"Oh, I'd be glad to!" Batou declared with a look around. "But well, this place, and this village, isn't exactly that interesting... I hear Oto has quite the night life, but our village is serene, and calm. Well, except for this part, but it's so mundanely loud. I'd find you a guy friend, but I think your boyfriend wouldn't be that pleased. Do you want to have something to eat?" he asked her. "The gypsy cuisine is quite different from the traditional Kiri palate."

What he meant, of course, was that fish and rice and ramen and miso soup were quite absent from the meals here. Instead, it would be full of spices, nuts, pasta and red meats. Centuries of living in Kirigakure had influenced the cuisine, but it was only by little, with the addition of shellfish.

"My grandma makes quite the spaghetti vongole,"
Batou finished conversationally.

[I don't even know what country I'm basing them off anymore.. xd

Hoshit! I just had the greatest idea for this NPC!]

Star looked to the man. Was he trying to pick her up or something? What an odd way about things she thought to herself as she looked him over. A grin played her lips as she let him finish.

"What, Kage? Bah, he won't mind." She soon began to walk closer to Batou but this time in a more sudductive way, "Hmmmm why don't me and you go and have some fun ourselves? Yous eem olde enough to handle a few bleeding spots and whip lashes." She grinned and then pulled back. Just as quickly as normal, her pesonality flopped, "Well now, what are you gonna buy me for breakfest?"

"Well, I was actually only trying to get you to try my gramma's spaghetti, so I could force her to make it again. She only makes it when guests are around," Batou complained. "No matter how much I beg, or offer to do stuff for her. Anyway... breakfast, huh?" Batou mused, looking around.

"Well, if you really don't want my gramma's awesome spaghetti vongole, I guess I could just tell her to make another bread dip dish. Unless you're fancy, and would like some special pancakes.. the stall is right over there," Batou said dismissively. "My gramma's various dips are hummus, herb dip and all sorts of other great stuff from sweet to spicy." It was evident that Batou held great admiration for his grandmother's cooking.

"Or we could eat over there... they have more foreign stuff, like our version of pizza... and they have pita bread. You can choose what's inside. You choose, I don't mind,"
he said with a shrug.

Star looked to him with a venomus grin on her face. She smiled, almost like the grinch and moved to him quickly. "Hmmmm, admiting that your trying use me is that it? Well well well, already on your way to becoming quite the little manipulator aren't we." She grined as she moved behind him and began to run her fingers along his shoulders and neck. Her nails began to slowly scetch along his neck and finally nicked him slightly. Only a slight drop of blood would come out. She'd take it too her lips adn smile.

"Hmmm alright, lets try some of your granny's food. Shouldn't be that bad right?"

"Aww!" Batou said as the lady appeared behind him too quickly for him to react, and left a mark on his neck to boot. "People will think that I've found a girl, or something," he grumbled. "This will spoil my chances with the eligible ladies." He was trying to keep his voice as normal as possible, but by now even Batou was a little freaked. Oh, well... if he was used to dealing with Granny, he could deal with this lady.

"My gramma's food is excellent," he replied solemnly. "Nothing less. Come on," he continued, leading her to a store and going inside.

"Gramma!" he called. "A guest!"

Almost immediately, an old lady materialised behind the counter. She was small and frail and required a stick to keep herself upright, but her eyes were sharp, or sharper, than the knives hanging at a corner, used to chop the herbs up to the proper size.

"Guest?" she echoed, looking at Star up and down. "She looks like that whore next door! Don't go tricking me again."

"No Gramma," Batou said patiently. "This is Mirid Star-san, a new jounin of the village. I'm showing her around, and I thought to introduce her to your spaghetti vongole."

The lady glanced at Star sceptically, before rolling her eyes at Batou. "As if!" she snorted. "I know you made her do it because I keep refusing to make it for you! The herbs for the vongole are in short supply. If the lady wants it, she'll have it, but don't expect a serving for you, young man." Glancing at Star briefly, the old woman said, "So, Star huh? Call me Despada. Granny Despada if that floats your boat."

Star grinned a bit evilly. She liked the old hag and her sharp tounge. Reminded her of her own grandmother. She moved over to Batou and wrapped an arm around his neck and pulled him very close. The scent of blood would fill his nose...it came from her. She enjoyed the sight and smell of blood greatly so she normally smelled like it. Slowly and sudductivly, she wraped her other arm around Batou's neck and pulled him right inbetween her cleavage, "Aww, now Batou-kun...how can you be so modest? Why not just tell her that we're engaged to be married and you wanted to introduce her to your future wife?"

Star smiled up to the woman, "Hmmm, I appologize if my dress is less than appropriate but I come from the deserts around Suna. It gets very hot there as you can imagine and full clothing isn't exactly healthy. I came to Kiri and fell in love with your little Batou here almost immediatly. I just can't keep my hands off him." She moved her lips almost to his ear and began to breath almost phycoticlly into his ear, "I could just eat. him. alive..."

[Sorry I take AGES to post! And as a side note... I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN A WEEK SINCE THIS POST TIME PASSES TOO QUICKLY AWFJAK;LSDJFA XD

As a side note, it is apparently Late Afternoon/Evening now..]

"W-w-what?!" Batou squeaked as he came face to face with ah.. softness.. Batou wrinkled his nose a little at the blood smell, as he was a shinobi after all. Anyone who gagged when he sensed blood would have immediately been rooted out and Batou had not been one of them. After a very long internal battle with himself he pushed Star away although his tanned skin held a red tinge to it.

"Horny as ever I can see,"
Despada said dismissively to her grandson. She grew interested at Star's next words, though. "Sunaga?" she repeated, almost a little surprised. However her tone was back to normal and she continued, "Hmm.. I think I have some relatives there. But we're so far apart in the family tree that I don't think it counts anymore." She gave another snort. "And they're still wandering about too. To each their own.." She completely dismissed Star's claim of being his wife and one wondered even if the granny had even heard it.

By this time Batou had recovered and he sputtered, "No no no Gramma! I don't know what Star is saying, she's not my wife-to-be and hell I just met her yesterday!" Close contact with BOOBS when he had been unprepared had left Batou quite woozy and slow on the uptake.

Star enjoyed getting tis kind of reaction out of the boy. Her mind was very tempted to continue on with the little teasing session but then again, he was in the precense of his elder. Star thought it best not to push things...least not today.

She rubbed the boys head and looked down to him as she walked past him and looked out the window. She smiled as the sun began to set in the horizon and the dusk mist flowed in. "Mmmm, so refreshing..." a smiled crossed her lips as she looked back to the old woman, "So, where are these spigettie that I've heard so much about. I'm starved really. Hehehehhe. "

[Let's say that they had spaghetti and then.. I dunno Star had to leave? S: >.< Damn it I really need somebody to play at least one of my mist three.. ;-;]

Cassie had thought nothing much of Andou's dismissal of her when she'd left the fields, but the long walk to the makeshift pier between the main island and the witch market had made it so that her anger had grown and grown, like a dust bunny gradually left to well, grow. As she stepped on the boat she was fuming. As she got off the boat she was practically red. She was so visibly angry that no one in the island dared to make any moves on her, although that was also partly because they knew who she was. No one messed with Old Tom and his family.

Commanding a presence much larger than her size suggested, Cassie marched up to the old herb parlour and slammed her knuckles against the door.

The door soon opened and Cassie came face to face with Batou. He had been about to yell at her because the wood was old, and rickety, and stuff like that, but his expression changed immediately upon seeing the woman.

"Hey, Batou,"
said woman said cheerily. She threw her arms around him and gave him a little peck on the cheek. "'S been a while!"

"Yes... yes, it has,"
Batou said wonderingly. Then he gave a violent sneeze. "Ugh... sorry Cassie, I had to have the flu when you decided to show yourself again. C'mon in!" he hastily remembered, dragging her in. She sat herself on a random table and fixed Batou with a questioning but listening gaze as he continued to talk.

"It's seriously been ages..." the man continued. He had also found a seat amongst the many in the parlour. "Where the heck have you been?"

Cassie gave a start at this. "Well..." she said sheepishly. "Umm. Well. Let's say that I had been... travelling places. You know, with my dad and all." For some reason she didn't exactly want to mention being taken captive and used as slavery on some random island...

This talk continued for a while...

The boat ride took ten minutes and that was apparently the fastest the old thing could go, according to the boatsman. He'd seen their urgency and Sensei had paid him extra money to go super fast. They crossed the small length of water between the main island and the volcano and it grew hotter and more mysterious, with bubbling water and a stuffy air and all that. But having been here loads of times Sensei paid that no heed. Eventually the boat (well, raft more like..) hit land and if Kira was with him he would have turned back and said more stuff in an urgent tone to spur him on. Not that he needed spurring or anything...

"Herb parlour," Sensei said shortly to Kira (if he was there) before quickening his pace again. Soon he was at the doors of the parlour. The shop was closed it seemed... Sensei raised his hands, and started with authoritative, quick rapping. Hopefully someone inside would answer his call.

Can’t this boat go any faster?” Kira groaned for the tenth time in the span of ten minutes, his fingers lightly tapping the floor of the raft with impatience. Perhaps it was his Hyouton limit that made him unbothered that they were nearing the volcano. As soon as they hit land, Kira leapt off, landing lightly on his feet. Sensei didn’t need to spur him - rather, it was like someone already lit a fire under Kira. The boy began urgently muttering a quick prayer to kami-sama to take pity and let someone be home, whoever it was that Sensei had taken them to see.

Frowning as he heard the knocking at the door, Batou slowly stood up. Shaking out each of his legs to make sure he'd be able to spring easily back if it was trouble, the chuunin then stepped over to the door. 'Just as I was getting relaxed, too....' Curling his free hand into a fist, the mid-ranked shinobi then slowly tugged the door open. A sigh of relief left his mouth, however, as he saw Sensei. "Sensei!" Uncurling his fist, Batou stepped to the side and opened the door fully, a slight smile coming onto his face. "Looks like we have practically the whole crew here."

[Do you want to roleplay your Granny or should I do it? XD Her profile is like, in the first page of the Witch Market (the granny). Hmmm I'll do it...
PS Batou would probably call him Andou (that's Sensei's name). Although Kira is there... I dunno. Your discretion!]

Cassie's cheeks coloured pink when she saw Sensei. She didn't spring up and instead shot a killer glare at him from where she sat in the room. "Finally decided to show yourself, huh?" she spat out angrily. She didn't take to being snubbed well and well, her ball of anger had grown considerably since she'd walked from the fields, taken the boat and complained to Batou... Cassie was a straightforward woman and problems with her should be solved as quickly and as directly as possible before it grew.

However, Sensei ignored her. Well, he gave her a distracted nod before turning to Batou. The expression on his face would probably wipe the smile off Batou's face.

"Yeah.." he acknowledged briefly, before changing tack. "Batou, where's your granny?" he asked. "They need her over at the hospital. Someone's been poisoned." He gestured roughly at Kira. "His sister... one of the Fubuki main branch." The Fubukis were such a prominent ice clan that even the gypsies would know about them, perhaps... "I'll explain later. We need her quick."

There was a creak from upstairs, and Granny Despada appeared with a wide frown on her face. "What's all these monkey doings?!" she exclaimed unpleasantly, giving Kira a once-over before dismissing him and turning to Sensei. "Don't you have any courtesy Andou? Disturbing families at this time of night?" She knew that Sensei didn't like people using that name but she'd be damned if she entertained that stupid whim. Why someone would want to erase their name was something she could never fathom.
