Well techincally its not flaming if we dont offend each other...I don't know if systamatic_chaos agrees with me or not but the way I see it, if we can take shots at how much of an idiot Tony Stewart is without offending eachother, I think we are within the rules of this guild.

Is what Tony did stupid? Yes, very yes.
But is he an idiot? Someone who wins two Cup championships can't be an idiot. Someone who fights his way from a lap down with no lucky dog to finish 7th like he did on Sunday can't be an idiot.
I prefer to think of him as a 'Jekyll and Hyde' type maniac.

The way I see it, anyone who has decided to destroy a couple of innocent race cars early in the race is an idiot. What Tony did wasn't racing, that was road rage. If Tony can't settle down and smarten up right quick, I don't see anymore championships in his rather now bleek future.

*sigh*, I haven't been able to listen to My Nascar channel on XM much this week because of work. But with what little I have been, mostly the entire reaction has been negative towards Tony. I think I heard one guy call in supporting Tony, and he was an idiot. He probably threw crap on the track at Chicago. evil
*ahem*
Do you think that this could signal the start of Tony being perceived as a bad guy? Maybe even getting booed when he is introduced? Would Home Depot want to be associated with that?
On the other hand, Tony has been historically one of the more popular drivers. Do you think the Nascar public will forgive him? He did apologize.
Either way, it's not gonna hurt Tony that much, if at all. I mean, look at Jeff Gordon! He has to be the most hated driver ever. Still going strong with DuPont.

I think the part about Tony being the bad guy goes back a few years. Quite frankly, I would be somewhat suprised if Home Depot didn't say, "Smarten up or your on your own." Furthermore about hating Jeff Gordon, sure he's hated by a lot of people, but at least you don't see him go out every race looking for a fight likt Tony does. That is one of the reasons that Dupont stays with Gordon. ( that and he is raking in money hand over fist wether he finishes 1st or last.) Basically to sum up my argument, Jeff Gordon drives with respect 99% of the time while Tony drives AND talks with no respect to other drivers

My take is that they're both over agressive

First of all, I still believe Kenseth sputtered in the turn and Gordon had no chance to react. No one closes as fast as Gordon did without something happening to cause it.
Second, Tony needs to calm the ******** down. What was the old adage? Rubbin's racin. Taking people out isn't.
Third, he did apologize. Take it for what you will, but I will respect an apology.
Fourth, Home Depot I believe did threaten Tony Stewart back in 2002. Ironically he went on to win the championship.
I like Tony Stewart, and I will for the forseeable future. I think he's a racer's racer. But I don't condone his actions. There's a difference between being a fan and condoning his actions.

Triple Homicide I am sick of his crap. He ruined Carl Edwards and Clint Boyers day by wrecking them because he couldn't stand that he was given a little bump from racing to hard. Then he complains about how bad his day was after he finishes 7th while Carl finished about 4 laps down in 39th. Tony is a loose cannon and NASCAR has to do something before someone gets killed. I agree with you on the Pocono incident. Bowyer was running Stewart pretty hard and was close to bouncing off of him but didn't. Stewart just over re-acted. I loved the part when Edwards spun Tony while entering the pits, that was fun to watch. But in turn, Edwards got stung worse than Tony Stewart did. I like Tony Stewart because he's very competitive but I don't like him because he's a hipocrit. I didn't see the Daytona 500 (Yea! My boy Jimmie Johnson won!) But anyways, I didn't get to see it but oh boy did I hear about it from my aunt and uncle who are roush-racing fans. Stewart was saying about the 'slam' (bump) drafting and being over-agressive at the superspeedways. Just in the race-recaps alone I saw him breaking both of his examples. What gets me the most is he didn't lose points right? I remember my dad said Dale Jr. got a fine and points subtracted because he 'swore' on tv. Quite honestly I think the officials are full of s**t because they're shooting the good guys and letting the bandits get away.
