I appreciate that you're trying to stand up for Tifa, so I definitely won't argue. It's good that you're a loyal fan and I respect your opinion. However, I saw the majority of these things in other female characters too....and most of them WERE true. I'm not contradicting you, but I think that the majority of Tetsuya Nomura's later characters were based on Tifa and her actions. Even if many fans did like Tifa, Nomura wouldn't have put Cloud with Tifa or Aeris because he'd lose so many fans. So in this case I think both of us are right....Tifa is bad and good. It depends on how you see her. However, I found it necessary to state my opinion here.

Well, the thing is, Tifa isn't perfect. Far from it, actually, which is what draws me to her as a character. At first, you see a cheery, lovely looking young lady, and immediately think, "Oh, so this is the stereotypical female lead." However, as the game progresses, you get deeper into her character, and begin to see more of her flaws, and the other things that make her human, and not some shallow stereotype that many anime heroines have had to step out of. She's got her insecurities, her likes and dislikes, and although pretty to some, may not appear as lovely to others. She seems so normal compared to some of the previous female leads in many a video game and anime, which was rather nice.

Aerith also isn't perfect, but I think what draws people towards her is her brightness (in both wardrobe and personality), as well as her somewhat mystic nature. Both girls complement one another, so it's not hard to see why they became friends.

I just wanted to show that she did have her good points, ones that went with the bad. Kind of like how Yuffie, despite having been a thief and stolen the party's materia, is still willing to fight for a good cause, not just for her country, but for herself. 3nodding

I also rather dislike it when people start talking about how perfect a character is, since a character is never truly perfect. razz

As for the Tetsuya Nomura thing, well, it's the same character designer, so similarities would occur. Garnet doesn't count, since she was designed by a different artist, and the particular layered hair style that Tifa possesses is a rather popular one you'll see on a LOT of characters in anime and video games all over the place. Nomura and the other folks at S-E need to get a little more creative with female characters though, and I'm not talking about the wardrobe. sweatdrop That's why Final Fantasy XIII has got me excited. xd

It's also what made me happy about Tifa's costume change in Advent Children. Finally, something more practical! Although, the butt skirt, albeit a stylish one, might get in the way if she were to do a flip, ne? Other than that, pants and shorter hair made me happy.

That's only for the english version. The original was "zuruzuru zuruzuru". Which is referred to as a dragging sound I believe. The "dilly dally shilly shally" thing was just the irritating American version... xp

Man, SIC is truly a great counter-artist.

I have to agree, Tifa was one of the more human characters in a game, and in the media completely. Like Natsu from Rival Schools, if you know here, I love you, but anyway... They are both have great looks, and are strong both physically and with the heart, but they both have their own insecurities and problems.
With Natsu, it's about her height, and about whether or not Shoma loves her or not. With Tifa, it's about trying to keep Cloud as a friend and trying to come to terms with her feelings.

I never really just liked her body, I loved her and her character. Great person overall.
God dammit, glasses lense popped out.

Tifa is my favorite FF7 girl mainly cuase she not at all stuffy like Aerith or too show-offy like Yuffie was. The whole "leaving a four year old incharge of a bar" didnt bother me seeing as she's the duaghter of quite possibly one of the biggest and angriest guys I've ever seen on a video game and taken care of by a mistress of martial arts. She said what she felt(except toward the fact that she liked Cloud till toward the second disk) and was always honest if not brutally honest.
