Ok I may be shunned or kicked out of the guild for this, but are we forgetting what it says in the Torah about homosexuality?
כב וְאֶת-זָכָר--לֹא תִשְׁכַּב, מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה: תּוֹעֵבָה, הִוא. Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is abomination. Leviticus 18:22
There are so many translations... Some say man/woman, some say "as you lay with your wife" there are really too many translations...

I personally think that homosexuality should be accepted as love is love, I could get into a huge post on WHY I believe such but I have a feeling that this thread will die once I post. :/

I know that halachically homosexuality is wrong. However, take a look at what I posted earlier...
Me
Well yes, there is that verse in Va'Yikra (Leviticus) that says no man-on-man sex. But the Torah also says that we should stone those who break any of the Shabbas commandmants. So should you stone me for being online on Shabbas, lighting the stove, turning on lights? How is not following that part of Torah any different?[/quote

The Shabbat was made for man, not man for the Shabbat.......YHWH knows the intentions of our hearts, are we to stumble in darkness with no light to read His Torah?~ Heaven forbid! Are we to freeze because the stove went out on Shabbat?~ I think not........G-d set aside His Day of Rest for our benefit. And G-d gave us the Law of Moishe to us so that we may be seperate from the goyum. He has called us by His Name! Ahmain!

Oy vey a woman Rabbi! I never knew that G-d said to Moishe: "Speak to the daughters of Ahron...." rolleyes Not to sound sexist, but Adonai set aside certain rolls for men and women, women should not be Rebbes.

So Mankov, your aunt is a "reform" huh?

Men are the ones who put women in a subserviant role, not G-d. Sorry, touchy subject for me. And what's with the quotation marks on reform? I'm a reform Jew, and yes, our views aren't traditional, but that doesn't mean that we should be disrespected for that.

Not to be disrespectful to you for what you were taught, but isn't reform judaism just a form of New Age occultism? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reform_Judaism

Hey, hey, you of all people should be especially careful of any denomination-warfare.

Mankov, I want to meet your aunt.

For the record, everyone, I'm gonna be a rabbi when I get older, and I love the reform Jews just as much as anyone else. XD

Yes I apologize this is not the place for such a discussion as this. I didn't say that I didn't love other Jews though..........I love other Jews no matter what religion or beliefs they decide subscribe to. I'm sorry if I've offended anybody.

Nah, I'm good. Sorry, I wrote my earlier post when I was at school, and people at school make me a tad on the defensive side. All is well ^_^

Okay then... Pretty much all of this is directed to famusamu.
Do you follow every single law in Torah? No, it's impossible. After all, we no longer have a temple to give sacrifices at. But we don't follow a lot of other laws that would still be possible to follow. Within this guild we've talked about hook-ups on Birthright that lead to weddings, right? Are those couples abstaining from pre-marital sex? Doubtful. And I wear a tallit every Shabbas and Yom Tov, as well as tefilin on weekdays (when I'm there on weekdays). According to the most Orthodox among us, that's wrong. And I don't follow kashrut to a T either- I try, but when I'm at the mall and I want my honey-ginger chicken from the Chinese fast food place, I'll eat it. Torah was also made for man. We break many of it's laws on a daily basis.
So why not the one about homosexuality? Why is it so important that we keep that law, but we don't worry about being perfect about every other law in Torah and Halacha?
I don't know. Your whole bit about the Law of Moshe to seperate us from the goys? Not my thing. Sure, I'll be seperate, kashrut and Shabbas and all that jazz, but I'm not going to let it keep me from the belief that there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. And I'm sorry if I'm the only one, but your bit on women rabbis does bother me. Why can't women do as well as rabbis as men? What about us makes the difference? I'm not going to be a housewife or anything, giving birth to kids and cooking and cleaning all day long!
