Nakshidil tugged on his sleeve, pulling him through the house. "Be careful, lots of vases here." she said, delicately sidestepping a pedestal with what looked like a crudely made ceramic pot. "I went through a period where I wanted to be an artist, and these were my creations."

"Naira hates owwies too." the older girl grinned, and stepped around behind Renjyo, pulling her in close and gripping her with her arms. "Now, grab a hold of my hands, and don't let go. I am going to hold you up by your arms, and you are going to dangle a bit. If you feel yourself start to slip, let me know and we'll land."

"Allie has a wand too." Laramie said, smiling. "I don't think I've ever seen her bring a rock home. She prefers items of the mammalian persuasion. The fact she brought home a wand at all astonished me." The jealousy was there, but it wasn't anything particular, more general, and it was rather depressing .

Kamil smiled, sitting down on a loveseat and pulling back his long hair into a quick braid lying over one shoulder. "So, tell me about yourself." he murmured, and rested his long hands in his lap, tilting his head to watch the other male. He rested his body against the pillow, lounging there lazily.

Crout grinned. "I am the one causing my siblings trouble." he said with a grin. "And I love every minute." pulling out a box from the pantry, he started mixing up some brownies. "Your family like chocolate?"

Mekt blinked, considering the vases. Artistic purpose in a physically creative rather than musical or pragmatic sense-- a very different vision than the ones at the Nest. “I see. You decided against pursuing it?” he found himself asking before thinking.

Renjyo giggled and did as she was instructed. “Up, up, up~” Up to the air and the sky and the pretties above!

“To tell the truth, we’re not sure why Mother brought home her rock. It’s strange though-- it has two figures clinging to one another in a fashion which seems to indicate...” Kiku paused, considering how to explain. “...indicate familiarity. Closeness. Almost a balance between two individual statues to form one.”

Nasir laughed, smirking slightly. “What do you want to know, Kamil?” he asked, savoring the boy’s name. Such a delicate, pretty name for a creature who fit it.

“Well, Mother loves it. Mekt will eat pretty much anything if you force him to, Renjyo will pick at anything you give her, Kiku will eat anything, and Nasir enjoys sweets,” Hera ran down the list. “As for myself... chocolate’s fun.” A troublemaker, hm? Fitting. “We’ve got ghosts who cause the trouble at our house.”

Nakshidil shook her head. "No time. I decided that the things I like to do most, is doing things for other people. As strange as it sounds, I find it most rewarding taking care of my family. The ceramics are more of something... hmm... a secondary hobby... I suppose. I like knowing that I can take care of their physical needs and wants. Let them take care of their own emotions, I like doing their laundry, cooking for them, etc. I like seeing proof of what I have done."

"And away!" Naira finished cheerfully, and launched them into the air. Luckily, the breeze felt cool, and the girl felt light. There was no real strain on Naira's wings as she let herself glide towards the water. "What do you think?" she asked the little girl as she spun over the water in circles, starting down towards the ground.

Laramie smiled softly. Was the statue of lovers? Two bodies, sharing the same heart. How he had wanted to be with his angel. But they'd been too young, maybe these two would grow up knowing better? Was this statue their punishment? Or maybe they were something else entirely. For some reason, he felt himself getting even more curious about the statue, and also starting to enjoy the conversation with this little girl.

"Sweets are incredible." the teen said gleefully, pouring the batter into the pan, and then swiping his finger through the bowl, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "I hope you don't expect me to share."

Kamil's eyes brightened almost imperceptibly, and he settled himself further back into the couch. "Well, what are some of your hobbies?" his voice was soft, and curious. "Your favorite foods? Do you like movies? Theatre? What kind of music?" he dropped his head, flushing at how he sounded. Well, to himself it was like a three year olf with a crush... but he should get to know his new "mother's" friend's "children"... because they'd be spending time together... hopefully.

Mekt considered that. It made sense, and he supposed as long as Nakkie was content, it worked out. "Proof that one can see or quantify-- that is satisfying." In truth, it was the same for science, the way that only substantial physical proof measured in terms that any scientist could understand would be able to understand and see. That made sense, struck something as 'right' in Mekt's mind. "Emotional issues are best left to the individual in any case-- seldom does another person understand all the subtleties left within the mind." Which was why Mekt didn't spend much of his time on emotions...

Renjyo giggled, happy to be surrounded by all the pretties! Pretties were so nice and the water was cool and sweet and made everything feel nice and nice was good because nice was right and happy! "Renjyo likes it~" She did too because the water was nice and Naira was nice and everything was nice and nice made everything better~

Kiku considered Laramie for a moment. "Would you like to see it?" she asked. "Mother will let me take it for a few minutes, since she knows I'll be careful with it. If you're curious." Because it seemed prudent to take advantage of what Laramie appeared to show an interest in. When making friends, it was always wise to watch what they thought of.

Hera smiled in spite of herself, shrugging. "Doesn't matter either way to me. Sweets are great, but they slow you down in that you can't do anything without getting a side pain after eating." And movement was important to the girl. Very important.

He wouldn't be a gentleman if he didn't try to answer all the questions, right? Not that he was a gentleman, but he was attempting to appear as such. "Hobbies-- training, and as of late, looking for a place to move into. Mother's 'house' isn't particularly roomy with so many children about," Nasir explained, continuing non-chalantly. "Favorite foods include the flesh of young boys and chocolate. I enjoy both movies and the theatre when the theatre consists of a certain type of stage, and the music I listen to spans a wide range given that Mother won't turn it off." About fifty percent of what he'd said was a lie, but that was fine. Nasir's tone made it obvious that most of it was a joke...

Nakshidil smiled, pleased the male seemed to understand. "I suppose it would be different if I was closer to them, but we each have our own hobbies, we only see each other at meals. As we all grew, Infi, Alana, she didn't bother to try and keep us all together. She let us find our own ways." A small shrug. "I found mine already, I'm just looking to find it on another level now."

Naira laughed, delighted. "Naira likes it too." she nodded to the girl, and pointed out all of the different creatures. One of the dragons flew by, swirling around them and giving the angel a small breeze to make it easier, for which she smiled gratefully. "Would you like to land, and swim?"

"Yes, I would." he said finally. "If you don't mind."

A laugh. "I don't get much of a side pain, but then, I don't exactly spend much of my time twisting or bending.

Flesh of young boys? Kamil looked alarmed for a brief moment. But his tone was joking, so... he relaxed again, smiling. "What do you train in?" he asked curiously. "And where do you think you are looking to move? Do you have a room-mate?"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 20, 2006 3:19 pm

"I see," Mekt considered this. To be fair, Raven didn't force the family to associate with each other. She encouraged it, having something to do with her tempestuous relationship with her own sisters, but who could really tell with Raven? "On another level?" he asked at Nakkie's last comment, mildly curious. He supposed there were different levels of hobbies when you came down to it, but at the same time, there was... not necessarily a set of different distinctions in his mind, but there were different ways of expressing it. Nakkie's hobby seemed to be taking care of others, so there were different ways of doing that, but he had the sneaking suspicion that wasn't exactly what the girl had been talking about...

Dragons! Pretty pretties with wings like pretty dark creatures like the pretty boys in pretty dresses in Mommy's magazines she tried to hide from Renjyo and everyone! And swimming? Playing in the pretty water, the clear shimmers? Pretty! Fun! Renjyo liked the idea because it would be pretty and if everything was pretty, things would work themselves out and Renjyo would get to have fun with the pretties! "Renjyo wants to play in the water~"

Kiku nodded, motioning for Laramie to stay for a moment as she slipped off to find Raven and ask her for the statue for a moment. It meant something. The statue-- Mother had gone to her friends for help with it, since she couldn't understand the subtleties of the little thing. Mother's pride seldom allowed her to ask for assistance from anyone outside her family, so it was especially queer that she'd done so now. Procuring the statue, Kiku made her way back to the room and carefully handed it to the boy. "Here," she showed him. "This is it."

"Oh? And what do you spend most of your time on, besides getting your siblings in trouble?" Hera asked, smirking slightly. The little girl considered Crout to be something of a... well, not someone to necessarily be taken seriously. At least not when he acted like this-- he didn't seem to take things seriously when he was in this mood. He probably could if he needed to, or if it was important enough, but...

"Generally I train with my sword, scythe-- more traditional weapons. They take a little more subtlety to learn, so I... appreciate them more," Nasir smiled slightly in spite of himself, considering his weapons. Really, they were his pride. If he sold them, he could probably garner enough cash to get a decent house and not have to work for the rest of his life-- but they meant too much. "And I've been looking for an apartment or something as a temporary fix. I haven't found a roommate who's... suitable yet," Nasir shrugged, managing to sound mildly bashful about that. "I'm slightly picky about my roommates, it seems."

Nakshidil shrugged. "I want to be a mother someday. Not anytime soon, but... when I get older. Even if they aren't my own babies, the thought of being a mother..." she smiled. "But I'm not ready for that yet. I want to wait until I am SURE it's what I want. I am still young, you know."

Naira laughed and spun them down to the shore, landing in the dirt by the lakeside. One of the mermaids swam over to them, tail splashing. "Hello Solange." she called. The merkyo waved and moved closer.

"Hello Naira." her voice was soft and musical, and she smiled at the other girl. "And who would you be, little girl?" she turned to Renjyo.

"She's Renjyo." Naira said, smiling down at the little girl. "She wanted to play in the water. Do you mind taking her out?"

The mermaid shook her head. "Not at all. Come on my pretty girl." the smile was sweet.

Laramie took the statue, handling it carefully. "It is beautiful." he whispered. None of the heartwerenching sadness he'd expected from it, instead it was....was... at peace? He couldn't really read it.

Crout's smile turned dark. "I spend most of my time in the clubs." he admitted. "I work in a bank, day job. By night, I, umm..." how was he supposed to tell such a cute little girl he spent most of his nights in a BDSM club? "I just hang out with..." with his slave? "With friends."

"Oh." Kamil leaned forward. "I've tried handling a sword before." Mostly decorative pieces he danced with, but he'd started trying to learn how to use them. "Maybe you would be so kind as to give me some lessons." he suggested. "And I can understand being picky about your roommates." his eyes were serene, and he settled deeper into the loveseat. "It can be good to picky, until you find the perfect person. I can imagine it would be almost as intimate as searching for a lover." he stroked over his braided mane, shifting it back behind him.

Somehow the boy couldn't be surprised by that. Innately, part of him knew that Nakshidil would be a good mother-- anyone who cared so much about taking care of others had a great potential to be a strong, statistically 'good' parent. "I'm sure you'll be a good mother, should you choose that path," Mekt smiled slightly. "And you'd have beautiful children if they carried your genes." Had he just said that?! He had. Why had he? What...?

Mer-lady with pretty purple tail and purple was pretty! Pretty color~ Renjyo giggled and moved towards Solange without argument. "Hihi~ Renjyo thinks Mer-lady's pretty too~~" she sung out, her attention focused on the merkyo now, rather than Naira.

"I think someone said something about it coming from a museum. They look for those who might be adequate caretakers for these... beings. Statues. Whatever you wish to call them, however you wish to think of them," Kiku explained. "Though I'm sure you couild ask Mother about them, if you're curious." The little girl wanted to know more about the boy, this strange boy-man who carried such a weight on his shoulders-- and if he became closer to the family, he would be around more, wouldn't he?

...like she couldn't tell he was leaving out bits and pieces-- probably the most important bits and pieces. Oh well. Hera knew she could count on the nosy nature of some of the members of the 'family' to find out more information if she really wanted it. But for some reason she didn't feel the inclination to press Crout for more information, just smiling and shrugging. "Clubs, hm? That's cool. I think Nasir wants to go to some clubs-- maybe you could take him sometime."

Oh, Nasir planned to teach Kamil how to handle a sword-- but mainly a specific kind of sword. This delicate flower was more than pretty enough to be suitable for-- ...speech. Yes. "I'd be... delighted to give you lessons, if you wished," Nasir smiled, trying to keep his predatory nature down a bit. "And... yes. It is something like finding a lover." Lover as opposed to bedmate, someone you actually cared for rather than someone you ******** when you felt like it...

Nakshidil smiled at Mekt, flattered by his words. She blushed, head ducking. "Thank you." the words were muttered softly, and then she brightened up a bit. "But I'd almost forgotten- we were going down to the lake to look at big boomies, yes?" she met his gaze again, green eyes sparkling impishly. "Well, come on then." she led the way, ebony mane bouncing out behind her.

Naira nodded to Solange, plopping onto the beach tiredly. Leaning back in the sand, her eyes closed and she relaxed.

Solange held out her arms to Renjyo. "Have you gone swimming before?" the merkyo asked, trying to gauge how far out to take the girl. "How long can you hold your breath? Do you want to leave any of your outfit up here so it doesn't get wet?"

Laramie nodded. Almost reluctantly, he passed the statue back to the little girl. "It's lovely. I may have to ask your mother about the statue. What is it called? Does it have a name?" His eyes drifted over the little girl, the one who looked so much like his other half, the one dead and quiet, trapped inside him forever... his hands were trembling as he pulled back.

Crout raised an eyebrow. "So your brother is a party animal, huh?" he asked, moving over to the oven and sliding the pan inside. "What about the rest of your family?"

The adult's blue eyes brightened. "Oh, I'd love it." he sat forward, watching the other avidly. "Just tell me when you want me, and I'll be more than happy to come over. Or you can come here." slender hands brushed a lock of hair from his face.

"So, what kind of a room-mate are you looking for? I know my 'siblings', as you call them, Crout and Laertes, are looking for someplace to live. I also am hesitant to remain under Miss Alana's roof for too much longer. I hate to rely on her generosity." he shrugged delicately, earrings chiming. "Perhaps if you find Crout or Laertes a pleasing companion, you can try one of them."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 25, 2006 12:57 pm

'Big boomies'-- yes, that had been a large portion of the original plan, hadn't it? Ah, yes. They'd been distracted by discussing hobbies and the like, in the form of pots and then later in the form of taking care of others, and that hasd led to this point. How strange how quickly thoughts fled from their original intent towards taking others. "Indeed," Mekt mused, following Nakkie obediantly, his mind somewhere along the strange and twisted paths things tended to take.

Swimming? Before? Yes. Of course, yes! Renjyo loved swimming, splashing, playing. Nodding, the little girl giggled. "Of course Renjyo's gone swimming! Renjyo can hold her breath for a long time! Lots and lots of seconds! And... okay! Renjyo's pretty clothes aren't as pretty when they're wet." Nodding, Renjyo began to take off her outfit piece by piece.

"I believe, if Mother's friend is right, it's called an 'Aduthule'. Something about souls. At least, all the... relics..." Mother called them rocks, but that seemed to be their proper names-- relics... "seem to be called Aduthule. I'm not sure exactly what it means." If her teacher were still about, there would be more insight, but... she'd been gone for a long time now and-- no. Don't htink about it. "I'm sure Mother would be more than pleased to tell you about it."

"Not so much a party animal as..." How could she describe Nasir? Not by any of the usual words she used for him, certainly. "...different. He's something of a... predator. The rest of the family, well... Renjyo's just crazy, Kiku's quiet and polite, Mekt's got a bad habit of getting into trouble, and then there's me," Hera shrugged at the last.

Nasir would much prefer Kamil come at the Nest-- although that was on a slightly different subject... "Perhaps you should come over sometime. Right now my schedule's fairly open-- so any time you're free. If you know the way, that is. If you don't, I'd be more than happy to show you-- it can be a little tricky to get to the Nest sometimes. As for a roommate..." Nasir paused for a moment, considering. "I suppose someone who's personality doesn't clash with my own. Someone who's too much like me or someone who's too different than me-- they wouldn't work. Otherwise, I suppose it's simple enough." Suggesting his brothers, but not himself? Pity...

The preteen led the way, skipping a bit on her way down to the water. It was an area not often occupied by swimmers, and all the mers had been forewarned there were explosived that may be going off. Aerosols, alcohols, gasolines. Anything she'd seen that said 'flammable'.

Solange blinked as the little girl started stripping down. "Okay hon, that's plenty." she decided when her shoes and socks, skirt, and jacket were off. "That way, you'll still be covered, and still have stuff dry." She held out her hands to the little gorl, waiting for her to come. "I'll let you swim, and when you get tired, we can go out to the little island, and you can explore. There are horsies out there, did you know?"

Laramie was quiet for a while. "Aduthule." he said softly, finally. He smiled at the girl, quietly. "Thank you."

Crout tilted his head. "Predator, huh?" He laughed at the girl's description of the rest of her family. "And what about yourself?" he hopped up on the counter, watching her. "Why the shrug?"

Kamil smiled brightly. "It would be my pleasure." he said with a shy nod. "If you don't mind showing me... I'm always getting lost." He stood, brushing his hair back behind him. "So, how can I replay you for the lessons?" his demeanor was businesslike. "Maybe some money, to help with the rent when you move out?" He had a tentative job, as a dance instructor. He pondered his siblings. "Crout might be too much like you... I don't know about Laertes. Would you, maybe, be willing to consider me?" he tilted his head towards Nasir. "I am looking to move out, but I didn't want to be quite so forward."

Ah, what an appropriate place for experimentation-- a secluded area well away from where parental units and curious siblings would choose to roam. It appeared to be fairly deserted-- another plus, given the tendency for explosions to worry others. All in all, Mekt approved of this location. Fingering the vials inside his coat, the boy smiled. This would be interesting...

Giggling, Renjyo shook her head. "Horsies? Renjyo loves horsies!" Well, in theory she did. She'd never actually met a horsie, and so she couldn't really say if she really loved horsies, but Renjyo loved everyone she'd ever met so she knew she'd love the horsies after she met them because it was good to like people and if people were liked they were happy and happy was good because if people were happy they did good things not like when they were sad and did bad things!

Progress. She was making progress with this strange boy-man. It was... comforting. "You're quite welcome," Kiku murmured, her own lips quirking into the faintest hint of a smile in return. "There aren't many who can appreciate such things."

"Yeah, a predator. And as for me..." Well, what could she say? Hera liked to keep busy. That's about all there was to it, as far as she was concerned. "I keep myself entertained." The little blonde didn't like talking about herself, didn't really know how to, when it got right down to it.

"It would be my pleasure to show you the way, Kamil." A name which tasted sweet, like Nasir was certain the boy's body would be-- focus. Not yet. "And you needn't worry about paying me back for the lessons. I enjoy swordplay far too much to ask for payment." But as for the roommate idea? "...perhaps if we get to know each other a bit better, rooming together would be a situation... pleasant for both of us."

"So, what did you want to do first?" Nakshidil asked, setting out the things she'd brought for the other to survey.

Solange smiled. "Well! Then I think we'll have a fine time today Miss Renjyo." she grasped Renjyo's hand and swam out into the water, showing the little girl all the wonders of the underwater world here. There were fish, and people, and plants. Little homes. She made sure to keep an eye on the child, and come up for air regularly. And finally she pulled onto the tiny island out back. "Go ahead and explore." she encouraged. "No one out here will hurt you, okay?"

Laramie laughed. "True. My Velicia used to always tell me I needed to appreciate the arts more. Find the beauty in sorrow."

Crout smiled. "I suppose that'll do." He didn't pry- he hated people who pried.

Kamil laughed. "Well then, thank you." he commented, referring to the payment issue. As for the roommate issue... "How did you have in mind to get to know me better?" he was curious, and more than willing to get to know the handsome man in front of him.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:49 pm

Well, that was certainly an interesting array of items. Mekt smiled slightly. "Well... what kind of 'big boomies' would you like to create?"

Nodding, Renjyo danced onto the island-- she didn't care that she was wet and cold, she wanted to see what was out there! What could there be that she could play with? Playing was fun! She wanted to do something fun and out there and fun!

Velicia. Loving. A name of American origin. Possibly Laramie's lover? But past tense. A lover gone away. That would... hm. Interesting. "There's beauty that can be found in almost everything. But some things aren't meant to be beautiful-- they're meant to be heartfelt. Heartwrenching, sometimes," Kiku murmured. "Not everything is beautiful when you come down to it." Loss wasn't. It could have beautiful parts, but loss in and of itself wasn't beautiful. At all.

"You should meet Nasir sometime. You might be able to knock some sense into him," Hera shrugged. "Or something like that.

"Well, as far as getting to know each other better, we should probably start with talking. And the lessons, of course. Perhaps... there are some other ways we could explore as well," Nasir smiled slightly.

Nakshidil shrugged. She glanced at the items, chewing on her lips. "Something colorful..."

There were plenty of things to play with! Equus, and big kitties. And there were small fairies that greeted her as she came out of the water, and some pretty anthro bird-people. And cat-man. And a cat-girl! And a male unicorn-man that looked at her curiously.

Laramie smiled. "That's how I saw it." he said simply. Sadness can't be beautiful, that would defeat the point, right? But she said... life is beautiful. Death is a part of life, loss is a part of life. It's sad, but it's a bautiful sorrow." He'd never agreed, but he'd let her have her beliefs.

Crout laughed. "Nasir looked like an interesting fellow." he said blandly.

Kamil grinned. "Well, then sit." he invited. "I'll go get us something to drink, and we can do some talking." his blue eyes were laughing. The other ways? He tilted his head at Nasir, eyes liquid. "What other ways did you have in mind? I can't think of any ways people get to know wach other but through talking..."
