Ok! So for my nineteenth birthday I'm getting a tattoo of a baby Logger-head sea turtle. I want one because everyday they come closer to being on the endangered species list. Also, baby sea turtles rarely make it back to their parents because of the hardships of the ocean, so if some can make it then I can do anything. The turtle is an ancient symbol of rebirth and fertility. Lastly, if anyone has read the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, my favorite books of all time, they will understand my fascination with turtles because of the turtle beam.
I'm getting it below the place where my bra hooks, but above the "tramp-stamp" area. I've given it a lot of thought, and I only want it to be seen when I choose. Like when I get married I don't want a baby turtle in all of the pictures.
I'm very excited! So think of me on Friday at 7:00pm EST, because I'll be under the needle!!!

I want a dragon tattoo, simply because I love dragons. I want to design it myself though. But I'm not sure what kind of dragon yet XD
I'm in no hurry though

Has anyone done any research on the real effects of a tattoo? I've been planning to get a butterfly on my shoulder blades, I don't mind the pain but people keep stopping me from doing it. They say I can't donate blood and stuff.. I'm in health sciences and from what I've studied so far its only skin deep. So how can the ink "flow through your blood"? its prolly gonna hit a few skin blood vessels but no major arteries, but I would like to know for sure..
And as for the pain.. I've asked around too and they said its tolerable.. biggrin

I don't think the ink flows through your blood, they just like to give it time to make sure that you don't get an infection. If it does then they just give you like a year waiting period, that's how long I have to wait. Now if you get an unsterile tattoo, or one in another country then you have to wait like 5 years, or you just can't give blood. I bled a lot...I mean A LOT when I got my tattoo everyone was so worried that I was going to pass out, but I didn't. With that much blood coming out I don't see how any ink could have really gotten in, but I could be wrong. Basically if you want one bad enough, you'll go to a clean establishment, and talk to the people about what you're getting and where then you can make your down payment and work from there. I love my tatoo, and I'll give blood as soon as possible.
Sorry, long answer to a short question, rolleyes but if you want the final word go speak to a tattoo artist the good ones will answer all of your questions before you start. xd Good luck!

when I got my tattoo, you actually had to sign a waiver saying that you weren't drunk, if you were they would refuse to ink you. there she is, the lovehandles were the most irritating because it kept tickling me so I kept squirming.

miss_ericka They say I can't donate blood and stuff.. My dad has a tattoo, has had it for ages. He's a regular donator and they've never said it was a problem. You just need to wait something like 6 months after getting it, just in case you caught something from a dirty needle (worst case scenario) it won't show up properly in the tests they do on your blood after you give it until it's been around for at least that duration of time. As is my understanding. So after the tattoo and then the waiting period, you can donate normally. 3nodding Finn: It's gorgeous dahlink! Post a close-up so we can see more of the detail? heart (it's good to see you, by the way 4laugh )

The pain level of tattoo's differ for everyone. I decided to get a little star on my foot-and let me tell you it hurt like a b***h!!! Another interesting fact is that I happen to be SEVERELY ALLERGIC to tattoos! My turned the area around my foot purple because the ink was poisoning my skin...it was raised like 1/4" off my foot and ended up getting a huge hole under it and had green goo in it...let me tell you lol!! I had to get it surgically removed-not laser! Surgical removal involved about 20 shots straight into the center of my foot (to numb it), and not just into my skin, actually into my foot muscles! Then they cut if off with a scalpel! I still have a star shaped scar because my dermatologist just cut it off right around the tattoo itself. So needless to say, I had a huge hole in my foot while that skin grew back, but I have a cool scar!
Apparently 1 in like 34 million (or some ridiculously large number) are allergic to the ink in tattoos. Usually it is seen with red and yellow inks...mine was a pinkish color so it had red pigment. But wouldn't you know it, odds like that and it turns out to be me!! So please think twice before you get a tattoo or at least get it somewhere fleshy where you have skin to spare because on your foot there is NO extra skin lol!! Take it from someone who knows!!
