Everyone gets injured at our band camp...

Last year, we were on a mini-field trip, and this kid got nailed by a go-kart. He shattered his arm and plates and screws in it.

This year, one of our clarinets tore a bunch of tendons and fractured her ankle whilst playing Gatorade ball. Two days later, our baritone, broke his ankle playing football after practice. And our snare might not be able to play because of tendonitis.

I fall all the time, but it's on purpose.

{I can't march at all this year now. I've been to my doctor's and he told me that. I literally cried for two hours solid.
They're gunna leave me in a wheelchair by the pit.

I have never gotten a band camp injury. Most of my injuries occure during october. I just get sore from band camp. Very sore.

Every year at least 3 people sprain an ankle, the was once a pelvic injury, knee injuries, and of course knicks a bruises. Last year a lot of people have to get treated because there was an excess of bees and other stingers at band camp and they loved to sting.

I wasn't injured, but I have a huge knot in my right shoulder that no one can get out and whenever I start playing and marching my neck gets really thight and hurts.

The past two years there have been no hospital trips during band camp, though I did accidently knock two people over while marching backwards. redface

My sophmore year I did somethign to my knee. I think I just hyper-extended a tendon or something, btu I was on cruches for a week and couldn't march. gonk

We've got this girl in my band who, I swear, is a freakin' hypocondriac (sp?) Right now she was recently diagnosed with asthma (which I'm not doubting), btu she can't do anythign because of it! Okay, my younger brother (plays the baritone) has really bad asthma and he still manages to do runnign block and everything! What really irks me is that her asthma is preventing her from marchign at all! That's bulll!! We're just learnign the show, so theres no major work. We mostly just stand there! And then, she get "dizzy" fromt he medicine or whatever and has to eat! In front of everyone else as we're standing at attention and she's sitting on her a**! Grr!

Last winter season, I gave my friend a minor concusion. We had this part in the show where the rifles came out and threw a 5, ducked down, and the flag line swung these giant green poles over our head. Well, we were practicing it and my toss was a little off and I told her to look out and she kind of just walked into it. I felt so bad!! gonk

We have had like four people pass out and one went into shock. The only thing that happened to me was that I fell on the track and got a bloody knee. I didn't want to know if it bled so I finnished running the lap and then asked a friend if I was bleeding. And sure enough I had blood halfway to my foot.

I have only had two 12 hour days at the school and I already am sore, bruised, and slightly broken. Mostly thanks to my rifle. At least learning drill can be amusing to learn, but not at this point.

I have carpel tunnel in my wrists, and I play trumpet. ninja

This year at band camp both of my wrists sprained, so I got a tan line from my wrist braces. XD

Well, the night before Northwest Marching Band Championships, we had practice go really late, like 10 pm. And it was almost pitch black. We had two of these huge generator lights, but you could still not even see the yard lines...they were just kinda there as a reference to front and back field.

Anyways, this one alto saxophone player fell down because he tripped over a mound of dirt (we use a cruddy field for practice, its like made of dust)

...and he sliced his hand open on his saxophone, and his hand was like gashed open! It was so nasty!

And we also had a Quad player break his ankle at a competition because of Sprague highschool! *grumbles about muddy fields*

And today my friend passed out from an lung expansion exersize. It was like 115 degrees on the turf.

Last year, I was marching
backwards w/ my flag (I'm
in guard, don'tchaknow),
and I hit a trumpet, which
in turn hit the trumpet
player's mouth. Luckily,
it wasn't messy. I passed
out a bunch during band
camp last year, and threw
up once (heat stroke or
whatever). This year was
the first time i tried to spin
sabre. I bruised myself
pretty badly and got a
scary blood-blister. Also,
I got sun poisoning. It's
all itchy and gross. T__T

At the begining of the season my knees and ankles hurt really bad, cause I have weak joints. Well for some reason last wednesday my ankles started hurting again...like, the back part of my foot? Thankfully we were charting so no extreme marching. I also split my lip with my reed.

This year at band camp, two people passed out from heat exaustion- one was ok in 15 minutes and was back to marching, but the other got sent to the hospital. Then my friend has achilles tendonitis so she missed some of band camp going to the doctor to get it diagnosed. And a mellophone had something with her back, but I'm not sure exactly what happened.
