurse Faithful
Kana steps next to an empty examination room, "After you." he nods polietly.

SS Nova
"Thankyou" she said softly; a rather unusual state for her. As previously stated, she was in a new enviroment, and didn't know how to react. She walked into the room, looking around curiously.

Nurse Faithful
The doctor walks in after, "Your welcome." he smiles softly and shuts the door gently, walking over to the computer desk. "Alright, your here because you are already pregnant, or wanting children. Which is it?" he asks curiously, picking up a clipboard and smiling at her gently.

SS Nova
"I wanted another child" she grinned, running a hand through her hair nervously. She would have added the 'and this time, not having a half-demon would be good', but decided that it wasn't a good idea.

Nurse Faithful
Kana nods, writes something down. "Alright. You have a choice of vials. Since you know what exactly we do here this is a lot easier." he nods, "Along what lines were you thinking of getting?"

SS Nova
"I wasn't sure... I think I'd probably like mint essence, though...?" she asked, watching him. Her hands were -still- jammed in her pockets; they might never be removed.

Nurse Faithful
"Hmm. Well, we have the mint essense. Licenziare mentioned that he'd got it done when he'd gotten the Ball Python soul." he looks at her curiously, "Does that sound fine?"

SS Nova
Ball python...? Well, they were pretty enough, and she didn't anticipate any major issues with stairs and so forth is s/he ended up without legs - and scales were fun. It wasn't as bad as babying a certain nymph who didn't believe she could survive out of water (so what was with the wheelbarrow then?).
"I think... that would be nice" she grinned crookedly,

Nurse Faithful
"Alright then. There are two ways you can get pregnant now, either Izzi or Licenziare will put a very simple life spell into your stomach, or we can take you into another room specialized for just the certain thing, and put the cells into you. Your call. Though the spell has a higher chance of working a lot faster, seeing as the baby starts growing as soon as the spell is in place."

SS Nova
"I think I'd prefer the spell, thankyou" Other then ewww, what could she say? Little as she liked magic being cast on/in her, the other idea was just gross. If she had wanted a baby that way, she would have found herself a tasty hiker.

Nurse Faithful
"Very well. If you'll just sit here for a moment I'll fetch one of the Magicians." he slips out of the room and sees who he can find first.

A few moments later a polite knock sounded on the door.

SS Nova
Nova, in the meantime, had found herself a seat on the examination table, swinging her legs happily.
"Come in"

Nurse Faithful
A young male enters, smiling at her, "Hi, I'm Licenziare. I'll be taking care of the spell for you."

SS Nova
"Pleased to meet you" she jumped to her feet, holding out a hand. "I'm assuming you know my name...?"

Nurse Faithful
Licen shakes her hand, a sweet smile on his face, "Of course. This spell will take only a moment then you can be off." he nods and motions for her to sit on the bed again, "If you please?"

SS Nova
"Alright" She hopped back up onto the bed, again, smoothing down her skirt absently.

Nurse Faithful
Licenziare steps up to her, holding his hand out above her stomach as his eyes take on a strange golden color. After a moment he moves his hand away smiling happily, "All set. We'll need you to come back in about a week for a check up." he nods.

SS Nova
"Alright then" she smiled gratefully, hopping down. 'Thankyou very much"

[Fifth August]

[Socialisn' with the other parents...? Oh dear]

SS Nova
Her appointment over, Nova wandered out of the clinic, and -apparently- into the middle of a war zone. Dragons and all.
Was it just her, or was that an angel? Oh dear... they tended, in her experience (and she had known one or two, not counting Dua, who was just nuisance on two legs and a pair of wings), to be a. rather stubborn, and b. rather righteous. Whatever was going on, it would be far better to wait it out, rather then try to intervene - as well as considering the fact that she *burnt* rather easily. As in caught on fire. She was rather fond of angels - mostly on prettiful grounds, but they tended to irritate her at times.
The dryad ducked into a nearby cafe, tugged by Lina, who was rather partial to coffee and not at all fond of dragons.

Tao Orii
Orous shot his head towards the newcomer in the cafe, cocking his head when he heard two heartbeats; niether human. With a wave of his white-gloved hand, he invited them over. Wondering what he was missing outside.

SS Nova

A vampire...? Ai, what did he want with her, and why had he bothered to come out in daylight? The dryad knew little of vampires, having never in her eight hundred odd years had reason to deal with them. Gargoyles and incubi, yes - but never an actual vampire. They say curiosity killed the cat - but satisfaction brought him back. With a sigh, she pulled Lina over to his table, pulling one of the ornate wooden chairs out, and sitting on it, legs and arms crossed.

Tao Orii
The vampire gave a slight chuckle. "Don't worry, I don't bite." At least, I don't bite whatever she is. "I just want to hear news of outside. It's almost torture, hearing all these noises and not knowing what's going on..."

SS Nova
"There appears to be a dragon, an unconcious woman, and an angel yelling at them both" Nova said, peering out of the window, one foot firmly on Lina's nose as she attempted to chew the tableleg. She would have to remind herself to make Fedh take her with him on his little trips; the poor dog must be hypered out of her mind. "I'm guessing the dragon is trying to eat the angel or the woman - it'll have terrible digestion problems, they always do... it'd be far better off with a nice pile of coal"

Tao Orii
The cloaked figure didn't move. At least, that one could see. Inside he was running around screaming his head off, tearing off his hair, and passing out only to repeat the cycle. But that was his inner self. His outer self was calm and collected. "Hmm...what did the women and the dragon look like?" Please, let her say something like blue or green or yellow...

SS Nova
"Orange. But the angel and the dragon are gone now..." Nova had been watching the whole confrontation with interest. "And the woman's acquired wings. Wonderful. I'm going to go drag her out of the road, okay?" she pushed her chair back; Lina scrambled up joyfully, hitting her head on the table on the way up.

Tao Orii
The cloaked vampire stood up immedietly. "You're sure? There is only the women," he'd never thought he'd refer to Drana as a women, it would have amused him if he wasn't so worried, "left? Only her?"

SS Nova
Nova glanced out of the window again, surmising that they were (duh), connected. "Yeah" she said quietly, tugging Lina to heel. "I'm going now, kay?"

Tao Orii
Surprisingly, the cloaked figure was already in front of the body, running a hand down the spine. The hand moved up the neck to the jawbone, turning it this way and that.

SS Nova
Nyah. She knew vampires were fast, but she was impressed. Pushing the door open, she paused to tie Lina to a lamppost, before crossing over to the pair. Placing a hand on Orous' shoulder, she leaned forwards.
"I have some smelling salts on me, if you believe they would be of any use"

Cerlyn-Ama
The figure paused. "Smelling salts? What are those?" He had never heard of them. "I believe it would be easier to take her home unconsious, however..."

SS Nova
"Oh, they're little bottles of chemical salts that smell absolutely awful. Somebody I know makes them - literally, they'll raise the dead" she wasn't exaggerating, either - the somebody was a young necromancer she knew. "But I can see how it might be"

Cerlyn-Ama
Orous nodded. "Tell me...is it still sunny out, or is there cloud-coverage now?" If it was sunny, he might have to use the salts...which Drana would hate.

SS Nova
The dryad withdrew her hand, looking up slowly."Storm moving in from the east, I think... but still relatively sunny here. I'm guessing the storm'll be about half an hour"

Cerlyn-Ama
"Really?" He worked on a plan in his head. "So...you have any plans for the next 30 minutes?" The smelling salts probably wouldn't work, simply because she collasped of energy-loss. "She will probably be out for at least two hours.""

SS Nova
"Not really..." Nova said slowly, considering this. She didn't have any pressing obligations at home - Myrrh was in charge, and between him and Sakura, the situation would probably be under control. At least, as much as it ever was. But with a paddock full of unicorns and a ghoul in the attic, what do you expect?

[Lilith's journal]

Mama is to have another child. It is DISGUSTING! How COULD SHE?! Ugh. I suppose there is no stopping her now she has her mind set on it, and she's actually pregnant now - I saw her preparing ginger tea this morning. Typical.
But HOW COULD SHE?! Papa is still in a mood with me for taking Xue home with me (he's my son, for chrissake!), and I'm sure he's not so morally that he wouldn't try to hurt mama or one of the adopted children to make his point with me. She needs to be concentrating on keeping them safe, not making ginger tea and painting the spare room! Couldn't her impulses choose a better moment?
Maybe I could slip some of the herbs she has for the village women on the high shelf into her tea... although if she aborted her child, she'd be sure to blame me -sigh-. It would be so much easier if I just got rid of it. I mean, it's not technically my half-brother/sister, yet...
But if Mama traced it back to me, she'd probably turn me out of the house, no matter what Papa would do to me. She wouldn't turn out Xue, I think, but who knows? She can get awfully broody.
I'll wait for an opportunity. If I can get one in the next two months or so, then I'll get rid of that little problem. If not, I guess I'll have to put up with it - after another two months, I might damage Mama, and that would never do.

[Check-up]

SS Nova
The Great Day of the checkup dawned; Nova had organised it well, drafting in Myrrh the previous evening to keep an eye on her house whilst she was gone - not to mention feeding all the animals and so forth. The dryad left it at eight am exactly, starting up a rusty old car with difficulty (it required a lot of pushing, shouting, and other such things) - she had also planned for this delay. She arrived at the clinic at ten twenty, a full ten minutes before her appointment - after all, it wouldn't do to be late.

Nurse Faithful
Seakin Sr. was lounging in the desk chair, nibbling on some pocky while he stared at the computer screen curiously. He blinks when Nova enters the clinic, grinning, "Hello again Miss Nova. Right on time for your check up." he nods and turns his head to the side, where Kana sat in the chair next to him.

"Got it pops." the younger merman chuckles and stands up, picking a file up from the desk with Nova's name on it. "This way please Miss Nova." he heads down one of the hallways again, glancing behind to make sure she was coming with him.

SS Nova
"Good morning" she said cheerfully, nodding her head to him before following Kana.

Nurse Faithful
Seakin smiles and gives a little salute to Nova, still nibbling on the pocky stick.

Kana chuckles and shakes his head, stepping into a room and waving inside. "Right in here Miss Nova."

SS Nova
Nova giggled, then straightened her face with some effort, following him into the room.

Nurse Faithful
Kana shuts the door after Nova walks in, following her before shutting it. "Sorry about that. Pops is still excited about my son." He chuckles softly and sets the file on the desk in the room, "Go ahead and hop up on that bed and we'll do a quick examination of your health."

SS Nova
"Your son...?" she asked, curious, pulling herself up onto the bed.

Nurse Faithful
"Yes, Thomas." he smiles and leans against the desk, "Thomas was created in the lab here. I mixed my dna along with one of our donors when I started, I had no idea I'd come to fall for the other father of my son." he smiles and shakes his head. "Whenever you come for your check up, my mate and son will more than likely be around." he glances at the watch around his wrist, "In fact, thier supposed to be here soon. You can meet little Tommy when your appointmant is done if you wish."

SS Nova
"That would be lovely - I must admit, it sounds straight out of a chic-lit novel, though!" she laughed, nodding. "I'm sure he's sweet"

Nurse Faithful
The doctor laughs also, nodding. "It kinda does." he smiles, picking up the stethascope and pushing away from the desk. "Alrighty, lets get this done with and then I'll have Licen come in." he nods and gently presses the metal against her back. "Breathe in."

SS Nova
She nodded, biting her lip - she was more sensitive to cold then she liked to admit sometimes. Taking a little breath, she forced herself to calm down.

Nurse Faithful
He finishes the basics and scribbles something down onto the file. "Alright. I'll go get Licen now." he nods and steps out of the room, shutting the door on his way out.

A few moments later a knock sounded on the door.

SS Nova
"Hello?" she hopped down from the table, leaning against it casually. To tell the truth, she wasn't much used to dealing with other's families - just teasing Blade's various alter-egos, and maybe dealing with the odd Satyr. Although since she was an oread, they were technically related...

Nurse Faithful
Licenziare pops his head in through the door, smiling. "Hello." he steps in all the way, shutting the door behind him, holding his hand out to her. "I'm Licen. Nice to meet you Miss Nova." he nods.

SS Nova
"G'morning" she inclined her head politely, smiling. "I'm pleased to meet'chu too"

Nurse Faithful
Licen continues to smile, leaning against the desk almost exactly as Kana had done. "Well, this check up shall take just a moment. If you want, I'll be able to tell the gender of the child for you." he nods.

[February 23rd]

"Oh for -" Nova let out a little groan, attempting to ignore the ring at the doorbell. She was tired, she was achy, and right now - right now, she wanted someone else to open the bloody door. Dragging herself to her feet, she aimed a vengeful kick at the sofa on her way past. Opening the door, she was confronted with - "Assael. How lovely to see you. I'd ask you to come in, but it's a mess, and I don't really want you in my house anyway" The smell of brimstone drifted into the house, and under the table in the kitchen, and Lina whimpered and looked for someone to hide behind. The demon was a inhumanly tall young man, with an athletic build, and slitted grey eyes and shoulder length jet black hair - not to mention the horns, tail, and hooves. They were rather magnificent horns, to tell the truth.
The demon inclined his head, smiling. "What a lovely greeting, sweetheart. I came to pick up Xue...?"
"Oh for - I thought we'd agreed this. You are *not* seeing your grandson untill he is physically and magickally developed to cope with the various monsters you collect!"
"Well, that is a shame" his eyes alighted on her stomach for a second - wearing a crop top was not a particularly good idea, Nova thought ruefully. Well, he had to find out sooner or later - and at seven months, she was definetly showing. "Are you sure I can't come in?" he leaned forward, kissing the tip of her nose.
"Assael!" Nova snapped, pulling away, then softened. "All right. But any funny buisness and you're out of here"
The demon nodded, the corners of his eyes crinkling up - it made him look a lot older then his twenty year old (or so) body, then stepped over the threshold, wrapping his arms around her. Nova let out a little sigh, leaning into him for a second - she had forgotten how nice he could be when he felt like it. "Come on; I'll make you a cup of tea" she said quietly, pulling away and walking into the kitchen.

[February 24th]

"Mrrr?" The cat purred, rubbing against Nova's hand. To tell the truth, she wasn't too happy with Assael's 'baby-gift'; although he had promised that the cat would be there to protect the baby once it was born - it would be bound to the baby with a couple of drops of blood. The small grey kitten was possessed of eight red demon-like eyes, and a pair of tiny bat-like wings; she had a suspicion that it would grow much - much - bigger. How wonderful; still, it would be problematic at the least to return it. The kitten curled up on Nova's stomach and yawned, showing tiny pearly teeth - already, as she had found, razor-sharp. It had been a mistake to attempt to check the little monster's sex.

[March 3rd]

"Good morrrnning~!"
"Nuuu, go 'way!"
"Up, up, up! 'tis a fine Monday morning, and you be off to school!"
"Arghh nuuuu lemme lone"
"Sakura, up!" Nova jerked the covers off the teenager's bed with a flourish.
"Arghhhnuuucoldlemmelonearghhhh"
Triumphant, Nova flounced from the room, having dumped the covers on the bedroom floor, to go feed the animals. She left the heaviest work to her 'little helper', Myrrh - he had to be the most helpful of her children. The young woman hummed to herself, hurrying down to the stables.
Currently stabled was: a unicorn, several small dragons (the larger being incapable of fitting in the stable), and what was quite possibly a manticore, but she wasn't sure about that. The dryad took her time feeding them, before checking the unicorn's fetlocks - the creature had some sort of strain on them, which she had placed a poultice on to prevent swelling. Life was - at the moment - pretty idyllic. She would finish feeding the animals, and then go back to the house, feed the cats and dogs, then hopefully sit down to breakfast; it was Sakura's turn to cook.

[The ceremony; a disaster]

SS Nova
Half-past eleven

All was prepared; all that remained was for the guests to arrive. Most of them hadn't seen Nova's new baby yet - what with the fact that he was a Naga and all, she had decided to leave that part out, considering it might lead to awkward questions.
Good-good.
Macy had been tucked up in a tiny cradle underneath the Tree, which was waiting for the ceremony to begin. Myrrh was supposed to be handling the catering (which she had some doubts about, to tell the truth), and everything was... dealt with. Readyreadyready. Now they just needed the guests.
With a little sigh, she sat down under the wide tree, next to the cradle. She had recovered relatively quickly from the pregnancy; it had never been a problem for her, considering she had trekked almost fifty miles a few weeks after Lilith was born. Where was the demon, anyway...?

Blade Kuroda
After glancing down at a semi-crumpled piece of paper to make sure he was at the right place, Blade let out a sigh beofre walking towards the tree. He felt a little awkward being here, but that was probably because he wasn't entirely sure what to expect of all of this. Aside from that matter, he also wasn't the best with kids.

He then scanned the area quickly, to see if anyone was around. And he soon saw a familiar figure further ahead by the tree, with what looked like a cradle.

Guess no one else is here yet, he thought to himself as he continued to approach.

SS Nova
"Blade!" Nova bounced to her feet, smiling, rocking slightly on the balls of her feet. She hurried forwards, stopping just short of him. "I'm glad you could make it!"

Blade Kuroda
Seeing Nova approach, Blade grinned and nodded. His eyes shifted over towards the cradle for a moment before he looked back at her.

"Heh, no problem. So I take it the little guy's over there?"

SS Nova
"Yep!" she grinned, nodding her head. "He's gorgeous - wait till you see him!"

As if on cue, a wail was set up from the crib; she turned, hurrying back to it.

Blade Kuroda
Chuckling to himself, he followed Nova over by the crib so that he could see her newborn child. As he reached it, he peeked into the cradle to see the baby. Grinning as he did, he then glanced back at the mother.

"Heh, I bet you're real proud right now."

SS Nova
"Indeed; passing on your genes does tend to give you a little rush" she laughed, lifting the child from the cradle, soothing it expertly. "How've you been? It feels like we haven't talked in years"

Blade Kuroda
It was still a bit weird to think that a naga came out of a dryad, but stranger things had happened before. At Nova's question, Blade shrugged slightly and glanced off to the side.

"Ah, I'm alright. Haven't gotten myself killed yet as you can see. Though I guess you could say that things have been going a little slowly. And how about you? Aside from having a child and all."

SS Nova
"I've been pretty good, really. Not much has been happening, 'cept that having babies actually gives me some boobs" she jiggled Macy expertly, before putting him back in the crib. "...and what d'you mean, 'not killed yet?" She looked slightly concerned - maternal instincts, after all, were at their height.

Blade Kuroda
Rubbing the back of his neck, Blade gave a nervous chuckle before speaking up again.

"Well.. you know how I am. Trouble kinda likes to pick on me somewhat. Er... I kinda went beserk about a week ago and almost ended up getting killed by the ones who were trying to stop me."

SS Nova
She pursed her lips, tapping fingers on her hip. "May I ask why, and if t'would be a good idea to prepare for future incidents?" She really, she felt, keep a better eye on him - how many times had she saved him from near death? True, the second had been kinda her fault - where was Chai'myrra anyway...?

Blade Kuroda
"Maybe. I'm not really sure why it happened. I just... lost it and started to attack everyone. If one of the people I attacked hadn't had phoenix dna injected into her, I would have killed her... twice.."

It was fairly obvious that he wasn't too comfortable about that whole ordeal.

SS Nova
"I... see." Come to think of it, beyond a few surface facts, she really didn't know that much about him. She decided it might be a good idea to bring up a different topic - he seemed pretty uncomfortable. "How was your All Hallows?"

Blade Kuroda
"Er... that was the day I went beserk..."

Blade definitely wasn't proud of the fact he nearly killed several people for no reason, so he was avoiding Nova's gaze at the moment. He just stared at the ground while stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"How... was yours?"

SS Nova
"It was pretty fun, really; I went to the party at Gambino's mansion, but aliens gatecrashed it, so I left pretty early, and went to a party in Commerce instead" She gave a little nod, leaning back against the Oak.

Blade Kuroda
"Oh yeah, I stopped by there for a while.. after I was sane again," he said with a slight nod. Then shaking his head to himself, he sighed and looked back at Nova and her son.

SS Nova
"What did you think of it?" Nova asked, yawning; Macy had woken her up at three am the previous night, and not dropped off again for quite a while. Her only satisfaction was that he'd woken up everyone else as well.

Blade Kuroda
Blade hesitated a moment, not really sure what to say exactly.

"It was.. alright. I had some fun frying aliens... but er... that probe really is something..."

SS Nova
She snorted, evidently having to resist the urge to laugh outright at him. Oh dear!

"I see"

Blade Kuroda
Blade twitched slightly as he caught that snort. Scoffing a little, he shook his head and retorted.

"What. I'm sure you didn't escape that stupid thing."

Blade Kuroda
That was a little more information than he wanted to know. So Blade sort of blinked and stared at Nova for a moment before shaking his head to rid himself of such thoughts. He had no clue to what Assael looked like, but he imagined that getting 'probed' by him really wouldn't be a very... pleasant experience.

"Ah sure, if you say so."

SS Nova
She snorted, then burst into outright laughter, unable to help herself. Nova slid down the tree, laughing helplessly.
"Blade, you're such an innocent! Your face! Your face!"

Blade Kuroda
Now frowning, Blade muttered something under his breath before cross his arms.

"What? It's not like I want to be probed by anyone," he said with a slight twitch.

SS Nova
Nova continued to laugh, stuffing her fist into her mouth to attempt to stop herself.

Blade Kuroda
Shaking his head, Blade mumbled a few other things under his breath as he pushed aside some of his hair. Twitching a little still, he just glanced off to the side, scoffing a bit while he was at it.

SS Nova
"Anyway..." Nova cleared her face with some difficulty, standing up. "I have a suspicion the aforementioned demon might turn up, jus' to warn you - whether he has an invitation or not"

Blade Kuroda
"Oh boy. That'll be fun."

Shaking his head to himself, he wondered if that demon really would show up. It'd be the first time he'd see him, and he wasn't entirely sure what to expect if he did show up.

SS Nova

"You could say that" she nodded, smiling, then looked up at the sun. "Twenty minutes to go; I do hope you won't be the only one to show. It would be most embarassing" a slight frown crossed her face, before she shrugged it away.

[The ceremony; part two]

Blade Kuroda
Glancing over at the direction of the sun, Blade sighed and nodded. He had caught that brief frown of Nova's, so he gave her a small pat on the shoulder.

"Well, at least no one showed up at all."

SS Nova
"I guess. Doesn't augur well for Macy's life though, if there's practically no-one but family to see it" She pulled a face, glancing at the bundle in the cradle - now, mercifully, asleep.

Blade Kuroda
"Ah..."

Blade wasn't entirely sure what Nova meant by that. Did the amount of people who showed up for this event really make that much of a difference for the child's life?

SS Nova
"Mmm, well..." Nova let out a little sigh, then smiled. "Read any good books lately?"

Blade Kuroda
Raising an eyebrow momentarily, Blade shook his head to himself before glancing over at the horizon once more. Then as a response to Nova's question, he shook his head again.

"Nope. Haven't really had much of a chance to read anything really."

SS Nova
"Oh, alright" she smiled, the corners of her eyes crinkling up in a way which made her seem a lot older. "Alright then, your turn to try and make conversation!"

Blade Kuroda
Blade didn't really know what to say or ask, so there was a bit of silence before he finally spoke up. Letting out a sigh, he shrugged and asked, "Um... How's the rest of your family doing?"

SS Nova
"Mm. Surprisingly, no major traumas have happened recently" she laughed. "I'm not sure why - maybe they're all saving it up from when I'm utterly exhausted with Macy!"

Blade Kuroda
"Well.. that's kinda a good thing. Well, at least the whole no trauma part."

Nodding, he quickly glanced around to see if anyone was headed this way, but it seemed that wasn't the case.

Blade Kuroda
A small sigh escaped his lips as he glanced around the area once more. For now, he had run out of things to say, so he kept silent at the time being. He glanced into the crib once or twice to look at the newborn, but other than that, he really didn't do much.

SS Nova
Nova looked like she was about to say something, then straightened up. Aww, bugger it; it looked like her prediction had been correct. Wonderful.
"Nova - darling!"
"Assael, you were *not* invited, and you are most definitly not welcome"
"Now, Nova - is that any way to greet an old lover?"
"That is an exaggeration, and you know it!" she snapped at the young man who had just appeared in a puff of smoke.
"Awww, Nova..." he whined, leaning forwards. "Am I not allowed to come visit my family now and then?" He appeared to be entirely ignoring Blade - at least, for now.

Blade Kuroda
Hearing a rather unfamiliar voice, Blade glanced around until he saw a tall demon nearby. Raising an eyebrow, he tensed up slightly as Nova referred to him as "Assael." His impressions of the guy, from what he was told and such, were that the demon really wasn't really 'fun' to be around.

Though, he had to admit that he thought he would look a little more like a Balrog or something along those lines. Then again, maybe that's who he truely appeared.

Shaking his head from the mild shock he was in, he just frowned at Assael and sighed.

"Well, you did wish that more people would show up," he mumbled.

SS Nova
"Indeed" Nova bit her lip - Goddess guard her against more such unguarded words! She nodded slowly, thinking more quickly then she seemed to usually. "Assael, why don't you go and talk to Lilith? I'm sure you'd like to hear how your grandson is - especially as -this- baby is no relation to you, yes?"" Taking him gently by the shoulders, she turned him around, giving him a little push in the direction of the house. He protested, turning himself back around.
"much as I love my daughter, we have urgent matters to discuss, love. May we discuss them away from these... mortals... you like to surround yourself with?" this with a rather disgusted look at Blade; one could call him naught but a slob.

Blade Kuroda
At first, Blade just glanced back and forth between the dryad and the demon, but that last comment Assael made, caused him to stare directly at him. Frowning, he narrowed his eyes slightly, not exactly liking how he was being looked down upon. As a thief, that was something that came every now and then, but this just felt a little different.

"When you're on the mortal world, you're bound to be around mortals. So deal with it."

SS Nova
"Excuse me" the demon nodded his head politely to Nova, then turned to Blade, eyes narrowing. "Would you care to repeat that?" his voice was perfectly calm and polite, but with an edge of malice.
Nova let out a little muttered curse; if this was going to end up in a fight - which would be a pain - she was going to have to take Measures.

Blade Kuroda
Though he knew that Assael could very much possibly strike him down and kill him with relative ease, Blade wasn't at all that intimidated by him. Gazing up at the taller being calmly, he repeated what he said in a 'matter of fact' way.

"I said, when you're on the mortal world, you're bound to be around mortals. So deal with it."

SS Nova
Nova put a hand over her face, then grabbed the rapidly purpling demons' arm, pulling him to her.
"Assael, why don't we go and discuss the matter?" she asked, even the tall dryad forced to look upwards, then glancing at Blade with a glare.
He glanced down at her, lips pursed, then pushed her away; she landed awkwardly, caught off balance. Assael glanced down at her carelessly, then turned his attention back to Blade.
"This is exactly what I hate about the mortal planes" he narrowed his eyes, smoke curling from between his thin lips.

Blade Kuroda
This wasn't going very well, and Blade knew he was probably digging himself a fairly decent grave at this point. Still, he kept cool for now. After glancing over at Nova with a bit of an apologetic look, he then glanced to the crib where Macy was. From there, he brought his gaze back to the fuming demon.

"Calm down. It wouldn't look good for a high and mighty demon to be so easily upset by a mere mortal. Besides, you'd better stay in check if you don't want to upset the baby."

SS Nova
Macy was observing the scene with remarkably clear and cool eyes, for such a young child. He didn't seem to mind what was going on at all, in fact.

"Baby be damned" Assael rolled his dark eyes, snorting. "Now get out, before I am forced to... ah, what is the term...? Excorsise? I find it such a trial keeping up with dialects"

"Will you stop it, both of you!" Nova snapped, getting slowly to her feet. "This is supposed to be a celebration, and what sort of start is it for my son if one or both of you are killed at his Greeting Ceremony?!"

Blade Kuroda
"I think you're a little confus--"

Cut off by Nova, Blade looked over at her for a moment, and stepped back. His dark red eyes seemed to glimmer briefly as he gazed at the other three in the area.

"I've been to the abyss and back. I'm sure I'm due for a second visit sometime soon anyway."

After shooting a harsh glare at Assael, his eyes softened as he looked back at Nova.

"I'm sorry that this had to happen at Macy's ceremony. If there's anything I can do to try and make it up to you, just let me know. For now, I'll just take my leave."

SS Nova
"Please - you don't have to leave" Nova said firmly. "You are invited - whereas *he* isn't" She shot a fierce glance at Assael, who blinked.
"Nova, I -"
"Assael, whatever your latest paramour has done, you cannot come here just to pick fights with my friends. You will treat them with respect, even if they are mortal!" she snapped, standing quite upright. "Do you understand me?"
Assael recoiled as if he had stepped on a snake, then regained his cool. "Nova, I came here to discuss our grandson, not your... child... nor to pick a fight"
"There is absolutely nothing to discuss!"

Blade Kuroda
As the two spoke, Blade watched and listened silently. With the way they acted towards eachother, he wondered how it was ever possible that the two had fallen in love at one point in time... if that was what brought them together in the first place.

"You'd best try again another time Assael."

SS Nova
The demon glared at him, but was restricted by Nova.
"If that's the way you want it, love" He looked down at her, raising an eyebrow at her. She half-smiled, wrapping her arms around him.
"Good demon. You will get a cookie! I always said you were trainable" she laughed, then snuggled against him as he stroked her hair; the whole mood of the conversation changing in a few seconds.

Blade Kuroda
Blade just stared at the two for a moment, confused at what was going on now. Then shaking his head, he just let out a small sigh and glanced down at the child in the crib for a second.

"Love is so... troublesome," he mumbled to himself.

SS Nova
"Urble" the baby commented on this fascinating philosophical discussion, blowing a spit-bubble.

"Hmmm... anyway, you go be civil to your daughter, and I might condescend to let you snack on the delectable treats Myrrh has prepared" Nova commented, giving Assael a little push in the direction of the house, smiling. He wandered off, hands in his pockets, whistling cheerfully.

Blade Kuroda
"What was that all about?"

Shaking his head to himself, Blade glanced over at the horizon once more. He then walked over towards the tree in the area and leaned against that for the time being.

SS Nova
"It's complicated" she half-smiled, watching Assael go. "There's five-hundred odd years of history between us, ne?" She ran a hand through her longish hair, eyebrows raised.

Blade Kuroda
Raising an eyebrow, Blade just shook his head to himself. No sense in trying to figure out how this was working.

"Five-hundred years? Dang."

SS Nova
"Indeed" she raised her eyes, looking at the sky. "I'd say about ten minutes to midday"

[the ceremony; part three]

Blade Kuroda
Stretching a little, Blade shifted his weight slightly as he continued to lean against the tree. After thinking about something for a bit, he glanced over at Nova.

"You know, Assael kinda has a point. Why exactly do you hang around mortals? I mean... you're gonna outlive any of us big time."

SS Nova
"Because immortals are boring" she wrinkled her nose, thinking how to phrase it. "We'll live forever - or close enough - and there's... ah, how should I put it?" she chewed her lip for a second. "Look at it like this: I'm close enough to being immortal for other immortals to be boring. We tend to get stuck in our ways, and we don't change - and the politics! Feuds thousands of years old, and the power games, but they don't mean anything like they do for mortals. They're just something to pass the time. Mortals are more interesting - dynamic. You lot can create, whilst we can just repeat. The greatest composer, if they were made immortal, would lose all their flair - all that made them great, because it's that fragility that creates art, yes? I love that - you're all so much more alive then I will ever - can ever - be"

Blade Kuroda
Nova's answer had caught him off guard. It certainly wasn't something he had expected to come out of an immortal, since his experience with them were a little more like how Assael thought. That because they were so fragile, that they were much lower than them.

But he understood what the dryad was saying.

"Do.. you wish you were a mortal?"

SS Nova
"It would be an awful shock. I don't really notice the passing of the years, you see - and suddenly only having a few left would be enough to drive me insane, I think" she laughed, rubbing the back of her neck.

Blade Kuroda
Chuckling somewhat, Blade glanced up at the sky somewhat and sighed.

"Heh.. yeah. Even if I do live to be an old man, the span of my life must seem to be nothing but a short speck to you."

SS Nova
"80 years?" She laughed, "That's forever, sometimes. By then maybe I'll have a proper full-blood child, rather then raising a clutch of half-breeds" It was true that maybe his life wasn't that long compared to hers - she had heard it was the reason that elves kept themselves to themselves, because they simply couldn't bear the pain - but it was something she lived with. She had lost quite a few friends - most of them dead now - because they couldn't accept that she'd still be just as young and beautiful when they were old and wrinkled.

Blade Kuroda
"Eighty years if I keep managing to escape death."

Thinking about her comment on having a full-blooded child for a moment, Blade realized that he hadn't seen a male dryad before. Then again, he hadn't seen that many dryads before, but that was beside point.

Blade Kuroda
"Ha. Ha."

Shaking his head to himself, he just let out a small sigh and thought, Like I said earlier, I'm probably due for another visit to the afterlife in the near future...

SS Nova
She raised a delicate eyebrow, tapping her fingers on her hips.
"Now, tell me; what was all that about already having been to hell once?"

SS Nova
"I see. For how long?" she certainly took it very calmly - rather as if she had this sort of thing announced to her every day. Which she might, for all you know.

Blade Kuroda
Thinking back, he tried to remember how long he was gone.

"Not too long. About two weeks.. And a good portion of that was just me still here, only as a ghost. A sorceress brought me back to life. Though I haven't really figured out why. She kinda disappeared soon after I came back. But.. not everything is the same."

Blade Kuroda
Again, he had to take a moment to remember the time span.

"Ah... maybe about a year and a half ago? Why?"

SS Nova
"That would have been..." she considered for a second. "Lets see, Fedh lost his soul about eight months ago, Kelly would have been attacked eight and a half... ah, the dragonlings hatched about a year ago, and then the unicorn foaled around three months before then, which would have made it around the time Marrissa got married. I don't really remember any change, sorry"

Blade Kuroda
Blinking, Blade still wondered why she had wanted to know when he had died and such.

"Er... why did you want to know?"

SS Nova
"Well, you said something had changed - I was trying to work out what it was" she laughed, glancing at the sky again. "Five minutes; excuse me, I'd better go mobilise the family"

SS Nova
"Yes, I realised that" she commented over her shoulder, hurrying away.

Blade Kuroda
Letting out a sigh, he nodded again and let his head drop for now. As far as he knew, the biggest if not only change that had happened was a newfound 'allergy' he has had since then.

SS Nova
The small crowd which Nova referred to as her 'family' gradually grew up around the tree, chattering happily; Nova reappeared just as the sun was about to rise to it's zenith.

Blade Kuroda
Hearing some people come near, Blade glanced around to see the small crowd of people gather around the tree and cradle. Blinking at them all, he moved away from the tree and waited silently to see what was going to happen from there.

SS Nova
The solemn ceremony took about five minutes, in utter silence. First Nova cut open her hand, leaving her bloody handprint on the tree, then did the same - ever so carefully - to Macy, so that he left his own handprint on the tree. The naga child didn't cry, viewing the proceedings with a certain dignity beyond his years.
And that was pretty much it; the crowd disintegrated, chattering, to go and eat the special lunch, and Nova carefully bandaged first Macy's and then her own hand.
