Has anyone else read anything about the magnetic/electric properties of each element? I've only seen it in one book thus far but it is the idea that the four basic elements each have a duality to them best described through the concepts of magnetism and electricity.

I'm fairly inexperianced when it comes to the elements, but I've been told that I'm an air/earth element. I love storms, and while I'm very changable, I'm also very grounded and like to have something solid to stand on.
Odly enough, according to my zodiac sign, I'm a water, though I've been detatched from that for several years now.

I tried the meditation mentioned earlier and I'm water. Strange, because I thought i was a more earthy type person.

The_Lonely_Bunch LoBo has a meditation process where you sit on the ground with a rock (earth), bowl of water (water), and a candle (fire) around you (air is everywhere, you don't need anything to represent it). Meditate, and the object that you feel most comfortable with should be your element. Pardon the skepticism on the method, but I don't think neccesarily that the element you feel most comfortable with is your element. Just beacuse one is drawn to something doesn't mean one is that thing... it means a connection is there, sure, but connections are one thing, being a thing is another. For instance, someone who had their house destroyed by a flood or almost drowned as a child isn't going to feel comfortable around water even though that may be their true element.

Comfort could mean different things. When I think of comfort the phrase 'it feels right' comes to my mind. Sorry for the misunderstanding. sweatdrop

Though if that flood or almost drownding didn't happen you probably be comfortable around water. I agree with your idea, don't get me wrong, I just think if it didn't happen you would be comfortable with your element. Mine's fire. I know that. I work with fire alot, because I don't feel comfortable with other elements. When I try working with other elements I'm not in control. And that scares me. I like having control over the magick I'm doing. Thous I work with fire. And I think that if I ever had a bad expirance with fire I'd say I O.K. with that thing and keep working with it. So really both ideas work out nicely.

I always thought it interesting that astrologically I'm thoroughly Fire although my personality is so much more like my weakest element-Earth.

I've been asking a friend to find out my element for me for months now, he enjoys doing that for everyone but me. He can never seem to figure mine out, he can tell the elements for the spirits that are commonly around me, but never me, he gets so frustrated. So far he's narrowed it down to shadows, ice, and liqued metal, although he doesn't think any of those make sense, it's just the only ones he gets a feel for from me.

Fullmetal Alchemist Emily Hmm... I did not mean that elements were a 'belief', I just meant that some people think that they are just rubbish. And, as for myself, my astrological sign does NOT correspond with my element. I believe my element is fire, and my birth sign is pisces sweatdrop Quote: Azana gave me the name of a Gaian user who was said to have the ability to read elements Hey, Azana or Yagi, could you please give me the name of that user? 1.) You probably have a lot of your planets in fire signs. Astrology is more than the sun, dear. ^_~ I have a major majority in my own water signs, and it shows. 2.) There's always the possibility of the "secondary elements", for my natural kinetic appears to be electric (no surprise, since most water conducts). 3.) Mage of Dreams, though I can't remember if he uses underscores or not.
