If we're talkin' BBC, you gotta say Monty Python, Ab Fab and Black Adder!!
If we're talking America, Mash has to be in there. So does Cheers, Taxi, Frasier, Three's Company, All in the Family, Happy Days, Mork and Mindy... (am I dating myself a bit too much? xd )

I am loving Arrested Development. One of the best shows on television I've seen in quite some time. I know it's not technically a sitcom but I just had to mention it.
I think my favorite sitcom was The Cosby Show.

I only saw a couple of Arrested Developements... and they were pretty good.
I forgot about alot of the brit-coms. my pbs station back home played alot of them. I loved Fawlty Towers... and it still holds up today. And "are you being served", and Black Adder.... and of course RedDwarf. I 'm a huge Red Dwarf Fan, and I live in a RD-free area. but atleast there are always dvd's

All of those shows were great. Much better than "reality shows" of today. In high school favorites were Mary Tyler Moore show and Carol Burnett Show. OOPS, my age is showing again!

Lettchya age hang out smile We're all geezers right? I really do like the reality show 'The Surreal Life' though (VH1). Has anyone seen that one? It's good. The first one was my favorite with Vanilla Ice, Tammy Faye Baker, Eric Estrada and some porno dude. And Joe Schmo - that was really cheesy but funny. confused

Benny Hill... oh dear, I hadn't thought of that show in forever. And I watched Carol Burnett with my mum as a youngin... gotta love that lady. Then there was Mama's Family, with much of the same cast. blaugh
Several of my old favs have been mentioned, so I won't list 'em again... wink
Now for some really old shows, some in Black & White:
George Burns & Gracie Allen Show - I discovered in SF, CA on late nights Honeymooners - same place F-Troop - boy was I young then Beverly Hillbillies - still fairly young Laugh-In - damn I loved that station in SF Dobey Gillis - same place again What's Happening Golden Girls
Oh wow, they're all coming back to me now... this list could go on forever mrgreen
