Chachili looked up, flushing a deep red.
"Eat them?" she mumbled, turning a deep scarlet, "No way! Well, Nokoa... you know, I found a mate and... we liked eachother and... and then we... y'know... we..."
Looking away, she blushed again. Then, with a cry, the klipspringer leapt up, a wild look in her eyes.
"Look, you, it doesn't matter! I'm having children, the same way your own mother made you, Nokoa! Your own mother didn't eat you, did she?!"
Chachili quietened down. She felt hot, and stressed.
Her head hurt.

Nokoa tilted his head to the side and wagged his stumpy tail, looking past Chachili, towards the distance. Her anger surprised the young pup, although did not fase him. His eyes fogged and looked blank as he stared past her, locking with nothing but his own world, that Chachili could not see.
"Did she?", he finally asked, turning his golden, questioning eyes back to Chachili. "... eat me? I .. I don't don't really know. Am I eaten?", he asked, pausing, "am I tasty?"
"Children must be tasty if you eat them", he concluded, answering his own question, and giving a satisfactory wag of his stumpy, ringed tail.

Chachili sighed. Nokoa sure was naive. In fact, she even envied him a little. He could live in a wonderful, creative little world of his own, where nothing really mattered and everything was a puzzle. A joyful, interesting puzzle, where pain did not exist.
Suddenly, Chachili realised that there was no such thing. A world like this could not exist... and Nokoa did seem to be a little distant at times. His eyes... they were windows to the soul, and Chachili had sensed a hint of pain there while Nokoa was wondering where his mother had rushed to.
"You'd taste good, Nokoa," Chachili grinned, eyes softening, "I bet your mother wants to eat you all up right now! You'd most likely taste like... like..."
She hesitated, then leaned towards Nokoa, sniffing him.
"What are you, exactly? A dog? A cheetah?..."
She didn't quite know. Nokoa was of a species that she'd never encountered before... he seemed like a wild dog, but... the scent was different. Ah, well.
She shook her head, and yawned. The sun was setting, and she would have to journey 'home' to the high grass sooner or later. She gave Nokoa a look.
"You'll be alright, won't you? Find your mother, alright? If we ever meet again... I'd advise that you start making more sense."
She grinned, then gave a flick of her head... and was off.
