The Beginning
'Well screw me sideways' was all Ronnie could think of saying. Finding such a phrase inappropriate, she settled for a minor growl of frustration. It was fate's little joke... the way it prodded at her patience.
She was barely adjusted to having the over dramtic Dierdre around, how was she to manage another fae so soon? But never the less, there was the familiar jar, with another note from the infamous Shy. Barely hiding her annoyance, Ronnie picked up the jar and card and sat on the couch to examine both.
The jar was the same as Dierdre's, nothing special there... but the note was a little differnt. It said that this time around, any gift would be acceptable. It didn't have to be a live offering this time. Which was a good thing as she was fresh out of living sacrifices. Still, this posed the question as to what would go in the jar this time around. Now that she knew the process it was a bit more daunting of a task.
Any every day object could really change the outcome of what happens. She took several minutes to just look over the item. It was a lucky streak that Dierdre was still asleep in her room... which would now have to be shared with someone else. The little girl would not be liking that idea one bit.
But her salary wasn't going to cut it for a bigger place. Maybe she'd buy one of those room devider things. Hopefully that would cut down on some of the temper-tantrum that would inevitably ensue. But this wasn't the time to think of that...
The honest truth was, Ronnie didn't really feel like she had anything special to put in there. The crane egg had perameters, this was too open ended for her. It had to be something meaningful, that way she'd have an attachment to the child pre "birth".
Frowning, she looked up on her mantle and spotted her box of knick-knacks she'd had since childhood. Perhaps something in there would lead to an epiphiney. She carefully un-latched the lid and peeked inside. Spools of thread, little coins, dried flowers, all very normal girl things... but there was something else there... ah yes, she remembered it fondly.
The very first thing she stole from Rias, a single Swiss GP90 cartridge for his rifle. He probably never realised it was gone, but she'd hoarded it and kept it on her bed stand for a few weeks. It was precious, but a little out of place in her home.
It was perfect.
With a smile and a bit more confidence then she had the first time, she placed the bullet into the jar and set it on the mantle along with the knick-knack box. Now... to wait for the results... and see if Dierdre noticed anything... that would be not fun...
