Hoshi's arms stiffened around Shina, and he pulled her ever tighter, the question whirling around in his head as he calculated. It was almost 7 months, but it would worry her far too much to tell her, Hoshi thought. She would begin to think of all of the things that she missed, all of the things that depended on her for their life, and she would begin to wonder.
However, Hoshi could not lie to Shina, and instead he took her soft hands in his, as they traced the lines on his face, and squeezed them gently. "You've been gone for a bit over 6 months," he finally said, and then dropped her hands and pulled her tighter, and kissed her on her forehead.
"I'm not sure how it happened, but you haven't aged, except for your hair," Hoshi whispered, resting a large hand on the gentle curve of Shina's belly, and then reached up to stroke her face. "And I've been waiting for you this whole time." It was his best attempt and trying to make the tragedy less of a tradegy, and it had failed horribly.
The Starkeeper averted his gaze to watch Akina's working figure, and breathed a soft sigh of relief, that job something that he didn't need to take care of at the moment. But surely, Shina would need medical care, and a hot bath would do her no end of good.
"But wait, no. Before you even begin to take care of the things that happened, I need to get you home. You can come to my house, Kae will know what to do. And I have a surprise for you when you get better," he said, his mind turning to the image of the Rose Cottage he had been working to get fixed and sturdy. With the help of Akio, they had repaired most of the damage weathering had done to it, but furniture was yet to be moved in.

Confusion exploded at Hoshi's words, debris falling about the quiet clearing. Over six months? A little light dimmed in the clouded eyes of the angelic Fa'e as she struggled to swallow this stone, pushing it down into the pit of her stomach. For a Fa'e that was usually so in touch with her emotions, Shina was oddly complacent, not crying or even mourning. The only sign of any sort of negative emotion was her gradual drawing in of breath followed by a short squeak.
Her eyelids fluttered closed, eyelashes brushing Hoshi's strong chest. She felt his words wrap around her mind in an attempt to comfort her, and they did... a bit. But Shina could only think of all that she had missed. Had Kia had her child yet? What about Sati's wedding? And how was Airi doing? There were so many loose ends, so many people that she was trying to help that she had abandoned and...
The poor Fa'e shook her head in sadness at the realization that she had missed her own first birthday. Cradling her stomach in her pale limbs, Shina glanced back up to Hoshi, attempting a small smile at what she knew would be his face. Her wings fluttered as well, and Shina could feel their added weight. Apparently her hair was not the only thing that had grown after all.
Shina made no reply to Hoshi, but only fell into his arms once more, laying a series of gentle kisses all over his lips, cheeks, eyelids. She truly was sorry for making him worry so. As she attempted to step away from him, the angelic Fa'e stumbled, quickly realizing that she was not quite as independent as she had thought.
To avoid hitting the ground, her wings flashed out, catching her weight to slow the fall. Yes, the wingspan was larger now too, she realized as she felt the ground come nearer to her, arms reaching out for someone to catch her.

Hoshi could think of no remark that would help in this occasion, so he didn't utter any, choosing instead to comfort Shina with his actions. He released his arm's tight hold into a more gentler one, though full of support, and responded to her kisses with his own gifts, pulling her into a long embrace.
As Shina stumbled away, Hoshi stepped closer, his reflexes taking short moments to respond as he dove to protect her fragile body. He reached for her arms and grabbed them, softening her fall though not saving her for he was off balance as well and merely fell to the mud beside her. The Starkeeper took Shina back into his arms, wrapping himself around her.
"Everything will be fine, darling. I promise, we can catch up about everything. But let's take it to my house, please." Hoshi said, and then paused in thought. "I think you'll feel like a new person, ready to take everything on, if you soak in a hot bath, and we can talk away from the sorrow of a fallen field. Especially now that we are both covered in mud."

The mud was a welcome stain on Shina's pure white gown just as long as Hoshi did not let her slip from his arms. She lay there for just a moment, letting her toes wiggle in the moist earth, snuggling with Hoshi. A warm sensation overcame her heart and head, a kind of euphoria to ease her troubles.
"I suppose you are right, love," her voice whispered, muffled by the folds of Hoshi's robes. Curling her wings around them both, Shina leaned in to give Hoshi another kiss, though this one was far more passionate then her others. "A hot bath sounds magnificent..." ...and I do have quite a few questions, she finished in her head.
Nuzzling with her lover of many lives, Shina sighed, placing a hand on her stomach. "We have so much to catch up on..." Letting her wings relax again, Shina allowed Hoshi to help her to her feet so that they might leave the meadow and return home. Home... Mother... If only the poor girl knew the truth.
Across the meadow, Akina remained frozen, not watching the pair but only waiting for them to leave.

"Actually, I think that a hot bath would do me good, as well," Hoshi said, his voice serious for a moment, before it broke into a grin. "Although I don't think that there would be enough hot water for two baths at the same time. How are we going to solve this problem?" he teased, and then kissed her back, a longer, more heated kiss.
It suddenly struck him that the last time they had been in a field like this, a story had begun along the same lines as they followed now. Instinctively, Hoshi snaked a hand around to touch Shina's belly, wondering if she was thinking as he was. He kissed her gently again, and then grabbed her around the waist and pulled her to her feet.
"C'mon, dearie. It's time to go home," The Starkeeper said, and then stuck one arm underneath Shina's knees, and pulled her up to a carrying position, his other arm supporting her back. "Oof, you've gained some weight since the last time that I carried you." Hoshi laughed, trying to ease both her tensions and his, as he picked his way off of the hill, and around the strewn bodies of Shina's fallen family.

Allowing herself to be caught up in a moment, Shina giggled playfully at Hoshi's banter, not replying with words but only kissing him back with equal fervor. The warm pressure of Hoshi's hand laid itself upon her pregnant stomach, and Shina put her own pale palm atop of his fingers painted like the stars. The quiet of the meadow gave them the privacy to share a beautiful memory, age flashing in her innocent eyes.
Allowing herself to be lifted up, Shina stiffened her wings for a moment before coiling them back up to allow Hoshi better positioning to carry her. Despite the actually need for Hoshi to carry her in this way, Shina could not help but blush at the romanticism of it as he literally swept her off of her feet. "This extra weight is not my fault," she said with a laugh, patting the round of her stomach.
Glancing up to what she knew would be Hoshi's face, Shina was stunned to discover that she could differentiate between the moonlight behind him and the shape of Hoshi's head. "Oh, everything is going to be alright, love," she gushed with a soft, serene smile. "I can already recognize the light." Nodding slowly, Shina began to test out her new skill, watching for all the shadows she could make out with her clouded eyes.
And as Hoshi carried her away from the meadow, she could have sworn that she saw odd mound of shadow strewn across the ground with an oddly familiar figure tending to them all. But she said nothing, too far away too discern whether it was reality and too elated at the promise of time with Hoshi to question where she was going. "I love you so much..." she whispered, hugging her arms about his neck and laying a series of soft kisses upon his cheek and lips.
Closing her eyes, the spirit Fa'e pushed the memory of the long darkness from her mind, something that reminded her far too much of the Void. All that mattered now was that she was back and well and had so much to catch up with on everything and everyone.
Despite all of these variables, one thing was quite undeniably certain; she never wanted to leave her lover's arms again.

"I guess the weight would be partially my fault?" Hoshi laughed, and leanned down awkardly to land a soft kiss on her nose, his pliable lips lingering for a moment before he had to straighten to keep from running into a tree with his load. "Although you have the burden of carrying our child around. I guess that means I have to be your slave until he or she comes?"
A low gasp came as Hoshi drew in his breath, and a wide smile broke on his face, so that his words had to wrap around the gleeful spirit. "I knew that you'd push past your difficulties quickly," Hoshi said, and then paused for a moment as he ducked under a low-lying tree branch. "Soon you'll be able to see everything." The Starkeeper's words seemed sincere and passionate, the very longing for Shina to be able to see almost as much as her own wishes. "It has to be frightening, and a bit confusing, to not be able to see."
Hoshi could have answered Shina's soft phrase, but he chose instead to gently set her feet onto the grassy ground, for they were next to the car, and instead wrap his arms around her and hold her tight. He swayed them with the breeze, and tried to let his pumping heart cool in his fever, the excitement of being with his one and only having tried his body. Finally, he could stand it no longer and swept the fallen angel into a deep kiss, his lips locking with hers like a weave pattern, and Hoshi was afraid to break it off, not ever wanting the moment to end.

The body of the angelic Fa'e bumped against Hoshi's chest as he crossed the uneven terrain, sending little ripples of sound throughout the air. "It's no burden," she whispered softly in response, cupping her stomach once more. Motherhood really did become Shina. She had always wanted to be a mother, and now, in this new life, she was able to live selfishly and have everything that had been denied to her in the past. "But I make no promises of your freedom either." A gentle smile played across her pink lips, the coloring creeping back all over her body.
Shina could feel Hoshi's spirit lift at the promises of her restored vision, something that made her own spirit raise up. Everything was going to be okay, right? It didn't matter what had happened. All that mattered was that Shina and the baby were fine, and that the little fledgling family was restored.
"Being blind is not so bad," she confessed, knocking a strand of cut silver hair from her eyes. "It's not being able to feel that can make you hollow." As if to reiterate her point, Shina pulled a long finger down Hoshi's cheekbone and chin. Unfortunately, this Fa'e had felt both of these sensations... or lack thereof.
A quiet gasp of breath was muffled by Hoshi's lips against hers as Shina left herself go in his arms. His skin, his smell, his taste... she had missed all of it so much, and now that it had returned, the Fa'e feared losing him again more than ever. But she would be strong. Not just for herself, but for the baby as well.

((So sorry it's taken me so long!))
A light chuckle rang through the night, and Hoshi couldn't help but feel a warm close-ness run through his body and he shivered in the cool air, though it was a shiver of good change. "I would never be someone else's slave, especially if they wanted something like ice cream and pickles." The bright stars on the Starkeeper's body twinkled brighter than they had in a long, long while as Hoshi's mouth rose to a curve.
"A lack of feeling," Hoshi whispered dreamily, staring off into the night. "That would be.." he started, and tapered off as Shina's finger trailed along the side of his face.
The passonate kiss only enanmored Hoshi more, and he broke from it only when he had to, breathless from the embrace. "I'm afriad, m'dear, that if we stay any longer, we might not get back home until next nightfall," Hoshi whispered, a deep look of regret falling into his eyes. "I promise we can continue at my house, though."
With that, the Starkeeper picked Shina up once more, and carried her the couple feet to stand right by the car, where he set her down at the passanger's side, before openning the door. His guiding hand helped her slowly into the car, as he tried to make her as comfotable as he could.

A warm smile played across Shina's lips as she let Hoshi lower her into the car, his voice reverberating across her mind. "Yes..." she responded in a small voice, weariness again consuming her body. "We should get going. I need to recuperate and let Mother and Lenore and just everyone know that I am okay. I can't imagine how they must have worried."
Her hand gripped solidly to his strong forearm, happy to feel like she had her anchor back. And that's what Hoshi was... her anchor. Whenever Shina felt like things were out of control, she could also count on him to bring her back down and Mother, too.
Sliding her legs in, Shina let Hoshi close the door and began driving off. Though still slightly out of place, she would make do; she had no other choice. And as long as people needed her, she would never go away.
So why did she feel like something in her was broken? As if part of her was melting away?
Back at the field, Akina began to move the comatose bodies, half expecting one of them to give her the same shock that Shina had, but nothing happened. The moon would watch her progress as she moved each body one by one back to a safe place.
The next step? No one knew for certain. But the point was that Shina was back to stay.

Hoshi remained silent at the mention of Eirnae and Lenore, still not able to bring himself to tell Shina about her fallen mother. She needed to recover in peace, without having to worry - knowing that her mother still lay in a coma would only stress her fragile body more.
The ride was quiet for most of the way to Hoshi's house, though it was a sweet, warm silence of friendship and love. The Starkeeper let his thoughts wander and drift with the crunching of rocks against the tires, until they were on the main road, lit by humble streetlights.
"What was it like, in the coma?" Hoshi's voice finally broke the silence, his face turning to watch Shina's. "Was it any different from the coccoon, if you remember that?"

The trees and lake turned quickly to paved roads and streetlights. Shina's crystal eyes danced across the windows of every shop, remembering what she had missed for so long. The ride was made in silence, but it was warm and full of love, the kind that didn't need words to be justified.
Hoshi's words peeled into her mind, slipping into the lobes and jarring her from her little world. My coccoon... she thought quietly, mind flitting back to her journey into childhood. It was in there that she had healed so much... no, this coma was not the same.
There was no dismal chill in her coccoon, and it was something that she herself had created, a protection. The coma was a separation... a prison in her mind. But how could she vocalize that? How could she communicate such feelings through words? A soft hand laid itself upon Hoshi's, eyes traveling to find his face. "No..." she whispered quietly, bottom lip hanging slightly open. "It was nothing like my spirit coccoon."
Drawing her hand away, she let it rest in her lap once more, eyes venturing back to the window. "How much farther, my love? I long for home." Her voice carried with a soft singsong air, lights flashing overhead.

Hoshi's hand found it's way into Shina's lap, and it hugged her slender hand, squeezing it tightly for a moment. "Alright," he whispered, watching Shina's face for any signs before her turned back to the road.
Within minutes, Hoshi was pulling into the familiar gravel driveway, and parked the car beside the overhanging willow tree, for the shade and protection that it brought. "We're here already, darling," Hoshi annouced, and quickly openned his door, and ran to Shina's side to open the door for her, as well.
"It's only my house," Hoshi admitted humbly. "Not the hosue that we had been planning together, or your house, but I hope it'll suit you." A mischevious smile grew on Hoshi's face as he scooped Shina into his arms once more, carrying her as he had carried her to the car. "My room is quite comfortable, and I know where everything is.."
The Starkeeper trailed off as he tiptoed through the quiet house, silent in the early morning. They reached Hoshi's room quickly, without disturbance, and Hoshi slid into it, and placed Shina on the bed. "A tower for a princess."

Letting herself be carried, Shina was happy to allot her attentions to her other senses, tracing sights and smells that lingered in the familiar air. The air stuck to her like a warm blanket as Hoshi and she passed over the threshold to his home. Part of her was happy that he had not completed their shared home without her as she was eager to leave her own imprint there.
The feeling of soft sheets against her smooth skin was slightly foreign to Shina, as if it was some distant memory. Raising her chin to look at Hoshi, she smiled. "I am no princess..." she spoke with a laugh. Her eyes caressed every familiar shape of the room before trailing back to Hoshi. "Thank you," she whispered quietly, a kind word for everything he had ever done for her, not just this one act. He was her rock, her Starkeeper, after all.
"Now," she continued, sitting up as best she could. "Where is that bath that you promised me?" Eyes aglow, she waited for another word from Hoshi, each one bringing new happiness to her.
