It was only moments ago that Makie, Ai and Oliver were eating lunch together. They had decided to go sing some karaoke together. The brunette liked the idea, but she wasn't much of a singer. She figured she'd let Ai go first... Makie was a little scared and she needed to figure out which song she would sing. The girl suggested Ai sing Unfaithful by Rhianna, just because when the angel said 'unfaithful', she remembered that song. For Makie though... She loved the song How Can I Not Love You by Joy Enriquez, Morning Graze by Ritsuko Okazaki was a cute song as well. Under Your Spell, from the Buffy The Vampire Slayer musical episode was another good song. And finally, there was Sayonara Solitia by Chiba Saeko. There were so many songs that she liked! Makie couldn't pick! That's when she heard some background music come on. It was a piano, playing in a sad kind of way... Then the person started to sing. She sounded awfully familiar... "I waited for you today
But you didn't show

So where did you go?" Makie's chocolate eyes drifted over to the singer, only to drop her jaw, slightly in shock. It was Misty! The brunette didn't know her older friend liked karaoke... In fact, she's never heard the older woman sing at all. Misty always practiced swordplay, and never really seemed to have any other hobbies... The way Misty sang almost made her cry... "You told me to call

And though I haven't seen you
Are you still there?" Misty sang softly, and elegantly. Not as good as Ai, but she had a nice and mature voice. It was easy to listen to it. The song, Never Alone by Barlow Girl, was her favorite song. That was the reason why she was singing this song. In her mind, it had always been 'her' theme song. It described her feelings so well inside. "I cried out with no reply

You're here and I’m never alone" By this time, she replayed her past over and over again in her mind. Wincing slightly as she sang. Misty had no idea Makie was watching in awe, in fact, if any one was watching her, she didn't know... Even though her eyes were wide open, she didn't notice any one in the room at the time. The woman shut herself in her own mind, where she was singing to herself, and she was alone there with the disturbing images of her past replaying like a movie. At this time, the music also picked up in the pace. Drums, basses, and guitars began to play in the background as well, giving it more of an impact. "And though I cannot see You

I'll trust the unseen" Misty changed her tone from soft and elegant to a more powerful, mature, and elegant sound. Her voice wasn't loud, but it wasn't quiet. It was just the right volume. She tightened her grip on the mic with one hand, and the other lay by her side, her hand in a tight fist. She continued on singing, closing her cyan eyes at last. "I cried out with no reply

You're here and I’m never alone" Misty opened her eyes again, a more of a fire burning deep in her eyes. Metaphorically, of course. But by this time, the emotion that came from her voice was the feeling of trying to overcome something. "We cannot separate

I'll trust the unseen" Misty softened her voice again, almost giving the feeling of giving in as well as a sense of relaxation. She slowly brang her free hand from her side, and used it to hold onto the mic. Two hands held onto the mic loosely, and she sang. After the verse, the was a pause. She dropped one hand back down to her side, and tightened her grip on the mic with her other hand. "I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I’m never alone" The song was almost over... Misty almost didn't realize it. This time, she looked confidently to the crowd... For real this time. She saw the audience, and sang with a feeling of triumph in her voice, but also with hints of loss and sadness. On the last word, alone, she held it, going down lower, the feeling of sadness coming through. And then the song ended. She didn't bother to se eher score that was displayed on the karaoke machine, she simply let out breath and jumped off the stage. She was about to make her way out when she caught glimpse of a small little brunette girl, close to tears and clapping. "Th-That w-was so great, Misty!" Makie said, running up to her friend and hugging her tightly. "I-I didn't know y-you could s-sing...! Y-You're s-so good!" Misty rolled her eyes. "Okay, shrimp..." Misty said, not even trying to push away the girl. You only had to say something that related to her small height, and she'd instantly stop what she was doing. "Just kidding. But don't hug me randomly ever again... Got it memorized?" And Makie nodded. ( I had to throw in the 'Got it memorized' line! XD Go Axle! )

What? Rin didn't even say it out loud. She was getting nervous now. She couldn't go up there. She'd faint! In front of all those people? She'd never sang in front of anyone before. She hardly even sang!
But it was her turn now. What should I do? she thought frantically. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. I can do it if I pretend no one's watching. I'll just close my eyes. I might look stupid, but it's worth it. Rin swallowed hard and shakily walked out onto the stage. Her legs felt like jello and she silently prayed they didn't give out on her.
She took her time picking out a song - anything to prolong the inevitable. She didn't know what to sing. It should be something she knew well. She came across one that she recognized. I guess I'll sing that. Her legs were still jello-fied, but she closed her eyes and found her voice...

When it was over, Rin opened her eyes and dashed off stage as fast as she could. She hid around the back of the stage building, gasping for breath. Her voice had started out shaky at first, but eventually it got stronger. She had actually sounded good. It was probably because her voice was so soft from being shy. When she'd caught her breath, Rin managed to smile and laugh. As scary as it was, it felt exhilerating. Though, she wouldn't be doing that again anytime soon. She was getting as far away from that place as possible - and so, she headed for the picnic grounds.

Legend finally found a song that she wanted to sing. "Okami, I found one!" she cried. She input the number of it into the screen then grabbed the mike and prepared to sing.

While walking to the Karaoke with Makie and Oliver, Ai was humming the lyrics to Unfaithful as well as thinking the lyrics in her head, trying not to forget any of the lines and verses. It would dissapoint Ai very much if she forgor one line or more. Basically, as Ai was humming in her own little world she wasn't paying any attention about the people around her, so there was a couple of times when Ai bumped into people as well as almost tripping. ".. sorry.. soo sorry.. sorry" she muttered under her breath each time she bumped into someone, even when she bumped into objects.
Once Makie and Oliver stopped in front of the karaoke machine, they were even standing still. Whats wrong with them? as Ai thought once she caught up to them, but in front of Ai was a Misty singing. Ai stopped dead end of her tracks and stared in awe. Misty had a great voice that Ai wasn't aware of.
The song sounded kind of sad, which almost got Ai depressed. The song even reminded Ai of her past. It reminded her of her parents, mainly Ai's father. Ai has never seen her father for a very long time, to the point where Ai forgot what he looked like. For some unknown reason, Ai's father never even paid the slightest attention to her, nor cared all the accomplishments she made. Until the day came when he suddenly vanished.
Oliver looked over to his side, noticing a slight sorrowful smile on Ai's face. It wasn't Misty's singing, Ai was enjoying the sword wielding girl's voice. He never knew Ai's father nor seen him, but sometimes he wished he did. As the song finished, Oliver looked back at Misty who was stepping off the stage. With a cheerful smile, he pumped his arms up in the air and jumped up and down.
"WONDERFUL! C'EST SUPER!" he said in a hyper french tone of voice. Ai snapped out of her spacing-out mode and smiled at misty; clasping her ahnds together; "That was awesome, Misty!" praised Ai. Thats right.. no need to remember the past.. its behind you.. I have to smile to the future Ai thought.
"So. You want me to go up next?" Asked Ai as she looked over at Makie; the other people singing in the background.

Makie was a bit too busy watching Misty sing, that she hadn't paid attention to Ai's sad expression. And Misty was trying to focus on her song, that she hadn't exactly seen Ai's expression either. Prehaps that was a good thing, since Makie would be super worried if she saw Ai sad. Misty would probably be worried too, although she probably wouldn't have shown it.
Misty, after getting Makie off of her 'clinging' mode. Oliver decided to be his normal hyper self, and complimented her singing. Misty's cyan eyes widened then she returned to her neutral expression. She didn't mind praise, but sometimes she felt uncofortable receiving it. It was just how she was raised. "Thanks, kid." Misty replied to Oliver, putting one graceful hand on his head. She was also trying to signal Oliver that he should calm down a bit. She did it a lot to Makie as well. Then Ai also complimented her. Misty blushed inside, but retained her normal, held back expression.
"Thanks, but, I'm no where near as great as you." Misty said, for once praising some one... And actually praising from the heart. A bit of silence passed, Makie and Misty could hear some one singing something in Japanese in the background. Ai spoke up momentarily, directing the question to Makie. The brunette perked up then nodded slowly.
"Y-Yes p-please, Ai... I-I really wanna h-hear y-you sing..!" Makie said, clasping her hands together and smiling softly. "I-I you w-wanna that is..." She hated forcing or making otehrs do things that they didn't want to do or weren't ready for. Makie also wanted to take the chance to figure out which song she should sing. Something that wasn't low, and something that wasn't extremely high. A childlike voice, that hadn't matured, don't have very big ranges.
"Y-You're g-going to do so w-well..!" Makie said, giving Ai a boost of confidence before she went up. "J-Just s-sing your h-heart out... A-And i-if you forget th-the w-words, you c-can always j-just sing la." Makie attempted to rid Ai of any doubts, but wasn't too sure if it was working.
"Yup. Good luck." Misty said simply with a nod. "Don't fool up." Misty let out a joking chuckle. She was just kidding.

Oliver stopped jumping up and down once Misty gracefully placed a hand on his head; he kind of got the signal that he was getting on Misty's nerves. Oliver frowned, only because she didn't want to be praised. Also, Oliver was kind of scared what Misty would do if he kept being hyper. He couldn't help it, he likes always being happy.
Ai nodded when Makie was trying to comfort her; she really appreciated it. Ai smiled calmly as she turned towards the stage, the wind blowing her long lavender hair as well as ruffling the Bao's in her hair. Ai gulped as each step brought her closer to the microphone. Why am I so nervous? I've never been nervous when I sing! But why? she thought as she mentally kicked herself.
Once the mircophone was in her view, she walked closer so she can take the microphone out of the holder. Her hands gracefully wrapping itself around the microphone and swiftly pulled it out. Just think of something that makes you happy.. like.. um.. sunflowers! Picture a field of sunflowers and you're running along the field.. and in front of you is a large contract from a huge recording company and you have to do is sign it and you can bring happiness to the world! thought Ai, it really calmed her nerves down somewhat thinking about this. Biting her lip, the music came on, it first sounded like a piano, but it was coming from a stereo. Soon, the intro came close, how can Ai tell? Well, the melody of the piano was soon greeted by a chorus of violins.

The intro and first verse was done, as Ai sang she slowly closed her soft lavender eyes, her voice sounded sad, like a child loosing her mom. But, her voice sounded refresh as well, like she was okay. Ai slowly brought the microphone closer to her lips as she kept that vision in her mind. To keep her focused.
Thats right.. keep your eyes off the crowd.. you don't want anyone distracting you.. just think about that contract.. she thought as she started to sing the second and third verse of the song.

After the part when she said 'murderer' the beat to the song got a little louder, like more instruments joined in than the piano and the violin. But, the part when she sang the murderer part, she couldn't help but think about when she was slayer. She killed so many demons and devils, even some humans who the South HQ thought were involved; Ai felt like her heart was burning everytime she slayed something. Until it came to the point Ai couldn't take it anymore and she asked to go away for some time. Sabrina nodded and brought Ai to Ria High.
Idiot! Its not time to think of the past! Put it behind you, Ai! Idiot, place your past behind you! Ai thought as she mentally kicked herself again, she needs to focus on what she's doing. Lightly smiling, she opened her lavender eyes again, though they looked like they were filled with sorrow.

Ai's voice reallly gave out the hint that she was an angel; which is wierd. Mainly because angels don't sing beautifully, thats a mermaid's job to sing. An angel's job is to become a guardian angel and watch over someone. Not only does Ai sing, but she was never born with wings. Her voice filled the area, as it danced within the air and the falling sakura petals.

Soon, her song came to a close, though I kept standing there for a moment. She was trying to live the moment; she loves doing that alot. With a relieved sigh, she walked over to the stand and properly placed the microphone on it. Smiling and slightly bowing to the crowd, she walked over to the stands nearby and took her time walking down.
Now that wasn't so bad! Maybe I should sing an upbeat song next time! she thought as she smiled and jogged over to where Makie, Misty, and Oliver was standing. Oliver smiled as he high fived Ai. "That was awesome, Ai! I swear your voice is getting better everyday!" he exclaimed happily as Ai smiled, it was nice that she had some fans.

Misty was glad Oliver had calmed down a bit. She couldn't handle it when people were hyper and all happy. Once Makie had been super excited, over something Misty forgot, that Misty totally flipped out at the brunette and had stormed out of the room. The brunette was in tears, but the woman came back once both of them calmed down. Makie was scared for her life when Misty had flipped out, but Misty would probably never draw her sword to the small girl. She wouldn't hesitate to take out her sword if it was any one else though.
Luckily, Misty left her her sword back at their dorm today.
Makie looked over at Ai, hardly containing her excitement to hear Ai sing... The background music began in seconds... The angel looked kind of nervous. Makie's chocolate eyes softened in wonder. She had rarely seen Ai nervous. But at least it proved that Ai was alive. If she wasn't alive, she wouldn't be nervous. Heck, even Misty was nervous when she sag, that's the reason why she had locked herself up in her mind when she was singing.
Then Ai began to sing.
Makie's chocolate eyes widened. She was such an amazing singer! The brunette could swear that if sang to any man, they'd be hers in seconds. Seriously. Makie wondered how Ai could just go up there and pretty much pour her heart into her singing, and be able to make any one listen to her song and her voice.
As Ai went through the song, tears began to sting Makie's eyes again... Tears of happiness for her friend and the amazing job she was doing. Then she felt a few tears go down her cheek. In shock, she wiped away the tears quickly.
Ai's singing was soo beautiful. She couldn't help it.
When Ai was finished her song, Makie clapped as hard as she could. Misty just clapped normally, retaining her calm composure. She thought Ai was great! But she'd never tell... What was there to tell?
"Th-Th-That was a-amazing..! I-It w-was soo g-good!" Makie said, hugging her friend. "Y-You're s-such a great singer..!"
And then it came to her. Makie had to sing too... But she still didn't know what to sing. She kept quiet about it. When it came down to it, she'd probably just sing the first song that came to mind. So, she supposed she was ready to sing now...
"Erm... S-So... Sh-SHould I g-go n-now t-too...?" Makie asked softly.

Keith and Bijou got to the Karaoke section. "Many people sing here." He said observing all the people. "So, are you going to be singing a japanese song, or maybe a english song?" He questioned Bijou as he looked at her. The place is cool. Many singers. Great ones at that. He smiled at her and turned back to the area where people sang. "I know you'll sing wonderfully." He continued. There were many girls there, but not many boys. Nothing to shame. He sighed.
"Well, sadly I don't know many songs. Maybe a few japanese, but not alot alot. But I guess I never had time for things like this. It would be great to beable to hear the many singers." He continued.

Airah could swear that she was hearing music. Someone was singing, and it she walked towards the sound. She had always loved listening to music, but it was only in the past few years that she had begun to sing as well.
"Hmm? A karaoke stage? That wasn't here when I came... was it?"
It became evident that the singers on stage were not professional superstars, but fellow students. As Airah sat on the ground listening, her legs crossed in a familiar, automatic position, she became less and less sure of her singing ability. It was always this way with her: whenever there was competition she would always find herself inferior. Content to just listen for the moment, she pushed away those thoughts. However, they soon came back as more singers stepped up to the mic, and eventually she stood up, sighed, and turned to go.
What the hell are you doing?
With the young male voice, an unbearable heat flared at her collar. It seemed as if her skin was being seared. Indeed, fire seemed to blaze fiercely within Benimaru's heart, and Airah's eyes could not look at it.
Get up on that stage! No wielder of mine has ever been a coward!
Benimaru rarely spoke, and when he had done so in the past Airah had always obeyed him. He was older and wiser, obviously, but this time Airah fought him.
I'm not a coward, she said, her eyes averted. I just don't want to sing.
Liar, he snarled.
There is simply no need for me to get up there and make a fool of myself.
Benimaru laughed, and remained silent. Even though his heart cleared to show the grey of her own mood, Airah could feel the sarcasm and disrespect that remained, and she angered.
She was graciously sharing her body with him. He was a damn lucky spirit to have female carrier, especially one who wasn't reckless! And he dared to criticise her?
Defiant and indignant, she walked determinedly to the stage and signed up, selecting a song she knew she sung well. It was an old favourite, and she had selected it without even thinking. Now that she had done so she regretted the action, committed in a moment of anger, but her determination to show Benimaru she could do it stood unwavered.

Laurel tugged on Micha's hand as they entered the festival and she spotted the karaoke stage. "Micha...please?" Micha turned to look, and when she saw what Laurel had in mind, she grinned. "Well...okay, but you hafta get up and sing," she said. Laurel stopped. *But...but...Mi! You know I hate getting up in front of people,* she called into her twin's mind, but Micha was already browsing through the book of songs. "Oh, come on! I'll do it too," called Micha. "Lor...please? It'll be fun! And you have a great voice." "Do not," said Laurel sullenly, but came to join her twin. "Lor, we're twins," her sister reminded her. "And you sound the same as me, and everyone tells me I have a good voice, so you must too." Laurel just scowled at her, and said nothing. "Spoilsport," said Micha. "C'mon. I'll go first." She put her name on the waiting list, and Laurel's after her, then walked back. "Did you pick one?" "Yeah." Micha added the name of Laurel's song, and they sat down in a patch of shade to wait for their turn.

Laurel stood, and went to wait by the stage when Micha's name was called. They had both chosen songs from musicals, not usually popular, but ones they had grown up with. Micha started with a song from The Phantom of the Opera. Laurel watched her twin get up on stage, her palms starting to sweat. The only person she had ever sung in front of was her twin. *Why did I let you talk me into this,* Laurel called menatlly to her sister. Micha just winked as the song started.

As Micha walked off the stage, Micha hugged her twin hard. "Lor, you'll be fine," she said, then gave her twin a gentle shove towards the stage. Laurel stumbled, and gave her sister a terrified look. Laurel walked slowly up to the mic, gripping it in trembling hands. She had picked a short song, and as the piano introduction began, she began to sing softly in French:

As the verse came along again, Laurel repeated the song in English, then ended in French again.

Laurel ended the song, and fled the stage, blushing furiously. "Lor, what's wrong? You were great!" Laurel sat down with a thud next to her twin, shivering. "No, I wasn't. Mi, I was terrified." "Oh Lor..." Micha hugged her twin, and they sat on the ground together, watching the other performers.

"Thanks! I appreciate that, Makie! But really, singing is no bigie." Ai said as she lightly waved one hand and the other hand on her cheek, it always makes her blush when someone compliments her singing. Everyone loves compliments. Ai's hand fell from her cheek as she smiled, until she felt one huge hug from her brother, Oliver.
"You were great! I wish I could sing! But it would come out all squeeky!" he exclaimed as he let go from Ai's waist and was about to jump up and down, but he remembered that Misty doesn't like it when he is over excited. Everyone is so kind to me! Complimenting my singing, but really, I wished more of my friends were here to see me sing. she thought as she sighed silently.
"Oh! Yes, Makie, its your turn! But for advice, when you go up there and get nervous, just close your eyes and think up what makes you happy!" Ai said as she waved a finger at Makie like she was scolding her. "It really works! I was thinking about a field of sunflowers and I was running towards a HUGE contract to some recording company!" Ai exclaimed as she placed her hands toegther behind her; a huge calming smile on her face.

Bijou smiled and wandered into the small area designated for the Karaoke. She loved to sing. It had been a while since she had performed on purpose. Not just on a whim (like what had happened at the Glass Violin with Lancaster and Ame). She smiled and took a deep breath. She couldn't wait to get up there, but she had to see if they had a song she would sing. She sat down at one of cafe tables and grabbed the binder with the music on it. She searched and found the song she was looking for: "Legend of Mermaid" It was from one of her favorite anime shows.
Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She got a sly look and looked up at Keith. "Hey, Keith..." she said. She chuckled to herself silently. "Do you want to do a duet?" she said. She smiled and laughed silently. She didn't want him to be aware of her idea. He had no idea what song she was picking. It would be a... surprise.
